About high noon on Hwy 82 just north of Yakima, we see HH video dude Gord Merkley justa 'cruisin' to Boise. Best part was when we pulled up beside them, video cam rolling out the side window and waved. Driver Maurice didn't appear to know what the heck was happening as we cruised on by.

Next up was this unknown trailer with both 'Super Gas' and 'AA/FA' on the side...go figure.

We make the track just after six, meeting Brad New at the front gate. First thing we notice is the new cement guardrail stretching down both sides of the track past the quarter mile mark. The new road in is beautiful, yet another Firebird improvement for the year 2000.

Once in we get the Mundies digger parked in the pit area down by the lights and we run into 'Nasty' Wes Garvin happy with the good ole' Canadian headache remedy...

PS: Happy Birthday Nazty Boie...

Freeway Trailers went all out this year with the new D6 rig. This image simply does not do justice to the gorgeous rig that was finished one day before leaving the Puget Sound for this race. More on this puppy later...

Hey, the Super Comp guys rarely get a break in the media. Here's one of the well-prepared Campbell Automotive cars from Edmonton, and the Lawrence family's dragster.

This is Dan Naylor's Top Comp 1998 Cameron drgaster from Payette, Idaho.

Yes, we are working on the imaging. The new laptop is not perfect for viewing this stuff, but once we get the system down pat, they will all look good. How 'bout this amazing thunderhead at sunset looking out from the pits.

Nowhere but Firebird do you get a serene pit setting like this. The Federlin Impatience team have their familiar spot in the heart of the pits.

Way cool Top Comp Goat is reported to have gone 7.60's at Woodburn...

'99 SS champ Bill Parmenter is ready to ROCK at Firebird!

Terry Sherrill is fighting a top of low gear bog problem that the cool Corvette has suffered since Phoenix. An automatic smallblock has recently replaced the stick BB. A lil slower, but a lot calmer...

We didn't ask Mike Shannon what he was thrashing on.

Very neat tubbed '57 Belair with that awesome thunderhead in the background.

Pit Notes:

They did get in one hit for the pre-registered entries today after a mega 10am rain squall...Robert Pond's A/S Fomoco went 10.52 on a 10.50 record...Chuck Rayburn took his B/SA Mopar to a 10.74 on a .76 record...Maryland's Joe Aluise ran 10.49 on a 10.40 record...and low ET in Top Comp was a 7.80 by Colorado's Monte Green...
