Gary Anderson brought his nitro car all the way from Anaheim California to fireball in the first session on way to a 6.762/142.


Dale Carlson and Bill Edwards Jr await their turns.


Carlson blazed to a 5.545/257.65 number to close day one in the first position.


The first man in the fives in a something other than a Top Fueler or Funny Car, Steve Faria, was here in 1999 Div. 6 champ Melanie Troxel's former ride. A 5.59/243.50 saw him number two.


Steve Federlin was unable to fire for his run. Note Legend Aero name on car. Look for LA team Captain Jeff Tucker to try his hand at FMD very soon.


Local driver Bob Haffner showed with new paint on way to 6.151/220.10 6th position effort.


Mark Hentges got down course at 5.639/256.33 gor for number three.


The lady from Graham Wa., Kim Parker, keeps improving as her 5.675/244.63 showed.


The only Alberta FM entry was the Mopac-sponsored Firebird of the Bateman & Reynolds team. A 5.812/251.81 was good for the fourth qualifying position.


A GREAT matchup here saw Bucky Austin reach the stripe first at 5.802/238.03 to Russ Parker's 5.848/246.23.


John Hyland looked good with a 5.773/247.45 run that made him second.


Larry Miner continued the Div. 6 qualifying woes he probably hoped he left in Woodburn last July with this shut-off sideways run...


...while Boise champ Dan McGlone got down the track with a 6.243/176.19.


Then there was Pat Austin who flew to the top of the class with a 5.723/254.59.
