SATURDAY May 29, 1999

We began with Super Stock, and it's still windy...and cold.

Very nice blown BB jeep.

Langley Super Pro racer Cory Thompson.

David Rastad defeated Cory in the Cash Bash final.

Two more local S/P driver, Derrek Johnstone and Justin Winton.

I was joking with Kenny T in the lanes about all the decals and
lettering on the windows. "You're bound and determined to never
put anything on the body eh Ken?" "I WOULDN'T EITHER!"
boomed some fan from ten feet away, leading his wife by the hand,
and drooling over the super-sano Chevrolet.

A NL'AKAPXM institution is 'Hambone's Chevy' The all steel...(ALL...fenders,
doors, trunk, hood), injected alky mouse has been owned since high
school, and just keeps getting better. A home-built Pro-Stock-type
frame and cage is a testament to the low-buck, down-home hot rodder/drag
racer. It's not the nicest, it's not the fastest, but 'Classic Confrontation'
is one of my favorites.

Another fave was Howard Williamson's three-window from Salmon Arm.
Through four polished Borlas, with slicks, the 502 inch blown rat
idle-launched to best of 10.67/124mph. I have been out of touch
the past year so am not sure what the number is, but this has to
be close to a street legal hot rod record for the province.

'Aurora' Jeff was hammering on his four-by import all weekend long.

It's known around the pits as the 'Tiger Tool Car'...and everybody
loves it.

Dave Richardson Jr's S/ST wagon.

Maybe not one of the favorites going into this event, but the last
one to win on Sunday.

Got email from some new friends today:
I just wanted to say it was a pleasure to meet you in Ashcroft.
We love your web page, keep up the great work!
Jeff and Julie Jackson 6143 S/ST

Come Saturday this beast was not any calmer than it was on Friday.

As the rain came around the hill to the northwest, the sun appeared
to the south and provided a spectacular background. This is Craig
Bickle's clean S/ST Camaro from Vancouver Island.

Terry-Langdon-Davies has about as much experience in Super Cars
than anyone in the division. Totally gorgeous Willys always puts
on a good show and draws tons of fans into T-L-D's pit..

My neighbour Steve Lowe in yet another spotless, very competitive
race car.

Once more my mind is at a blank as to this driver's name...sorry.
I need a list of some kind.

As the rain draws ever nearer, Rick Webster leaves in his S/ST Chevelle.
You gotta see this thing up close to see how deep the paint is.

Kost tried but failed to get another record in the Olds.

Here's Burke Taylor's C/SA 396 '69 Nova from Edmonton. Qualified
18 at -0.660.

Steve Cozakos qualified 15th in the 22 car Stock field at -0.760
11.630 in his '72 442. Who said drag racing was a numbers game?
