SATURDAY May 29, 1999 PAGE 2 of 3

The rain sucked, but it dried FAST. Some of the cloud scenes as
the dark one's blew in while the sun shone from the opposite direction,
made for some stunning scenes.

As we see here with Craig Bloom from Gresham, Oregon. 427 '69 Camaro
C/SA was the 8th qualifier with a -0.875 11.055.

Norm LaPointe brought this neat 1968 Chevelle Wagon from Edmonton
to run in N/SA. Qualified well in 9th with a -0.864 12.696. It was
great to see Alberta cars out in force at an FMDRS for the first
time in 1999! See all you guys and more at Seattle right???

Now just as the rains were about to fall, Cour came out to test
his 'never-before-photographed' wing device. There is no doubt that
when owned as a street vehicle this happens to everyone at least
once. Making it a 'stock' item...right?
Standing behind me was Alf Weibe. I watched as he witnessed the
device slowly come up upon launch. Then softly close at about the
300 ft. mark.
Could have been the drastic change in air pressure as those rain
clouds were mere yards from the track. Right?

After a break we continued with this pair of Northwesterners who
have faced each other a time or two. The Worm Don Elgin (#2
-1.226 12.334) and Jody Lang (#6 and winner -1.032 12.528) In the
completely unofficial HorsepowerHeaven N/SA Nationals qualifying.

Brad Potter always has quick, cool street Ponchos. Was a finalist
here in Sportsman.

Zazula's team won Best Appearing Crew as he continued to show power
with a consecutive T/C number one qualifying effort in his very
nostalgic '89 Morrison. A 7.253/186.45 put him there.

Second was Ralph Paulik at 7.29/185.98.
We still do not have the first six second Top Comp car. C'mon
troops this is the only barrier left in ET for these things! Seattle
for sure right? Not Friday though....I can't make it until Sat.
Hey who will put up cash for the first one? Trophy even? Good marketing
item eh?

Ken Kennedy was 4th T/C qualifier and runner-up wheeling the cool
K2 car with a 7.707/178.74.

A first ever win for a nice guy with one of the prettiest cars in
all of Competition Eliminator, Jim Kennedy.

Dudley...may PAL! Fer sure THE nicest guy in ALL of drag racing,
he had his car out and was havin' a blast! Had a chance to be first
six second T/C car, but wanted to run with the big guns. Held onto
his fifth place spot with a great 6.77/192.10. Nearly coasted past
Hentges in round one when the 'Air' car car blew up, but Cleese
ran a 7.60/128.00 to Hentges' 6.96/133.57, after he lost a blower
belt of his own.

Told ya Wyatt is still havin' fun.

John Evans won a Super Comp race at Mission a few weeks back.

The Nelson's were showing off this NASCAR-type trailer. Brand new,
it's all biz inside with a hoist for the race car, allowing the
Corsica streeter to slip right in underneath the Baretta racecar.
From back of side door to front is bench/work area. Short, tall,
beautiful rig. Check it out in Seattle June 25/26/27 at the next
Div 6 FMDRS.

One time track manager and announcer, Steve McBride, assisting Mickey
Cauldwell.

Lezlee Hentges is all smiles with Mike Scott after hubby Mark had
claimed the top spot early Saturday with a 5.793/253.87.

The Federlin crew weren't the only ones busy on Saturday.

As this view of Giuliani's 'Loan Shark' crew shows.

Scott was launchin' on the yellow.

Alf's' Super' Stocker was so in window letters only. Not for long
however, as the Stocker will soon recieve the full SS treatment.

Bateman's driving and Reynolds' tuning once again showed their team
skills on a marginal, but predictable, racetrack. He could have
beaten nearly anyone here...from the left lane.

Dale Carlson was on a roll...until the final round Sunday. He ended
up one with a 5.721/248.68.

The beautiful Mustang of Springfield, Oregon's John Hyland was two
with a 6.001/230.82.
