The final was all Del Worsham as you can already begin to see smoke coming off the slicks on Whit Bazemore's car in the far lane.

What can you say about Del Worsham's victory here in Seattle that has not been already said? His first win since 1991 gives the Checker/Schuck's/Kragen Pontiac Firebird team a big boost going into the final races of the season. The Orange California driver now sits in 5th place in the Winston points standings, two points behind Skuza, 19 back of Bazemore.

Bazemore may well be the only 'force' left to try and deal with the Force team in the run to the championship. He too lost traction beside Worsham after running 5.64, 5.06 and 5.16 in preceding rounds. This gives him three runner-up finishes in three final round appearances in 1999 and his second in as many races. Kendall Camaro was the number two qualifier with a 5.027/290.32.

Force qualified number one at 4.987/304.12 (top speed of event), went 5.072 in round one, 5.070 in two before hazing the tires beside the eventual winner.

When the last four cars came out, the famed Nitro Mater of one Scott Cannon was among them. Cranking out some of the best burnouts of the event, Scotty made a ton of Northwest fans this weekend and came within a hair of being in the final when his race with Bazemore saw his .541/5.163/278.46 get eclipsed by Whit's .524/5.169/275.73.

Hofmann runs like every pass is for the championship. He qualified 13th at 5.25/268, lucked out in round one when Tony broke then got beat by Worsham in round two.

He qualified 7th with a 5.17, took out brother Cruz in round one then Frank Pedregon lost out to Bazemore in a great second round race that saw Jim Dunn's Penthouse car run a 5.08 just behind Whit's 5.06.

You may not know it from this shot, but Ronny Capps is about 6 inches shorter and 100 lbs lighter than Toliver. He won this battle during intros, then lost the re-match in round one when the 'Phenom' car ran low ET of the event beside the Cope Camaro's 5.19.

Tommy Johnson Jr. lost in the first round to Scotty Cannon who had numbers of .463/5.41...TJ reeled off a scary .545/5.35 for the loss.
