The final was all Del Worsham as you can
already begin to see smoke coming off the slicks on Whit
Bazemore's car in the far lane.

What can you say about Del Worsham's victory
here in Seattle that has not been already said? His first
win since 1991 gives the Checker/Schuck's/Kragen Pontiac
Firebird team a big boost going into the final races of
the season. The Orange California driver now sits in 5th
place in the Winston points standings, two points behind
Skuza, 19 back of Bazemore.

Bazemore may well be the only 'force'
left to try and deal with the Force team in the run to the
championship. He too lost traction beside Worsham after
running 5.64, 5.06 and 5.16 in preceding rounds. This gives
him three runner-up finishes in three final round appearances
in 1999 and his second in as many races. Kendall Camaro
was the number two qualifier with a 5.027/290.32.

When the last four cars came out, the
famed Nitro Mater of one Scott Cannon was among them. Cranking
out some of the best burnouts of the event, Scotty made
a ton of Northwest fans this weekend and came within a hair
of being in the final when his race with Bazemore saw his
.541/5.163/278.46 get eclipsed by Whit's .524/5.169/275.73.

You may not know it from this shot, but
Ronny Capps is about 6 inches shorter and 100 lbs lighter
than Toliver. He won this battle during intros, then lost
the re-match in round one when the 'Phenom' car ran low
ET of the event beside the Cope Camaro's 5.19.

round race 6.41 to Epler's 6.40. Still does the best tire-toasters,
but only by a bit over Cannon.
