Federal Mogul Drag Racing Series Track Operators Meeting Recap of New Items

1). New event format was unanimously agreed upon by track operators. Federal Mogul Funny car eliminations at Divisional Events will take place at Noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Federal Mogul Dragster eliminations will take place at 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

2). Whenever possible, all classes scheduled to have first rounds on Saturday evening will receive a bonus time trial/qualifying run on Friday evening. This will provide the racers with conditions similar to Saturday first round times. All large classes (typically 65 or more) will receive first round eliminations on Saturday evening following the last FMD/FMFC time trial. In the event of a questionable weather forecast, all first rounds may be run on Saturday.

Top Comp (if more than 17) and Comp (if more than 17) will conduct first rounds on Saturday. Second round will take place on Sunday morning and all subsequent rounds will be paired with either Federal Mogul Dragster or Funny Car. This will prevent "hot-lapping" in later rounds of eliminations and provide each car with adequate and consistent cool down time.

3). At the request of many drivers, Top Comp racers will be provided with the opportunity to compete in an "out of division" race to replace a poor performance in the points chase. This will provide each driver with seven opportunities to earn points during the 2000 season. The driver's top 5 finishes will count toward the Top Comp championship. The extra "out of division" event will be held at the Eagle Motorplex in Ashcroft, B.C. as part of the Canadian National Open. This is the only opportunity to earn "out of division" points. (See rulebook for explanation of in-division and out of division points).

4). Purse increases for Super Street, Super Gas and Super Comp were approved 6-0. Field will now receive additional money in the event that entries exceed 64 cars.

5). Purse increases for Federal Mogul Dragster and Federal Mogul Funny Car were approved 4-2.

6). Standardized number of passes at all events for Federal Mogul Dragster and Federal Mogul Funny Car were approved 5-1.

7). NHRA trophy and hat policy was finalized.

1999 NHRA Northwest Division Track Operators Meeting Recap of Decisions

The 1999 NHRA Northwest Division Track Operators gathered on Friday, December 3, 1999 to vote on the official rules for the 2000 Summit Racing E.T. Bracket Finals. While these rules will be enforced at the 2000 Finals, the individual tracks are free to conduct their regular weekly events in any manner they see fit (as long as it complies with NHRA rules).

1). E.T. Motorcycles and Snowmobiles will be combined into one class to be known as E.T. Snow/Bike. As a result, snowmobiles will be eligible for competition in the Race of Champions. A determination on which tree will be used (either .4 tenths Pro or .5 tenths full) will be determined based on which tree is used in the National Championship run-off. (An announcement will be made in mid- January).

2). Jr. Dragster will now earn points in Saturday's Track Manager's Challenge. The Eliminator will only be contested on Saturday.

3). All NHRA Northwest Division Member Tracks participating in the Summit Racing E.T. Program must honor the E.T. Gold Cards.

2000 NHRA Northwest Division Gold Card Policy

E.T. Racing Series Gold Card: Will be honored with free entry and driver pass at all NHRA member tracks for regular E.T. Racing Series events, all Northwest Division Federal Mogul Drag Racing Series events, Canadian National Opens and any other NHRA Northwest Division contracted event.

Some tracks who host major bracket events may choose not to honor the Gold Card for entry fees at these special events. The tracks will advertise, in advance, the fact that the Gold Card will not be honored for entry but is good for free pass(es) to the special event.

Federal Mogul Drag Racing Series Gold Card: Will be honored for entry fee and driver pass at all Federal Mogul Drag Racing Series, Canadian National Open and any other NHRA Northwest Division contracted event. NHRA member track will determine policy of honoring FMDRS Gold Cards for use at E.T. events. Should member track choose not to honor the Gold Card at a regular E.T. event they must notify the Division Offices by January 1, 2000 so policy can be forwarded to recipients.

Canadian National Open Gold Cards: Are good for entry fee and driver pass at any Canadian National Open event.

Jr. Dragster Gold Cards: Must be honored at all Northwest Division member tracks and events.

4). Each NHRA Northwest Division Member Track must return a letter of intent to participate in the Summit Racing E.T. Finals by January 1, 2001 to accommodate special printing, sponsor commitments and event preparation. In addition, all tracks not paying E.T. Finals team fees by April 1, 2000 will be subject to late charges.

5). The following criteria was approved for participation in the E.T. Finals.

6). High School Program: will award $50 to each driver reaching the quarter finals to help offset travel costs.

7). Summit E.T. Finals Awards:

8). Other E.T. Finals Misc. Approved items:

9). Member Track Operators agree to comply with Summit Racing E.T. Championship Program: In an effort to stabilize rules and provide our racers with the same opportunities as other Division Champions, the E.T. Finals will be conducted with the same tree, e.t. breaks and other rules as the National Championship event.
