My first regular contact with drag racing was in the early 70s. My first issue of Drag News was consumed cover to cover...many times. It was a day when the independant newspaper from SoCal was the voice of drag racing

We march on with all the stuff that came in via email . A BIG page it includes a trio of videos and a bunch of cool, sometimes large, photos.

Time to get serious. It's no mistake our New Year's Eve 2000 Photo/Video Spectacular includes more nostalgia than ever. This year brought us a huge, renewed respect for the pioneers of Northwest Drag Racing. I made the commitment to catalog and identify as many old photos and movie films as possible. Consider this New Year's Eve posting the first installment.

Thanks to many photographers and collectors, we came into what is quickly becoming a premier Northwest drag photo collection. Unfortunately identification is everything. Just two days ago I came across a collection of images that sat me down for a good long time. My old buddy Bob Hunter has attended as many races in this region since 1966 as anybody you care to compare him to. Bob, however, has a massive collection of completely dated, and identified photos from nearly every race. An amazing find.

What you will see in this video is a bunch of shots from Charles Jollif, the former starter at George Ray's. When he sent me this, I thought I was getting a few clips to convert to Real files for him. Instead I got over an hour of images from the most amazing drag strip on Earth. I simply had to edit some of this together. What you will see was taped Sat. July 22 at a strip called Sikeston featuring Hot Rod magazine cover car Brian Kohlman's nostalgia nitro Funny Car. The next day, Sun. July 22, they haul to George Ray's for a huge race. Whatever you have seen or read about this place is all here.
