Our little trip to Vegas came on kinda short notice, but thanks to dad's need for a visit to Reno we ended up with a mini van seven hours from The Strip at LVMS. Then thanks to Strip Manager Chris Blair we had a place to crash, so like a pair of hooker's panties we were off! We arrived mid day Friday just in time to see the boyz n girlz of the Pacific Street Car Association indulge in a lil ole test n tune session. Knowing we would see a bunch of new cars with new setups on a fairly fresh LVMS surface we expected to get some of the most spectacular shots of the weekend. Our new friends didn't let us down with easily the best variety of powerstands of the three days amid the spectacular lighting conditions only this track offers. With our supply of Kokanee (Canadian beer) ready to bribe whoever it took, our camcorder came out of the box. For you PSCA dudes who are not familiar with what we do around here, please note that every single image you'll see on HH is a frame capture from a video camera. This means a couple of things. For one, they cannot be blown up in size much more than what you see here, so don't bother asking for enlargements. We are however a full-feature video service so if you see something you like be aware that it is a minuscule piece of a video clip we will be happy to provide you with. Our prices range from a minimum of $20 to a maximum of $50, depending on how much we have of your particular ride throughout the weekend. Please note that the quality of the still images(low) is nowhere near the quality of the video (we don't think you'll find better period). So send me an e-mail if yur interested and depending on how many people hit me up can get you a VHS tape complete with ultra-clear slow motion asap. We got almost seven hours of tape at this race, so realize what you see here is just a very brief hilight package of the whole meal deal. Because of things such as lighting, people getting in the way, our own magical way of simply missing stuff, along with a host of other reasons we always get lots of some cars and next to nothing of others. It's never on purpose, but it just happens, hence don't feel offended if you ask and we end up with a lot more footage of your buddy than of you. This is even more so in this case as basically every car here we were shooting for the first time and really did not know what to expect for any of them. We interviewed a few guys, most of whom just fit in to our schedule of being in the pits as often as we could, but not as often as we would have liked. Trust me if HH ever gets to one of these races again we'll try and talk to many more of you. Our grand plan for all this killer video is already in the works. C'mon back to HH later in the year as we plan on producing the greatest left coast street car video tape there's ever been. We promise it will be two hours of nonstop street car dynamite unlike anything any of you have ever seen! After viewing what we got just here in Vegas, the lil snicker on my face is proof HH has the goods and will deliver. As for the race....well it simply kicked ass. From the Pro Mods to the streeters we saw more bitchin door cars here that any one place we have had the pleasure of visiting over the past few decades. This is just my kinda drag racing. Cool people with cool cars, heads-up, no breakouts, NO THROTTLE STOPS, just bad azz boyz beatin' the shit outta their bad azz toyz! One of the things that surprised us however was a distinct lack of anything Mopar. Man, like this scene was all Ford and Chevrolet with just a very few exceptions. The other thing we noted was in every class that permitted them turbos ruled. Pure and simple. While it's been known for decades that those hair dryers make more power per cubic yard than anything else, it took the laptop computer and bunch of gear-head braniacs to make it all work on a drag strip. What we witnessed here in Vegas was basically a realization that this is the future of horsepower and going quick n fast on a drag strip. Lag is all but a distant memory as turbo cars of all shapes and sizes, wheelstand, toast the tires and haul ass as well as any huffed ride you care to mention. Throw in some juice too and well...yee ha! Like I said every car here was new to us, so it was that our stupid HH trick of the week came in the form of me seeing this bitchin '65 Malibu pull in, burnout, purge and leave....HUGE! So this is what would happen with your L Stocker on Nitrous I thought...Took me a minute to figure out it stood for Limited Street...it was the Kokanee ok... Our visit here was fabulous. From the great track workers at LVMS to the many new PSCA friends we made it simply does not get much better. Though dreams of matching up some of the southwest's best with the hitters from up this way in the Pacific northwest was constantly on my (and Chris Blair's) minds, it's a dream that may well be just that for quite a while. Extended travel is not something either group partakes in, but hopefully someday, somewhere (I vote for Vegas) we can get all these bad boys together in one place at one time. Damn, but that would be one fucking drag race eh? As for the many other cars here we invite you to Speedzonemagazine.com for our coverage of the West Coast Pro Mod and West Coast Top Eliminator coverage. While we were here to mainly cover the PSCA, we managed to get some cool stuff other than just the streeters. The following images are presented in the order in which we shot them, so they do kinda jump around a bit. Enjoy them, we did our best to caption with correct info, but only had rounds sheets to go by so excuse any errors. Let us know and we will repair any and all you send in.
