Our trip to THE STRIP @ LVMS was a mixed one. A great field of cars on hand including some locals, a brand new Nikon D200 courtesy of Rich Carlson, our weapon of choice over the trusted Panasonic AGDVC30 camcorder. We were unable to be there to shoot Monday...the day all the cool stuff went down, but still got to see the Force cars looking kinda cool (anything's better than the 'real' paint jobs) and JF hammering out a massive 4.67. We quickly learned the Nikon was a battery hog of ridiculous proportions leaving us maybe 50 shots a day before the juice ran out, and with our newly purchased charger taking eight hours...well let's just say we tried to learn this beast as best we could with what little time we had. Unfortunately we did not have the correct battery just some double ehs to go into the big ad-on pack. Trust me, this thing needs the supplied priority battery....that we didn't receive. Got some ok stuff, but could have been much better with practice. We may have some video to show you later, but for now here's our little photo feature in sorta glorious high resolution. Many thanks to Carlson, Chris Blair and the always great LVMS staff who treated us like gold.

Scelzi fastest in first day of testing at The Strip at LVMS
LAS VEGAS - Defending NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series Funny Car
Champion Gary Scelzi posted the fastest time during the first day of the
NHRA Nitro Blast-off Preseason Test session Friday at The Strip at Las Vegas
Motor Speedway.
Scelzi posted a time of 4.86 sec. at 246.57 mph under chilly conditions.
But as Gary would tell you, it's better health -- not bigger improvements
on the car -- which will give him that advantage this year.
"In the off season I hired a personal trainer," said Scelzi. "I
work out with the trainer four days a week and then do cardio two days a week."
Seclzi says that though winning the championship last year was great, the
season brought on a lot of added stress he wasn't expecting.
"I wasn't sleeping well last year during the season," said Scelzi.
"My nerves were bad and I was eating badly."
Scelzi says that testing at The Strip will give them and idea of what to expect
from the upcoming season.
"We're going to try some new things today," said Scelzi. "That's
why we test. To see what works good and what works bad and then to take
that and make it work this year."
Times posted by other drivers include: Whit Bazemore (5.187 sec./212mph),
Ron Capps (4.866 sec.) and John Force (5.205 sec./204 mph).
