Cowie wins TAD, Nikki Cannon runner up and Division 6 Super Street champion after getting by Hernandez in semi and Dave Kelly runners-up in Super Gas. Jody Lang goes enough rounds to win D6 Stock championship. VanderMeer does not go enough rounds in Super Comp, nor does Hemley in Top Sportsman to get Divisional titles. Ferd's quest for a Super Gas world championship will go on to Pomona.

6:00 pm What a day as we get some racing in but not nearly enough. Lots of people from racers to crew to officials have flights home booked tonight, but may be late as McCarren airport is a mess of delays with floods and runway construction.

About all we can ad from this morning is Bike is done with King the champ as Havens lost in round one. Brett Waldron, Jeff Jackson and Jay Fulcher are out of Super Street leaving Cannon and Hernandez. VanderMeer and Larson are both still in Super Comp and Top Sportsman never ran before the monsoons came after one pairing in Comp.

Ferd advanced while Olpin didn't, but am not sure how that effects the world championship, and DeFrank's round one red light left a lot shaking their heads in Super Stock. Best moment of the day was Cowie winning on a massive holeshot.

To make a long, wild weekend even more stressing was the Nellis AFB hosting a 100,000+ person (free admission) airshow called Aviation Nation Sat & Sun and using the drag strip parking lot as a park n ride. Not fun with roads closed all over the place and road construction everywhere. Then again we got a pretty freekin awesome airshow with the Thunderbirds, F22 Raptor, B52, F-16s, F-18s and a whole lot more ripping up the skies all day long.

They'll try it again tomorrow with racing at 8am, alky at 10am. Not sure if I'll go out very early as this 'family holiday' has been anything but so far.

PSCA results here and Zone has a revealing Bucky Austin interview that puts out a bunch of 'official' info (that's been known by many insiders for quite a while) before the 'official' NHRA announcements. I think Deano should continue this roll and release the 'real deal' on what's goin' down at that ChiTown strip.

7:00 am The weather has moved into the valley here in LV, with lots of clouds, chance of showers and winds predicted to go into tomorrow and run 25-35mph with 50mph gusts!

D6 points details

Already clinched:
TAD - Joey Severance, TAFC - Brian Hough, Comp - Doug Lambeck, SS - Brad Plourd, S/Gas - Mike Ferderer, who also has a chance at the world title, and J.R. Leerkamp is the D6 Top Dragster champ.

In Stock Jody Lang clinches by winning 3rd round. If he goes out earlier, Glen Person must win the event to pass him.

Super Comp. Current leader Stefan Kondolay is not here, so Dick Vandermeer can win by going to round six. Violet Larson wins the championship if she wins the race.

Super Street sees Nikki Cannon in the lead but Tony Hernandez, Dudley Gee, Brett Waldron, Jeff Jackson and Jay Fulcher are all possible champs.

Robert Mathews leads Top Sportsman but is not here, so if Darryl Hemley wins the race he will take the title.

Motorcycle points leader Leeland King can clinch by advancing to the semis while Jeff Havens must win the race.

Thanks to DD Jonathan Adams for working this all out for us. We'll update as we can today.

PSCA Fontana qualifying

After four dawn till dark days, yur ole webmaster is gettin' a bit burned out, but we'll go at it one more day tomorrow as the biggest sportsman race in the west comes to a close. For now we'll leave you with a couple more video frame caps (turst me, this stuff in HD on big screen is unbelieveable and looses a LOT in the transition to stills).

In D6 action Brian Hough won the TAFC title today even though he's not here when his only competition Clint Thompson failed to qualify. In Top Dragster a first round loss by Mike Henderson gave the title to J.R. Leerkamp. Still up for grabs are Stock, Super Comp, Super Street and Motorcycle. Darryl Hemley made it thru round one of Top Sportsman and needs to win this race to take the championship. We'll update all the title runs tomorrow night.

First up is the simply unbelievable dominating Comp qualifying runs by Jirka Kaplan. In the third and final session this evening he blew us all away yet again with a -1.062 6.068/225.71 that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt this thing will easily run fives at Pomona. Rumor is Jay Payne may bring his Pro Mod to run Comp there as the two battle to run the first Comp five. HH hint - don't put yur money on Da Slug...

Fuel Hog qualifying is lead by Orangevale California's Phil Schmidt who clocked an awesome 6.277 205.04.

Top qualifier in Top Sportsman Greg Tucker from Lindsay Oklahoma lost in round one when the bottled '07 Goat went into a major powerstand.

Sorry, but our live streaming video gig is not gonna happen this weekend. There's just to much goin' on here to be testing new stuff.

Well the video experiment was a bust, but we'll try again tomorrow. Pretty cool race though as these two video frame caps show. First is Doug Vancil lighting up the Vegas night with a spectacular explosion, and then we see Trevor Lebsack out of Slave Lake AB, as the wheelie bar breaks on his 2005 Camaro TAFC.

D6 runners are looking good with Ron Houniet second in TF Hog with a nice 6.415 209.92, Shawn Cowie is baddest of the BADs so far at 5.358 269.08, good for fourth, and how about that Jirka Kaplan and Mark Wolfe leading Comp. Kaplan's totally insane 6.127 in AA/AM 1.003 under and maybe the baddest alky roadtser run of all time. Rumor is this thing will be in the fives at Pomona. Wolfe got it all together with a great 6.463.

Looks like just one more qualifier for everybody tomorrow except for the alky classes. It's gonna be huge, and we'll have lots more coverage all weekend long and going into next week.

2:25 pm update Ok now the damn thing is working, so I will try to get hooked up about 5-6pm tonight. Go here for the live feed and cross your fingers.

2:20 pm update Well the 'live video cam' plan for this weekend has run into a technical snag with the new laptop. I'll work on it tonight, but not sure I'll be able to solve this one. Hopefully have it fixed by SCSN so we can play with doing a live video and audio/broadcast direct from the track.

It's gonna be a long couple of days here at LVMS, but I should have some time next week to post some pics and maybe even video from the Lucas race. For now check back maybe nightly for some.
