Records and Firsts at MRP

And you thought it was good back in June...An even more impressive lineup of the finest two-wheelers in the Northwest came to Mission today and blitzed the Canadian Motorcycle Drag Racing Association (CMDRA) record books

The five Top Fuel machines were lead by Ron Houniet with not only the first ever six second 200mph in the west (6.88/200.35) but a new speed record and one leg on the ET with a spectacular 6.74/205.33 mile per hour blast that saw him carry the front wheel well past the 1/8th mile marker!!!...just like he did on the 6.88! It was an amazing sight to see!

The rest of the field found the going tough as Ken Kent is number two with a 7.21/185, followed by a 7.41/139.25 for Robin Gauthier, Dave O'Hara's 7.59/177, and Greg Maclean's 8.10/162.22

This show is awesome! BE there tomorrow, you WON'T regret it! Now check out our four page foto feature:

Jim Gauthier's Alien is aways good for some action.

Regular HH visitors will know ths piece. The blown, bottled hog with the killer paint is an amazing example of custom engineering.

He was off to maybe the best run ever before he...

...shredded a belt, leading to...

...the wheelie bar panel on the right side being blown off!

Then he came out and did some damage. Note flame out the header.

Andy Beauchemin from Edmonton (Is he one of those former puller guys?) gets the burnout award for this long one on his Modified class (5th at 9.14/139) '97 HD.

But the 'Official HH Adventure of the Day' prize is snapped up by Dave Boss the owner of Rose City Cycle in Pasadena, California, who windowed the motor - note small puff just below the air bottle...

And parts begin to come out the bottom as unburned air and fuel backfire out the carb, just before...

...POOF, we have ignition!

And the parts fly...

...and fly...

...and we witness one of the most spectacular engine explosions ever seen on a hog! One more 'Hit' for the HH 99 tape eh!
