NOTE: This is some info sent to me by Darrell Brown (dbrown@psesd.org) in late 1998. The photos are a couple of years old, but give a good idea as to the cars these fun-loving people run. If you get a chance to catch one of their shows, don't miss it. LP

Here is a short history of our Association. The NW Nostalgia Top Eliminator Association was started back in 1989, by the late Ron Gorans, his sons Don, Dan, Dennis and good friend Jim Dillinger. Ron wanted an economical way to race blown nostalgia front engine dragsters "If there is such away", and do something both he and his sons could enjoy together. Ron and Dick Kalivoda were co-chairmen for the Association until 1993, at that time I took over from Dick Kalivoda as co-chairmen. Ron and I were co-chairmen until Ron's unexpected death in November of 1996. After Ron's death, his son Dan Gorans and I assumed the chairmanship of our Association.

Here are our Association guidelines:
  • 7.50 Breakout.
  • All cars must be front-engine, direct-drive 60's style sling shot dragsters.
  • Blown-alcohol or injected-nitro. ( 671 GM blower )
  • 440 Cu. In. Limit, Iron Blocks. ( Alumimum blocks are allowed for small-block Chevrolet and 392 Chrysler Hemi Donovan )
  • Cast-iron heads only. ( No Alumimum )
  • Only one magneto, one spark plug per cylinder, one fuel pump and hat nozzles only. ( like it use to be 60's style )
  • 12 inch wide tires only. ( Any Manufacture )
  • NO eletronic, pneumatic, or hydraulic-assisted devices are allowed.
  • All NHRA general safety rules apply.
  • NHRA chassis certification must be sportsman. ( Minimum ) 2.2A, 2.4, 10.1C chassis certification preferred.
  • All drivers must have a valid NHRA license for 7.50 ET ( minimum class 4A )

We currently have four blown alcohol Chryslers, Dan Gorans, Dennis Gorans, Jason Howell and Jim Dillinger, one injected nitro Donovan Chrysler, Dick & Brady Kalivoda who take turns driving, two blown alcohol big block Chevrolets, Mike Padur and Al Downs and one blown alcohol small block Chevrolet, Phil Ruskowski. We will have three more teams coming on board next season, Ray McIntosh with his blown alcohol Donovan Chrysler, Tom Beaver with his blown alcohol big block Chevrolet and Marlin Fosmark with his injected nitro small block Chevrolet.

We have kept the rules we have in place for two seasons. One we want to keep the 60's favor alive in our racing, and two all of the tracks we race at say don't change a thing!!

We currently do not have a web site, but we are working on it!! Hopefully you find this information useful.

Our race dates are usually two day events, with qualifying for a eight car field on saturday and elimination's on sunday. We usually make two qualifying passes on saturday, that sets-up the elimination ladder for sunday, 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5.

We strive to maintain a 60's feel with our racing, and have fun!!! All of our dragsters are driect drive, with no electronic, pneumatic or hydraulic assisted devices. Using only crew tuning and driver skills to achieve the 7.50 ET limit, we take the spectators back to the 60's to see drag racing the way it used to be. Most of our teams run between 7.50 and 8.00 at 185 to over 200 miles per hour. The self imposed 7.50 breakout keeps parts breakage to a minimum for the racers ( and spectators ) , it also assist tracks with insurance.

We keep points to get our race teams more motivated in qualifying / racing , and also to get the spectators involved with our racing.

Here is our points system:
