Horsepower Heaven FEEDBACKOk people, here's your chance to sound off. Unless you state in your email that you DO NOT want it (or your full identity...and/or email address) posted, or it's just plain obvious to me, it's fair game to post here. Even if you post from ANY email link to me on this site. Be aware that everyone from NHRA brass to my mother read all this on a regular basis, so be nice... NOTE: newest from top From: "Jetstream.net" Subject: my Challengers history Hi Larry. I realize that your busy with your new video but just a quick question. In your years in motorsports do you or any people you know of remember seeing my 1974 Challenger? The former owner was named Hawk (I think). It's been rear clipped 4-link ect. 383cid 6-71blown. It was black for some with a cheesy cowl induction hood, cenerlines. I was told at the time it ran low 10's (late 80's) I understand it did quite alot of street racing (and even won a little) Any info (or pictures) would be great, any ideas? Thanks so much: ...Sorry I forgot to tell you where my car was from. It was from the Lower Mainland. I'm in the Okanagan. George Dudda (mopac) had his cuda at the same time. I'm not familier with it Chris, maybe somebody else is...LP From: "Don Macgowan" Subject: videos Larry, I was wondering if you had any footage in one of the videos with the old Jeff Johnson car, I think it was called "GLORY DAYS" then ? It is a '23 T altered that had a 151" chassis. If you do , let me know as I would be interested in a copy. If you have a picture of it and could e-mail it to me, I would really appreciate it. Keep up the excellant work on your site, it's one of my favorites... Thanks, Don Macgowan
Thanks Dan, I must admit your publication (Quicktimes Classified-Sylvan Lake, Alberta) is one I pick up everytime I see a new one at TCS. As for Glory Days, I know I have more pics...and maybe some video...somewhere back in the old archives, but here's the best I can do for now. LP Date: Wed, 24 Feb 1999 From: Grant Stovel Larry, Have you used your Optura extensively for 'movies'. With the new Elura with the same specs I am wondering if that is the one to go to. Grant
More cool stuff from the Prince George photog/5.0L guy...The new Canon piece sounds good....for video, the stills are basically web-quality only, printouts are just ok. Then again with the new Sony Digital8 format just released that may be worth looking at due to the backwards compatibility and lower cost. LP From: issel@netcom.ca Date: Tue, 23 Feb 1999 Hi Larry: Just for your information we have a couple of guys looking into either updating or doing a new web page for high school racing. If that happens I'll let you know. Horsepower Heaven looks good! Jerry Look forward to seeing it. Always ready to try and do what I can for the High School racers! LP From: sysadmin@hardtail.com Subject: Motorsports show We just finished the Calgary World of Wheels. I'm not sure what's scheduled for Vancouver but Angelle Seeling was here signing autographs. She is a real sweety. Stephen I got to see Carlson at our show... he's a sweety too, but next year, you do Vancouver, and I'll do Calgary eh? LP Date: Mon, 22 Feb 1999 From: Andrew Closkey Larry, hope all is going well. I still can't look at your site because we only have Netscape 2.02 but oh well. One of the highschools put together a web site. Here is the address: http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Pit/5459/KRSS.html Talk to you soon. AC Another Prince George pal...good site too! LP Reply-To: "Bill Pratt" Subject: Drag Racing List Online Updated Greetings racers and fans! Drag Racing List Online has been updated with all the times from the NHRA Winternationals and from all the preseason 1999 testing. In addition, we continue our quest to build the DRL lists "backwards" as well, with lots of new historic listings. Our information is growing by leaps and bounds both in quantity and quality. We now have over 32,000 entries! If you haven't surfed by in a while, come check out our new navigation scheme and on-site search engine! As always, we are looking for our racing friends to update us on any info we are missing for their racing efforts. Whether we are missing whole years, certain cars, crewchief names, or are just a few cubic inches off, it's all important to us. We want the lists to be as complete as possible! This applies to you whether you raced ANYTIME from the '50s to the late '90s! PLUS!!! We want to put together a page for 1999 that lists all the heads up drag races from all over the country and world. We want to become THE place race fans can go to see WHERE THE MATCH RACING IS! Track owners, race circuit directors, racers, or fans: let us know where the action is this year and we will publish it! We have many more surprises in store, too! Last but not least, Danny and I want to welcome Bret Kepner back into the fold as a regular, day-to-day contributing editor for Drag Racing List Online. Bret's busy schedule has kept him constantly on the run for the past few years, but he is back and DRL Online will be much the better for it. Reno is back in town! Drop us a line and let us know what is going on! Thanks. Date: Sun, 14 Feb 1999 From: "Brian R. Dees" Subject: Speed Sport Special I just ran across your web site and the coverage of the "Reunion". I have been trying to find as much info, on the Speed Sport Special, as I can, including any and all pictures. You see, I grew up in Tucson, Ariz., the home of the "Special". My father was the attorney of the builders, Lyle Fisher and Red Greth, and their Tucson Dragway. This is where I first started racing. I am now of the age to slowdown alittle and build a few miniature versions of the cars that interested me most. I am the President of the Utah Miniature Automotive Guild and a tustee of the National Model Builders Museum. I would really like to get some pictures of the car with the "hood" off and some close-ups of the construction. Do you have any other pictures of the car, other than tose you included in you coverage? If you have any, I'd pay you for copies and all postage, etc. thank you for you help, Brian R. Dees I don't, but I'm sure somebody can help you out Brian. LP Date: Sun, 14 Feb 1999 Subject: Link Hi Larry, Great web site! I really enjoyed all of it. I would like my site to be considered for a link on your links page, and I will do the same. Here is the url & description.... http://www.magicnet.net/~cyclone "Cyclone's Famous Fords" Here you will see a display of pictures from the 60's and 70's Greatest Drag Racing and Nascar Fords in Motorsport history. The "Drag Racing" section includes A/FX Thunderbolt Fairlanes, Falcons, Mustangs, Comets, and Cougars. The "Nascar Page" shows some of the fastest cars ever to hit the highbank ovals. Thank You, Mike Bernard Best I can do in the time have Mike...LP Date: Wed, 10 Feb 1999 From: Jim Sorenson Subject: New links page... Man, I'm gassed, at the top of the HH Links page! With all 3 sites! That is SO cool! Thank you very much, Mr. Pfister! Keep up the tireless effort, we DO appreciate it...and when there's nothing new on HH, I now understand, a webmonkey's work is NEVER done. Later Jim

Larry, Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! You probably saved what ever sanity I may have. Check out my very basic effort at http://www3.bc.sympatico.ca/george_bell_designs Thanks Again, George
George Bell is a great artist who has been doing t-shirts and related art for years in this area. Nice to see that he has a site up. I'm sure it will progress to bigger and better things very soon Here is a small sample of his work. LP From: "arthur cimilluca" Subject: More from Norman Blake Hi Larry, we're getting ready for '99. Sites really coming along nice. Here are our last 2 runs of '98, courtesy of Norman Blake. Thats me putting Johnny in the lights. That's a bitchin' lookin'
race car. I love it! LP Date: Thu, 04 Feb 1999 Subject: Ready to rock ?? Larry: Hey, great job on the CC shop. Beautiful pictures and thanks for making it work on my little monitor. Congratulations on getting the work from Glen, the timing sounds like it was right on the money. As for Australia: things are really coming along as the following attachment shows... Busy, busy, busy.... Talk to you soon. Oh yeah, when's that video going to be ready? The trailer looked great. But I sure need a faster modem as the music and images kept breaking up and buffering like crazy. Bob "no rest for the truly wicked" Wilson
How about: Backdoor Bob's Badass B1 ('Backdoor' being a reference to 'Backdoor' Bob Struckness...whatever happened to that guy?). Quite the collection of aluminium don't you think? As for the video stuff, I'm still experimenting on compression...when I have time. One day I'll maybe get it right, but even on a good 56k line much of the video I see online works well on some systems, terrible on others. Oh well, we'll all have cable modems one day soon. Speaking of work, a bunch just came my way today, should keep me going for awhile. Relates a bit to stuff around here, so I'll keep you all posted. As for the trip to Oz, Bobby and I are still on track, the new Firewire Powerbooks will be anounced in a cpl of weeks...can you even imagine me and Wilson a million miles from home, in a strange land, but with an Internet hookup...
