I'm not totally certain, but after quick searches on Google, Amazon and Ebay could not find another drag racing Blu-Ray. I'm not saying they aren't out there, but if this is not the first drag racing BRD, it's one of the very, very few currently available. As for what you'll see, a good bit of it has been online for some time, but a lot of it has never before been available to the public. It's broken down into sections for wheelies, burnouts, squirrly passes and much more. There are a few wrecks, but not a lot. If you want carnage, this may not be for you, but if you love the sport and want to see how cool it still is, then this is two hours of solid entertainment HH style. The two hour video also includes roughly an hour of Nitro Nostalgia Funny Cars and a few other nitro nostalgia rides such as front-motored injected dragsters, and Fuel Altereds! Ya, it's nitro time at HH and this video delivers! You'll see some cool interviews, some of our most popular music videos, in-car HD footage that'll leave you wanting more, and our trademark slow motion that in HD is truly spectacular.
Western Canadian Silly Season in full swing What the heck did we do before the Internet? Could you image waiting for some print rag to release news a month or so from now that a local NHRA strip is hosting a bunch of AHRA events?!? That sound you hear in the mountain skies is Bill Phillips firing one up...a blown Hemi-in-Heaven I mean. It could be called the best kept non-secret in recent years around here, for despite the rumors along with a lot of people knowing about this for a long time, nobody spilled the beans until it was official. Now it's time for the fun to really begin. What the heck'll NHRA do? Threaten to pull the sanction perhaps? In a division with three major tracks (Medford, Acton and Spokane) either in limbo or rather tenuous operating positions? Spokane is particularly interesting as this is the home of the AHRA and the former last surviving bastion of this once great sanctioning body. The AHRA has not even held a race yet, but already has as many western Canadian events or 'sanctions' as NHRA. Can two sanctioning bodies live side-by-side like this? Make that three in Alberta with that IHRA place up in the provincial capital. Racers may run of decal space. One of the first considerations is insurance. This position was explained to HH recently by Eagle Motorplex Manager Joe Sye (photo below) who said drag racing in the U.S. has a number of insurance companies to choose from so when one is already in place it's a major problem to bring in another. Apparently this has been the major stumbling block with NHRA, ADRL, AHRA, and anybody else who has tried to do the double deal. This is not the case in Canada where Sye says there is but one insurance company, making that problem moot.
I suggest NHRA buy up a ton of ad space that will show on TV...oh, that's gonna get me in trouble. Only kidding friends. The date for this big new race in B.C. is August 14/15, and amazingly enough there are not many other races close to Eagle goin down that weekend. Bremerton has a $4000 race Sunday that includes the BC Super Shifters and the Super Comp group, and other than a few smaller regular races, this event has no real competition in the height of summer anywhere close to Ashcroft. Response from racers has been very positive, spectators will obviously love it, sponsors have got to be looking at it, so what could go wrong? When all this started up a while back it was 'suggested' that HH post something about the AHRA. I flat refused because I knew nothing about them, and basically said when they stage a few races, I would take another look at them. Just one look at their website makes me wonder. While there are a number of press releases about races and tracks signing on, there is nothing about any sponsors. Not one. Their sponsor page is 'under construction'. I'm sure they will come, but to tout so many major happenings and not have even one sponsor announcement on their website I simply have to wonder how deep their pockets are. Shades of that group back in 2001 (ADRA I believe), who had all kinds of big names involved, money, sponsors, tracks, races, TV contract, etc. who lasted two events before they went under in spectacular fashion. I dunno folks, it all sounds fantastic, but until this group actually has a good number of half decent events under their belt, I'll do little more than sit back and observe. The other things that could directly affect HH is the fact that this is apparently a televised race, that if so, would mean no other video cams on the starting line. And that the AHRA has an official photography company doing all their events also means no freelancers selling in the Eagle pits, legit media only please. Trust me folks, I am a really, really bad spectator, so if I can't make a living in once place, I have to go somewhere I can. Hey, for some of us it's a business, not a part time hobby/job. Isn't it all so silly, but definitely fun? All these unanswered questions, huge expectations, potential for mudslinging like we have rarely seen around here, totally unprecedented possibilities. Then again, if you think it's silly now, just wait, cause this is gonna get good. Then ad in all the fun MRP stuff such as the Richardson Driving School, Friday night burnout contests and those persistent rumors that the Pastime TV show may film here, and you have the silliest season we've had in a very long time.

LIVE Las Vegas PSCA & Testing video stream ----- PSCA final qualifying - records runs in Pro Street and Outlaw!
Thanks for all the video orders over the past 24 hours, we've almost sold out the initial run. A small fix to the closing credits and those who got the early discs will always know they got the first copies. As for the future, there are at least a half dozen feature videos just sitting there awaiting edit time...and for those wondering because of poor sales of Vol 1, I highly doubt it will be Wicked 2. I am leaning more towards a history of Pro Mods in the west as HH has footage going back almost two decades that includes some amazing never-before-seen video of the popular doorslammers. Once a decision is made in the next few weeks it will be announced here. Scotty Richardson Drag School coming to Mission? Western Alky Nostalgia Floppers split off to new
group Medford seeks new track operator Eagle Motorplex Spring Fling March 6 at Aldergrove Legion I got trashed recently for not posting more on the big wins at the 2009 Street Car Super Nationals by Canadians Dan Vogt in Pro Street and Dale Moznik in Outlaw 10.5. Ya, my bad, but it came at a time when I was unable to do much here. Now it's really old news, but not too old for me to post a link to a nice race summary on YouTube. PS: The first PSCA race of the year goes this weekend at THE STRIP at LVMS along with a pro test session.

SCHEDULE Between races here and Mission the fast door folks are already voicing concern about too many races instead of not enough. Though no races overlap between the tracks, a number of them are back-to-back weekends which could put some bank accounts in jeopardy. Obviously there could be worse problems, so I'll shut up and let the racers speak here.
Drag Race Canada annual vote for Canuck Drivers of the Year. VOTE NOW for the western racers who made the cut BCCCA 2010 elections see no changes He went on to explain a new part of the MOPAC Friday Night Street Legal events - burnout contests! "Early in the year we can't run very late because of the dew factor, so when we stop we'll start with the burnout contests and do the same thing at the street legals at the end of the year. Each winner of the burnout contests over the season will come back at the last street legal to decide an overall champion." Word on their website is that former bike drag racer 'Terrible' Tom Tourand is the new Webmaster. That's good news as we know Tommy, he's a good guy and will do the job well.
The announcers and crowd were amazed how well the car looked and performed for its age. In the fastest Pro Street field ever there were 56 cars entered and although the old Chevy started off a little slow, qualifying 27th out of the 32 cars qualified, old faithful started to show signs of the good old days as the rounds went on. He was one of the fastest cars on Sunday as he ripped off a couple off 6.29's and if it wasn't for a driver error (where did we get him anyways) he would have had the potential to take home the win and $20,000.00.
This last minute project, came with a lot of help from my friends. Let me first thank every one of these people, because without them it couldn't have happened.
CREW Bernie Duncan - the thinker, never forgets anything, and I mean anything.(keeps Dave and Trevor in check) knows more about motors than God himself. Gary Tiechrob - the motivator, he knows more than anybody would ever need to know about a clutch (new to the team in 2006, and just a short time in Pro Mod, he has become one of the best at tuning a clutch. Ryan Hinrichsen - the best chassis tuner in the world *the end* the most talented guy I know. He loves to compete more than anyone I know.

I would like to take this time to sincerely thank the executive and membership of the British Columbia Custom Car Association for their support and business for the past five years. Having had the opportunity to create and maintain their first website is something I'll always look back on with pride. Now that I have moved away from the area it's obvious the change had to be made. I don't know their future plans but I'm sure everything will be just fine. There are plenty of bodies around to make it even bigger and better. Speaking of local websites, take a look at the slick redo of Paul Grants 330images.com A good read for photographers. HH Hits 2007/8/9 update
Blair Alderton, of Moose Jaw, has been photographing drag races for a number of years, but could still be described as one of the new guys. His work has been seen all over the web but this is his first inclusion in one of the major drag racing magazines. "Theres only a handful of people that really understand what it means to make a cover of a glossy publication, and I have to say that this is my first semi-main stream dedicated drag mag cover" he told HH. "And most of the 2009 Nightfire feature pics inside are mine too." Not knowing his work would be on the cover, Blair sent this cool pic that we just had to post. Congrats to Blair who will continue shooting at his home track Saskatchewan International Raceway and other events that he can get to. For more of Blair's work check out his website nitroimage.ca Langley Burnout Contest...uh Cruise-In canceled! For years Friday and Saturday nights saw hundreds of tire toasters all over town driving organizers, police and much of the general public out of their minds. A few years back officials even looked at having an official burnout contest, but realized that would not work for too many reasons. Over the years the unofficial 'contest' would move from one part of town to another leaving the police scrambling to keep up with more 'criminals' than they had the manpower to deal with. Frankly, how those crazy nights lasted this long is amazing. The fact the cruise did a lot for many charities is a huge loss, as will be the business hit to many struggling downtown Langley establishments, not to mention the participants and spectators who came out in droves. Then again there were many locals who stopped going because it simply got too big and too corporate to be as much fun as it once was. There's a chance it may return in 2011. Hopefully it will as despite the many issues it was a great event for many people. 2009 Burnouts on Youtube --- Vancouver Sun --- Langley Times
Celebration of Life for Jason Dubs Saturday at The Strip at LVMS LAS VEGAS - The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway will
host a Celebration of Life for Jason Dubs on Saturday, Jan. 9 at noon.
The celebration will begin at the starting line of the drag strip
at noon and later move to the drivers' meeting room in the superspeedway's
infield media center at 1 p.m.
Chris Blair, LVMS' vice president of racing operations,
is Jason's brother-in-law. "The outpouring of support to our family has been tremendous and we appreciate your thoughts and prayers," Blair said. "No one really knew just how many lives had been touched by Jason here at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. We have family and friends coming in from all over the country. His brother is traveling here from England. We want to take this opportunity to assemble in one place to say 'thank you' for the love you've shown. "Jason's biological family and his LVMS family would like to invite everyone to join us on Saturday for a celebration of the life of Jason Dubs. Friends are welcome to share stories about Jason and pay tribute to him." Jason John Dubs, 37, is a native of Freeport, Ill.
He has been member of the starting-line team and a track preparation
specialist for The Strip at LVMS since 2003. Jason is regarded in
the motorsports industry as one of the premiere racing track preparation
specialists. Jason also works part-time at Belfab Racing in Las Vegas
and has constructed a number of race cars for oval-track and drag-racing
competition. Racers and street rod participants who would like to participate in the celebration by making a parade pass down the drag strip are welcome to attend and are asked to have their cars in the staging lanes at 11:30 a.m.

I was fortunate to have been able to meet this man a number of times and appreciate his humble nature and honest surprise that so many people remembered him, respected him, wanted to hear his racing stories and very much loved him. Herb died nearly a month ago, but you can read some info here, obit here , messages here and a video interview with him here, and finally an awesome tribute video here. Another more recent loss was the king of the outlaw drag strip George Ray. Here's a Google with a few links. More old-timer news comes from the Greater Vancouver Motorsport Pioneers Society 2009 Induction Ceremony this past October that saw drag racers Rick Johnston and Bob Kokotailo inducted. You can visit the group's site here, but it does not appear the 2009 info has been posted yet, and I've lost some info that was sent to me, so if anybody has some links on this please let me know and I'll post. Speaking of OLD...there's a cool 240 story here. More recent stuff includes the Mission Raceway Park 2010 major event dates released: May 28, 29 & 30 - Lordco BC Nationals The Canadian Motorcycle Drag Racing Association's All Bike Drag Series presented by Drag Specialties/Parts Canada featuring the Screamin' Eagle Nitro Series is pleased to announce our 2010 Western Race Schedule. 2010 CMDRA WESTERN RACE SCHEDULE News from Calgary is good Congratulations to the many, many track, group, and divisional champions and strong finishers from 2009. Our situation here made it impossible to keep up with them all, but the many other sites and message boards were full of information and congrats. Most of the banquets are done, but this coming weekend the annual NHRA D6 bash goes down in Seattle marking the first time HH has not provided a video in over a decade. No, it's not a good feeling, I would have loved to be there. Hopefully next year. Speaking of NHRA etc. there's tons of behind-the-scenes stuff happening. You have all surly heard about the management issues at Spokane. The best things I hear right now is that the track should be ok, but ya never know. More news out of Montana is that the web site is down, and beyond what we know and cannot make public right now, can tell you to hang on for an official announcement shortly. Meanwhile in Medford, it's really getting interesting as this string on Mater points out. Down in Glendora some of the staff cuts included veteran shooter Richard Brady among other National Dragster staffers. I canceled my sub to Digger and have not even seen one of the new magazine-sized issues. There's more coming here soon, but for now check out our video page as there are some new/old clips and trailers many of which you may have never seen before. I'll also put out the request now for news and views from all of you. I'll post as often as possible. And yes, there's a new video coming. May not make it for Xmas, but it's gonna be a way cool piece that will be available in HD as well as standard definition (SD) DVD. HH The Hits 2007, 2008, 2009 will is almost complete. Look for a trailer real soon. And how about an old link to the 2009 D6 Track of the
Year - Firebird Raceway in Boise Idaho and their gettin-better-all-the-time
wheelstand contest pics. And while yur at it, check out their
weekly oldie pics.
The HH video store has been reworked and is back online. All my waking hours are being put into a new video. Once that's done we will move forward with some new things.
Regnier, Oien, Jackman, and Bromley take wins at
the NHRA Division 6 Summit ET Race of Champions on September 5, 2009.
Each has earned the opportunity to race at the National Championship
at Pomona in November. Super Pro winner, David Regnier, from Bend, OR strapped a .002 light on Kent, WA's Lloyd York and ran his number with a 4 to score a .006 package in the victory. York had a stellar .007 reaction time, but it was definitely Regnier's day as his 66 Nova was nearly perfect. Regnier was racing for Madras while York is a member of Pacific Raceway's contingent. Pro was represented by two Spokane finalists. Dave Oien earned the victory with his 66 Cornet as he benefited by the red-light start from his competitor, Eric Wolfe. Wolfe's Fairlane was red by .004. Sportsman racer, Martin Jackman, from Eagle Motorplex in British Columbia was another beneficiary of a red-light start, when Medicine Hat, Alberta racer, Ted Buzynis went red. Jackman completed his run in 12.915 seconds at 93 mph to take the victory in the all-Canadian final. Pacific Raceway's Kevin Bromeley took the win in Bike/Sled over Woodburn Dragstrip's Roger Wolff in a double breakout finish. Bromley dialed 9.80 and ran 9.782 to Wolff who dialed 9.56 and ran 9.529. High School was won by Josh Wilson, representing Woodburn Dragstrip over Renegade's Jesse Neveu. Wilson drove his 93 Chev pickup with a .055 reaction time, and ran 16.734 to take the win. The Junior Lightning victory was claimed by Bremerton's Taren Smith over Spokane's Greyson Wolfe. Smith took the victory with a .054 reaction time and ran 8.039 at 77.70 mph. Junior Thunder's Meghan Molinari, racing for Portland, was victorious over Woodburn Dragstrip's Jerold Mix. Molinari was nearly perfect, running a 9.030 on a 9.03 dial-in at 73.15 mph to Mix's breakout 11.228. The Track Manager's Challenge was claimed by Portland International Raceway over Spokane County Raceway by a 36 to 30 margin. Woodburn Dragstrip came in third with 29 points and Firebird scored 27. The other first-day team scores were: Madras Dragstrip - 26; Bremerton Raceway - 24; Pacific Raceways - 21; Champion Raceway - 17; Eagle Motorples - 17; Mission Raceway Park - 17; Medicine Hat - 16; Renegade Raceway - 16; Coos Bay - 9; Lakeview - 7; Walla Walla Dragstrip - 6; Lewiston - 2; and Lost Creek - 1.
