Final Vegas update now posted HERE

HH Breaking News....I understand there is a meeting this week with a D6 track operator about possibly becoming the host site for a FMDRS event next season, details will be released in August.

10:30am "Finally the Pfister has come back to HH"...enjoy.

From the nhra newsgroup:

Just stopped in at your site. I've seen a lot of video on the net, most of it is the same old cookie cutter stuff. I've gotta say that this was a REAL TREAT! Forget about the little audio glitches, the quality and content set your video apart from everyone else's. The editing and commentary was right on the money , Hell, it's the first time in a LONG time that I've really been interested in watching a drag racing video. I found myself actually rooting for some of the cars as they made their way down the strip! This is a tremendous effort on your part and believe me, it is well appreciated! Congratulations on a top notch job! THIS is a site that EVERYONE should go and visit.

FULL THROTTLE NEWS

Thanks Jim! LP

8:30am It's been an ugly few days around here, but for the moment, we are running with no glitches. Though at the rate they have been turning up, I stress the line "for the moment".

Beyond that the quantity of email coming in has been tremendous, more than ever. So it is, I once again apologize to the many who have not received a response until now. This morning we will update this page with all the cool stuff that has come in, and answer the many queries we have not been able to until now.

That gets us down to the video stuff...hmmm where do I start? Boise & Mission customer vids will be completed this weekend, giving precious little time to once again 'start' on HH99...that's right folks we have not been into that little project for nearly a month. To have it complete by next weekend is possible, but doubtful, but I had better just shut-up, finish this and get to it eh?

Hi Larry, hope the move has gone well. I waited awhile to send you this, giving you time to catch up. The Fiat is at it's last stage of the build, next stop the track! If others are interested in our nostalgia racing group, go to my web site, and click Nostalgia Racing.

Thanks, and have a safe summer!

What a bitchin' race car!

As many of you already know, Edmonton's Track, Labatt Raceway, has undergone a name change. Same owners, same beer company ,but a product more inline with motorsports. The new name is Budweiser Motorsports Park. Labatt had a three year claim to the name, and at renewal time chose Bud to represent the track. The new name is part of a 5 year deal. The track has a new web page as well. Its not complete yet, but looks like it will be a nice one.... check it out here.... http://www.budpark.com

Tho't you'd enjoy a couple pics of Wayne Harry's latest Willys. During testing last Sunday 4/9/00 at Woodburn, Carl Harry managed a 6.95/195 after three previous aborted attempts. I was by there today and they found a cracked piston -- appears to be a manufacturer's defect (how could it be?) -- from the top down to the first ring. The paint is extremely bright.

I don't know if you are the person to send this to, but I noticed that you do not have a link to our race track in Edmonton on the Division 6 page. It can be found at labattraceway.com, but will probably be changed soon because the track is re-named this year to "Budweiser Motorsports Park".

VERY SPECIAL Boise FMDRS email now posted HERE

Larry, on the way to Boise from Victoria we had trouble with the motorhome smog pump seizing up, not knowing any repair shop in the border area we found Kershaw Performance in Racewest Partsline. Terry and his staff did an excellent job of getting us fixed and on our way even though it was almost quitting time. Would like to say thank you one more time and it is great the way racers help racers.
Russ Hancock and Lloyd Malovic

A rotten trip for my Island buddies as the bike windowed the block at Firebird. Better luck at Mission! LP

Larry, You would not believe how I won that 3rd round at Boise. I let go of the trans brake button and the steering wheel came off as I forgot to check to see if the lock was engaged...hehehe) When that happened I lifted my foot off the throttle completely and in a flash I stuck it back on and put my foot back in the gas and tried to run down the guy I was racing (name withheld due to possible embarrassment LP) but he said he miss judged the stripe and broke out...some luck!!
Thanks, Brett Waldron

Believe it or not, this is one of two messages I recieved in various forms over the past two weeks involving this exact same problem. Just a thought, but maybe check that wheel when you sit in the water...LP

HI LARRY, in the third round you missed the car skating in the oil ffom Hylands car and the water from those 2nd rate nitro things. I left some good black tire marks at 2 thirds track. The people who run the starting line should open their eyes. Lets get back to having some safe track conditions.
Jeff Jackson

I am beginning to realize Jeff is one of the most outspoken people around. I hope he doesn't get himself in trouble for announcing this kind of thing. I have edited his email in the past (and he let me know), so decided to post this one 'as is' and see what happens... As everyone is entitled to what I consider an honest heart-felt opinion. LP

Just in case no one else has pointed out a minor error in your second 4.16.00 6:30 am post... The new millennium does not begin until Jan. 1, 2001. The first year was 1 then came 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10... This would be a decade if they were years. Eleven would be the next year and the start of a new decade. Therefore, millenniums start on a ...1 and end on a power of 10. Further more, Jan. 1, 2001 will be the start of the THIRD millennium. The first thousand years took place from 1 to 1000, the second went from 1100 to 2000, the third will be from 2100 to 3000. AND, just cause you can't hear it enough, thank you for the work you do for drag racing in the northwest.
Nick Jondahl

Ok, I plead guilty. No more talk of the 'New millennium'...Missed them at Boise as they decided to do Vegas instead. New car news includes his mom soon to be driving the former Steve Federlin roadster in S/G. Look for the Comp team to be at the second MRP FM as the first one comes the week before Nick's finals. Nice to see somebody has their priorities straight... LP

Larry: Just got a new address for Northern Thunder. Maybe you'll want to update the link on your navigation page. Bob http://images.blowthedotoutyourass.com/i/url_03.gif

I think Flyin' Phil has a picture of the 60s Funny Car named that...

Leeland here!! Thanks for being at Boise! My wife and I had a great time! I was very excited to win my first Div. event in my rookie year. I went to Boise knowing that I was going to meet a lot of very good racers. I know they will want to give me a reality check at Mission. With luck I will do well.

Re: B&B FMD MRP video
Just a short note to let you know I checked out the video and think it is great. I work with Dave Brown on the new endeavour and was kinda choked that I couldnt make it last weekend. But I got to see one pass anyway thanks to the video. Hit the link on the bottom of my email and check out some of my work. I look forward to meeting you. Hopefully be back at Mission in two weeks.

And in the meantime make sure you also check out www.justpinit.com.

Hi Larry, just a note to tell you that you are doing one heck of a job getting this info out! I was thrilled to see the Boise stuff so quickly. The Mission video is awesome. I have been thrashing on my new 81 Malibu Super Stocker. I now hope to have it out for the 2nd Mission divisional. I will get ahold of you when it is going- to sign up for your program. I hope to test at Mission before the divisional, but nothing can happen fast enough for me.
Keep up the good work. The site is the best going.
Sincerely,
Jeff Goss Super Stock #6990

Thank you Jeff. Look forward to seeing the bottom of your car as it wheelies by me...LP

I have a car that breaks all the time too!...But I am sure that the PC doesn't try to kill you when it breaks! had been meaning to drop you a note and tell you how impressed I was with the video. It is definitely a cut above anything I have seen from the NHRA/Diamond P. Historically, I have hated the Real format because the quality was so terrible, but your stuff was by far the best i have ever seen. Keep up the good work and I will see you at Mission!
Casey

Thanks Casey, Iit will be nice to meet you. LP

"I seem to be ONLY able to save it to my hard drive and run it from there. Feedback please. does it work for you?" Well Larry if works FANTASTIC just FABULOUS please keep it coming etc.... It would be great if you could make the picture frame larger , clearer , cleaner , less file compression . I don't know next I will be asking for same day coverage of a D6 event ! Hmmmmmmmmmm! There is a thought ! Thank You. You are the Man ! Should I plan on buying a Video (the 99 tape) at the FMDRS May 3rd - 7th at Mission . The 99 tape we know it's out there !! Is it just refusing to come into the year 2000 ?? The X files next show...www

Our mandate for 2000 is to eventually have same day (or next morning) video coverage of all FMs and a bunch of happy video customers (both HH99 and race stuff). I still have some bugs to sort out, but thanks to many patient people it WILL happen. It will. it really will...LP

Just checked out your boise footage, sure worked good on my end!keep up the great work and thank's for having the best site on internet. ERIC VON BERGE 6308S/ST

Larry, Thanks for the pic. We hope to give you something a little better to shoot soon! Looks grim for Mission, this time KB isn't sending the block back till Fri, then there's a bunch of welding and machine work to do yet. I'm going to talk to "THE BONE" about it tonight, there's 2 major cracks to fix that were aparently there when I got it, any way were going to make it for Mission 2 for sure!
Talk to you soon Martin

Ah that sucks Martin, I was so looking forward to seeing that T/C GTO next weekend! Just a note to you visitors, Martin Stewart is one of the main people doing www.dragstore.com. One of these days we'll get together and work out how we can work together with this great site. Geez I need a secretary...LP

Larry, You did an outstanding job on the Boise coverage. And that shot of the Cruiser, Karen and I got a kick out of that one, saw one on the street a couple of weeks ago and went straight to the dealer to check it out. 04.28.00 4:00pm Finally got my RealVideo stuff sorted out thanks to the help of Matthew at SuperWebHost.com. Once again his plain, easy logic got me out of another jam. I told ya these guys were good.

Also got a new update on John Evans Super Comp site.

Now it's back to trying to get to all my email, etc.

04.27.00 7:00pm FYI: Junior Dragster will NOT be held at the May 5/6/7 Mission Federal Mogul event. Another FMFC, that of Lloyd Bandle has pre-entered, though it is said he will test at Woodburn this weekend then confirm Monday.

Unfortunately due to time constraints, and a lack of confirmed video customers I will not be at the Ashcroft Season Opener this weekend.

1:30 pm Boise coverage now complete with the posting of some hi rez images.

10:30 am An all night attempt to create a hi-speed version of the Boise video was thwarted when my Firewall detected one of the near hourly attempts to hack into my system (Rogers had better get a handle on this SOON) and crashed it. Will try again tonight. This IS the future of HH, and the reason why I am spending so much time on it.

The Boise FMDRS homepage is now listed on our Div 6 page, and the April 21 Mission hi-speed RealVideo file can now be accessed on our MRP schedule/resluts page.

This day will be spent completing the Boise project then updating this page. Good stuff coming soon Including: Hi -rez Boise Fotos, John Evans Racing Page update, Email like you won't believe...LP

04.26.00 10:20 Man am I STOKED! First guy to try it say the Boise Video works.

10:00pm Do any of the video files on HH work? I didn't do a damn thing, and none of them work for me.!!..Boise FMDRS Homepage includes a 56K TEST. Does it work for you?

FLASH! Mission FMDRS Pre Entries:

FEDERAL MOGUL FUNNY CAR (13 ENTRIES)

FEDERAL MOGUL DRAGSTER (8 ENTRIES)

10:00am I'm starting to feel like I own a racecar...one that breaks all the time. Just a rough guess, but I have probably spent the last few months fixing computer clitches about 70% of the time, and actually doing stuff the remaining 30%. I suppose that's the way it is when you try to push the envelope, but it is quickly burning me out.

04.24.00 10:30pm OK, I'm kinda back to normal here. Email is back and the response to 'the video' is so awesome I can't believe it. From the staff of RealTV to racers, companies and visitors from L.A. to Alberta it's been a major hit. AND there's more on the way!

Boise piece is almost done, AND will include all final rounds and more! PLUS some still images too. THEN a very overdue major update. FOLLOWED by a complete price schedule for our video services. AFTER WHICH...

So much neat stuff has come in...don't stop people, yur makin' this place work! LP

11:00 am yesterday was a near totally washout at MRP, as I arrived just as the rains came to finalize the day's fun. Back to spend Easter with the family, and now it's work time. Got the email back up minutes ago, so will get to that asap. Plenty of interest for everything HH out at the track. It's getting to the point of near saturation, so I must now sit down sort it all out and get back to everyone. And I REPEAT, I know of all the bad links, non-answered email, etc, etc, etc. I will get to them.

Last week was a bit of a disaster in that I dropped everything else to produce a very rush, big buck job that has now fallen flat, since this client has no way of communication other then between 9am and 5pm. Sorry, but this biz requires a LOT more than that. So I'm not only down two days, but the money that job would have brought in along with what I missed out on because of it this weekend at the track, which may well force now me to turn down a great job this coming weekend...gimme a day or so. I have some decisions to make.

Boise FMDRS completion will be first up, then the Boise clients, 'other' overdue clients, then MRP clients, Vegas stuff, HH99, RealVideo for the 28-56k people, some kind of advertising package for everyone asking about getting on this site, starting to get the picture are you? I hope to be back on track about Wed-Thur. Hold off any further requests until then please. LP

04.22.00 11:00 pm So Trevor Lowe goes 6.43/219...his best run EVER.

Our email box is jammed closed...so please don't send any more until we clean this out?

Dinner with Mr & Mrs Rich Carlson tonite...So MRP door cars ROCK. Marshall, The Victoria guyz, Spargo...what a bunch of bad ass rides. Dave Richardson wheelstood his Camaro BIGTIME today...film here soon.

Last nite's video blast has done me in for tonite. One more day then we confidently move into the first ever edited Federal Mogul Drag Racing Series high-quality online video. I told those News I would have sumpthin' hot for 'em...

So what's this about a big Pat vs Bucky thing? Animosity between those two? Who said WHAT? Is it WWF alky style? I dunno. What YOU know?

COMING SOON ONLY TO HH:

'The Strip' like no other website has dared to show you...

The Junior Dragster/Wally debate continues...

LOTS of new car stuff...

only...exclusively...drag racing from a western canadian perspective.

LP

1:30 am I don't think it's ever been done before. Not like this. Not with this quality. If you have a high speed Internet hookup prepare for the NOW in drag racing Internet. It's our first test. The audio sucks, but we'll get it. So now without further delay.

Horsepower Heaven presents yesterday's (Friday, April 21, 2000) action hilights from Mission Raceway Park in RealVideo. -Larry Pfister

Thanks for the suggestion Willie.

04.21.00 9:00 am Boise Saturday coverage now HERE. More FU stuff too...

And yes, I have a bunch of email to post here, links to ad and fix, etc...I know.

7:00 am Have a number of new responses posted on the FU page. Interesting concepts, but surprisingly none from parents of Jr racers, who were rather vocal 'behind the scenes'...

Had a rush job delay the Boise Saturday coverage. It will continue into this morning, but am working on it between other stuff.

04.20.00 10:30 am A pair of detailed responses to yesterday's FU are now posted on that page. Interestingly, both came from Woodburn people. Thank you gentleman, I (and others) greatly look forward to more on this.

Working to have Boise Saturday coverage up later today. LP

04.19.00 1:00 pm Boise Friday coverage starts here.

11:00 am My email box was full of some serious stuff when I awoke today. For that reason I spent the morning in an attempt to deal with it. If you have anything to do with Junior Dragsters or Bracket racing, I strongly suggest you check out the latest edition of FIRING UP.

I also expect to have first installment of the Boise coverage up in an hour or so.

Have also added URL for CPSA in schedule section below to the left. MRP weekend results now posted there. Thanks Bob!

04.18.00 Looks like another server problem as I tried to post this, but cannot.

8:30pm Well it seems that doing this FMDRS thing days later after everyone else has already posted a bunch of stuff is quite the challenge. After sitting here for a couple of hours and trying to decide how the heck to do this and not duplicate what is already up at one of the many fine sites, I'm sorta burned out. A fresh start early tomorrow will hopefully come up with some new ideas, so for the remainder of the evening I will do some images capture/manipulation/compression and probably just post a ton of pictures tomorrow, along with some exclusive info some have sent in along with my notes. The past fives days just kinda caught up to me today, so please forgive. And yes, there is a lot of neat email that has come in I will get to as well.

MRP Street Legal news includes word that my boy Glen Braid ran as quick as 7.75 and as fast as 178mph in the W4F.com Racing Canso this past Sunday at MRP. With a slightly new combo he also got by '99 champ Don Murray in a wild final. Murray, we are told, showed with new suspension and bottle, so look for an improvement from him next time out. Also of note was a Pat Musi motored shoebox combination from Washington state that will be out later in the season. In an earlier pass during time trials Braid hooked the biggest wheelie of his career, one that continued well through second gear. With Rock 101's Bro Jake along with James and Johnny of What's4Free.com in from Arizona it was a great debut for the team...now if I can only find that darn CPSA site URL I'm sure we can get much more info...attn. Mr. Strain - please help!

noon Files have been transfered from the Powerbook, fives rolls of film ready to be delivered to the lab, five hours of videotape waiting to be logged, etc. Trying to have something later today, killer email has come in to include in the coverage so many of you have remined me you are waiting for. While you wait here are the other places coverage is already up:

Firebird Online

Federal Mogul

NHRA

Summit

I have no idea what happened at MRP this past weekend...maybe somebody can send email...

Later: LP

04.16.00 6:30 am April 17, 2000 Boise Idaho- It is a day of rejoice in The Land of the Leaders. The first champions of the second millennium of drag racing in NHRA's Division Six have been crowned at the house Bill built...and baby, there are some reasons for us to celebrate. Throughout the past four full days we have lived drag racing like few get the opportunity. Surround it with the testosterone overload caused by a new toy..uh 'tool' or two and you find your friendly neighborhood webmaster trying in vain to absorb it all.

It all came to a head today. All the work, all the effort of so many people made this a day we can definitely call a benchmark. It is now perfectly clear that our plan is going to work. So many people committed to the support of HH today it made my head spin trying to take it all in. From the entire New family, to a number of NHRA people to, above all else, the racers themselves I know this is going to work.

Right now it's nearly 2am. This latest session began at 6am yesterday. You can all now hopefully excuse the lack of true substance here. In a few hours I leave for home. A ten hour (or so) drive with my buddy Rich Carlson. With me goes a financial security that will last until the next time I meet up with the Div. 6 Traveling Hard Launch Band at Mission Raceway in early May. That hasn't happened in a long time. All you regulars know where to find the results of this day, as now I must retire and prepare for an update of monumental proportions. And no, I have not checked my email in days.

I have some awesome stuff to share with you, but tomorrow is a travel day, so please don't expect much immediately as this stuff takes time.

I now look forward to actually having the time to actually get that darn video done, go nuts on this site, and maybe even take one day off.

To all those who assisted, you know who you are, thank you. You did your part, now it's my turn.

For those of you among us...prepare to ROCK...Firebird style!

LP

04.16.00 6:30 am In a word ...'frustration'. If it wasn't one thing it was another, Obviously many of you have experienced the same thing just trying to get onto this site. From a remote location like Boise? In the words of drag strip operators everywhere "Don't go there". For the past three early mornings and late nights I have tried to no avail to get online.Everything at this end worked, but 'Murphy' nailed us head on.

Whatever, It's almost 7am, we have to leave for the track soon where there is unfortunately not the hookup we require to update from there. I'm writing this as I am online and I don't want to run up a stupid big bill, so here's what little I have for now and hope to be able to update bigtime later tonight (if the weather holds...and right now it's a lot cloudier outside than any day yet)...and if our phoneline, etc works.

BOISE FMDRS HOMEPAGE HERE

04.14.00 1:30 am Can you believe this? The new Powerbook is living up to it's reputation as the baddest laptop alive. We sit here in the Boise hotel ready to do the first HH remote update in four years. Awesome. Boise stuff starts HERE. And this is just the beginning...

04.12.00 An absolutely outrageous past two days. Mere hours before I leave for Boise with the Top Comp blown alcohol dragster team of Cowie & Paulik, and I have not even started to pack or prepare for the trip...well I sorta have and that's where this saga begins.

After a short period of negotiation and planning I am absolutely thrilled to be able to announce an official association with Glen Braid of W4F Racing. My side of the deal will start with a website that I will begin when I return from Boise. His side is sitting on my desk in front to of me. That's right troops, after years of dreaming, HH now has at our disposal a brand new loaded to the nuts Apple Powerbook. It's the final piece of hardware in a system that will allow this website to update live from remote locations with not only stories and photos, but audio and video as well.

Since I got home with it last night I have spent hours configuring and setting up this complex marvel of technology. At this point everything works, but you never know until you get it out into the field, fire it up and see what happens. The plan is to use the one single phone line at Firebird Raceway to update as often as possible. Scott New has done his part, now it's my turn.

Hearken back to when we had that ancient 6100AV PowerMac in the tower of the Eagle Motorplex in 1996 at the Div 6 Bracket Finals... got interviewed by Bob Frey then featured on the NHRA Today television show. Now it's the year 2000, Firewire has become exactly what I said it would be four years ago. HH back on the bleeding edge of this new technology, and baby are we ready!

How ironic is it that this weekend is also Glen's first race at MRP with Don Murray and all my other local friends. I won't even be there, but hear that our now infamous Vegas crew will be, so if it all works out we will even be able to update the Mission race from Boise!

I wish I had time to lay out a better update here, but am just bushed. 5am will be here too quickly, and besides, I'll should have about four hours tomorrow to sit in the truck and work on the site. Awesome! THANKS Glen...and once we get this all up and solid, I hope you all take a moment to thank him too, cause it's his substantial investment in this website that will make it better for everyone.

We are gonna rock in Boise like we never rocked before! I don't know if the hotel has a hookup, so look for us live from Firebird early Friday morning with updates comin' at ya all day long.

And if by some chance I missed something in all this, don't fret none now, as this is only the beginning, the beginning of drag racing on the web unlike anybody has ever done before.

Wish us luck. LP

PS: Thanks to Shredder for coming on board with all the other racers on the HH video team. He gives us ten teams to do. The trip is paid for. Thanks people.

04.10.00 Ad Chad n Dad Barclay, Paul Nero & Gord Merkley to the Boise FMDRS HH video team. Also of note is 1999 Div. 6 Super Comp Champ Don Rhyne (special thanks to Steve Cozakos) who wants his entire seven car POS Racing team done for the entire season! That's the kind of thing that perks me right up! I have room for a few more, so keep that email coming in. If you don't get a response, make sure you contact me at Firebird. Every single one of these orders helps a bunch!

Have received a couple of emails regarding the Import Challenge 2 Drags at Seattle. Coverage has been added at http://nwstreetracing.com so go check out the pics and results from Saturday's SIR event. The message board is up. Leave your mark on the NWSR message board and let people know your opinions. HH Note: Excellent photo coverage (on this killer layed out site) of this event makes us wonder why the heck Darren doesn't have a starting line foto pass.

More Vegas photos are said to be coming our way soon, as our HH crew all ended up with head aches for some strange reason...Don't forget to go to Firebird Online for all the latest leading up to this weekend's first major Div 6 event of 2000...will we see another assault on the record book? The Federal Mogul alky classes should be awesome, as many of the best cars in the country will be there...don't forget the always exciting booked in Nitro Cars, and much, much more. I wish I could 'speak' but I just can't...for tonite. You all come on back tomorrow as we might have something very special to tell ya about...LP

04.09.00 CONGRATULATIONS to Div Sixers Pat Austin FMFC runner-up in Las Vegas today! Also to our semifinalists Mark Hentges in FMD, Byron Setters in Super Stock, JR Leerkamp in Super Comp.

11:00am Vegas insider INSTANT update: ....JR Leerkamp got married here in Las Vegas before his second round of eliminations and is still in after the fourth round, Mary-Anne Method is still in, The Worm went out in the fourth round, Bill Kost is still in, The Ferd lost in the fourth (I think). The Finnish guy with the Nova is still in eliminations, Mark Faul red light in the third, that's all we can remember but I'm sure you have all the info from NHRA. Mike Tyson is a loser!!!!!!! Gives the finger and rubs his balls at the fans after they boo him!! Anyway we hope to get the pics to you tonight and give more info to you! We will bring you a t-shirt too!!

RIGHT ON Vegas fotos here

9:00 am With so many things on the go, I simply must sit down this Sunday morning and update the ole website. With 452,537 hits last month, I am constantly thinking of how so many of you come here day-after-day with religious-like zeal seeking the latest 'HH style' news and views. For a site dedicated mainly to Western Canada and the US Northwest your interest in what goes down here on HH continues to amaze me.

I have to begin by thanking our family members who assisted with the move last Saturday, and continue still. You were many, your efforts intense. We could not have done it without you all. Thanks to the racers of Div. 6 (more on you later). Also thanks go to the emailers to HH, for without your quality input, none of us would as entertained as we are. Speaking of which, let's go back a few days and read some...but first a report from 'The Strip':

Vegas insider: Mike Tyson was on the line yesterday during Pro Stock motorcycle. When introduced the crowd booed him bigtime. Mike's reaction? A swift grab of his crotch and a one finger salute! I doubt if you'll see those pics on the corporate site, but if anyone has some HH would be happy to post them. The heat was unbelievable with temps in the 90s, making those northwest rain umbrellas standard equipment as sunblockers. Best seats for the 'real' people are the 200mph club (or whatever they call it) as they are just below the 'suites' on the west side that shadow them from the afternoon on. Gets you out of the wind too, which if you know this desert town, comes up in the afternoon nearly every day and can be very, very stout...How about that Steve Federlin getting by Dale Carlson in round one of FMD. Wow what an upset. Speaking of which were the FMD guys really asked to go back to the pits after sitting in the lanes so the pros could get their runs in? Don't know what happened to Bucky...you go ask him ok? Our friend John Evans had smokin' lights all through time trials only to fall in round one. We'll see him in Boise and get some info for an update on his site next weekend. Doesn't appear that this race will be a repeat of the D6 domination of Phoenix, but heck it is Vegas...a new track...a less than perfect raw surface, and we Leaders are so used to running on such great tracks...ok, ok this suck will shut up...The air show is said to be maybe better than the races. Situated a stones throw from Nellis AFB (ya, the guys and girls that patrol the skies over Area 51) the pilots seem to love buzzing the tower...the drag strip tower...all day long! We are assured some digital images may come our way from the HH gang down there, so hopefully our crew will stop pulling handles long enough to figure out how to send attachments with their new PC laptop.

Ok, now roll back the calendar a week or so and lets rock with this. And please realize some of these are more than a week old:

The Braid/Murray word war continues. Do you think these guys are serious or are they just working the web to get people out to those MRP street legal races...which (how 'bout that) begin next week:

Murray: A RIGHT, WANT TO SEE THE TAPE OF THE ONLY TIME I COULD GET THEM TO STAGE UP BESIDE ME IN 1999 WHO GOT THE WIN LIGHT? WHO GOT TO THE 7'S FIRIST? I GUESS I JUST WON THE CAMPIONSHIP BY FLUKE! MAYBE THE ALCOHOL FUMES ARE STARTING  TO AFFECT HIS MEMORY!    1999 PRO STREET CHAMP! [ACAULLY DRIVEN ON STREET!] PS SPEAKING OF  KAHOONAS  LP  ARE YOURS BIG ENOUGH TO POST THE TRUTH!

Braid: Well, fluke may not be the right word, but I do recall he used a 'substitute' car to gain points a few times in 99. We feel if your car is broke, you are out. Can't do that in 2000 as the rules have been changed.

HH: Well folks we understand both guys will be out in one week at MRP. Though we'll be in Boise we hope to be able to post updates on what is sure to be one of the most exciting rivalries in the west. Here's what one Southeastern American visitor said about it:

How about Glen Braid and Don Murray at Wrestlemania! This could be promoted and actually put people in the stands if done properly....in other words "no dicking around."

Now on to other stuff:

A new web site dedicated to nitro drag racing, is up... www.nitrofan.com It features articles by some of the best names in the business, plus photo galleries by several drag racing photogs, including myself. Let me know what you think! Joel Gelfand

Anything by 'The Director' and friends is sure to be 'interesting'. I did check it out and it's well worth a spot on any drag nuts bookmark list. The Las Vegas Review-Journal just picked it as best drag site.

Larry, Hope your move is going well. Too bad you couldn't make it out to the track this weekend. We had the 63' Vette out for the first time. After sorting out a few small glitches, we ran a best time of 9.61 @ 148mph on the stop. Maybe in a couple weeks we'll open it up. Glen at Corvette Specialties did a wicked job on the paint as you can see. See you in Boise!
Chad and Dan Barclay S/G 6079

Geez I wish I could guys, but that jpeg attachment you sent was corrupted and crashed my email server, forcing me to trash it before viewing it....oops better luck next time.

Thank you very much for putting my picture on horsepowerheaven.com Living on the Island it's hard to get any recognition of the sport of drag racing. I would like to thank the staff of Mission Raceway for helping me get my gas license in one day. Six good passes. saved me $$$$.
Thanks again everybody: Ed & Lori Hutchinson

Larry: You've obviously got some kind of terrible virus inhabiting your web page. At the bottom of the last page of weekend photos from Mission, there was some weird alien being that caused my monitor to start smoking and steaming. Has anyone else reported this phenomenon yet? So how much is it gonna cost to get that alien pic off the page? Or is turn-about fair play? Touché, ya got me... but good, bro! Have fun moving. I'll help on inventory if you'd like, but as for heavy lifting -- the heaviest lifting I do these days is my picking up my pay cheque. Bob "The Alien" Wilson

Just want to leave a few notes of my Outlaw street Car. I recently moved to BC from Calgary and brought my 1969 GTO Judge. it's got a full nitrous big block out of Les davenport's shop with a Pro Stock back half, and am looking forward to running at mission in the year 2000. look for it in the near future!
Thanks for your time: Ron Crookshanks

Hi Larry. I really enjoy your site and wonder if you might have decals for HH we could run on our bracket car a little free advertising for you and a way to say thanks for all the great info you bring to us.
Thanks Wayne Rasmussen

I wish I could afford to Wayne, but at this time I cannot. If any sticker company can work me a deal I would be happy to talk about how we can work together, as this request is one of many I get for this exact thing. LP

http://www.nwstreetracing.com EvEnTs ------ Don't forget, the next NW event will be held at SIR on April 8th. The first even was rained out, so everyone cross your fingers and pray that the weather will cooperate a little more this month. The first Portland event will be held at Woodburn Dragstrip the FOLLOWING Saturday, April 15th.

All this and much more over at this neatO site

THE fat pro pink 37 sedan did a little motor mods this winter and made a very easy pass in Seattle. Left at 3200 rpms and shifted at only at 6800. the fatpro did 9.51 at 142.9. Then traveled over to Tacoma WA. and put the lady on ALSTONS dyno it put out 650 at its wheels. THANKS LUKOVITCH ENGINES MI. We are looking forward too some of the super Mission races this year. Also LARRY BUTCHER the best bitchin 34 Ford 9.18 last yr at Mission's old timer race put a 300 hp juice bottle on it and put it on its top in Utah. He will be back to Mission along w the purple 40 Willys and the forty ford plus some other super cars. Thanks so much for great folks and a super track Richard Shannon

I just realized the Mission Loafers BC Oldtime Drags in August is the same weekend as the NightFire nationals in Boise. Sorry Mission and my Loafer pals...

Hey Larry, Two whole messages in the new year. This is really not me. Bob has made a very potent and for him a very Tame Statement, to this point. Having been actively involved in this sport ,SIC, since 1963, nothing has changed regarding " THE BS", just another page where the customer is not wanted. The people who pay the freight, buy the parts and support the tracks EVERY race day not just the hallowed FMDRS for a shot at a Wally are still the door mats. Hey I know when I'm not wanted. My wife and I can park the race car and go water skiing instead. But there are no clocks in the bay at the Lake. So again maybe Mr. Blair will have some positive news for all The Door Mats. Marvin Orser (Kathi's Klown Racing) X680 Pro.

I knew this just would not die quietly, but do understand our DD is handling every message like this personally. A class act.

Hi Larry, and thanks for providing an excellent pic of the 66 Chevelle at Mission last weekend. Gordon's business partner, Ron Shumey had an opportunity to view the pic at your website and was very impressed! He doesn't get out to the races, he prefers to golf - but he supports Gordon with his obsessive compulsive horsepower addiction just the same. I was giving him remote instructions on how to access the photo at your website when I heard him yell - HEY YOU DIDN'T TELL ME IT WAS THAT GOOD!!!  Ahhhh, looks like we got another follower.
Thanks again, Mrs. Motors (Barb Merkley)

Cool stuff from the SS/F record holder camp. Yur welcome folks!

Hello Larry, Been awhile so I thought I'd drop you a line. The March Meet was a blast! I was on the rail for most of the three days and have about six hours of video, hope you can make it down to Bakersfield this year. Heard both John Hyland and Steve Federlin both ran low five seventies in testing at Woodburn. Thanks for posting your new photos from Mission, I always enjoy my visit to your site and as usual, good job! Should see you down the road sometime, take it easy. George Adams

If you are not regular on George's NWDRAGRACING.COM site, then shame on ya. It's a wonderful place full of neat stuff.

Hello Larry this is Leeland King. Just got in from the race...me and Mike Scott in the final of bikes...great start for our team....not much of a race though. Mike and I in the finals both days at Bremerton ET Circuit of Champs race Mike won on Sat and I won the big race on Sunday
Thanks Leeland King
Racers Finishing Touch crew uniforms... see us at all the div. 6 races..

Another big supporter of HH, we'll see them in Boise!

Hey Larry, On the last run at Mission Mike Giuliani's funny car broke the wheelie bar on the launch went up 6 feet in the air, three wheeled and hit the surface hard ruining the chances for Boise. The frame is broken in several places and hopeful will be ready shortly after Boise. MAYBE with a new Car!!!!!
Angus Murphy

Oh MAN what a major bummer for BC's foremost flopper dude. I understand there are photos and we are working to either get some or post a link to where that can be seen...right Phil H?

I want to thank the racers who have responded to my plea for video support at Boise. They include: Shawn Kvaas, Mike Scott, Leeland King, Brett Waldron, The Towner family and one other multi car team whom I have not yet confirmed. I would still like to have a few more, and to perk your interest even more want to mention that once you are on the list, chances of you getting exposure here increase as I usually only video clients or cars that simply strike my fancy for any of a number of reasons. While I try to be as unbiased as possible around here, I do make a point of supporting those who support me. Also of note are the many Mission regulars who have signed on for those races. I will recognize you asap.

Well that's about it for now friends, I hope I didn't miss any emails. It's now time for me to tune into the RealAudio broadcast of the Vegas race. Thanks again for your interest and support, I hope to be able to get back to regular updates from here on.

One last item for today: I said earlier that HH would debut a whole new web deal at the Boise FMDRS. I very much want to do this at Firebird Raceway as the New family have always been tremendous HH supporters, and I would love to be able to do it not only for you and I, but for Bill, Scott, John, Brad and all the great people at Firebird too. I hope to make one or maybe even two major announcements sometime before we leave on Thursday, (keep your fingers crossed, as it will take some amazing efforts from more than just me to bring it all together in just three days). So c'mon back real soon as this stuff is gonna be big.

And I have not forgotten a few more 'feature' type updates to come including Andys Art, MM2000 and more. LP

04.06.00 1:00 am Managed to get the office nearly all setup today, so will try for as major HH site update tomorrow or Saturday. In the meantime I couldn't resist posting this report from Vegas:

Hi Larry......We are in Vegas for the first offical day at The Summit Nationals, (Thursday). Wow is it ever hot here and a good tail wind was at its best. Due to all our confusion and being up since 3:00am (arriving in Vegas at 10:30am), we forgot to bring the digital camera, but promise to have something for you tomorrow. The Vegas Motor Speedway is something else. The drag strip and facility is beautiful, all the racers have given the thumbs up. Lots of Div. 6 racers here, lots of class cars but tomorrow will be better. One incident today as a Comp Eliminator Dragster went into the sand trap after a 200mph pass, the tail wind didn't help him slow down. He was not injured but the Dragster was. With interest to the SIR announcement we will start the gossip asap, we also have an idea who will take over SIR. This is a long shot, but while we are drinking our Canadian Coors Lite in our room at The Key Largo (thanks to duty free we took on the plane), an educated guess would be SIR and Vegas Motor Speedway becoming partners in some jackpot kind of a way!? What do you and your fans think? Well we will update you tomorrow night sometime, we gotta get out and play some of the money games. That's why they call it Lost Wages!!!
See ya Sib, Willie (Earp), Ira, Dave and Vicki

Thanks folks.

One other thing: Our new digs just got an awesome security system put in and I cannot say enough on how well the job was done. It's the third one that Gord and Doug of Safe & Sound Security Systems Ltd. have done for me, and each one has been perfect in every way. Doug Fraser is the guy you want to contact if your home or business needs a system. Please tell them HH sent you and don't forget to ask Doug about his bitchin' blown Nova! LP

04.05.00 2:00pm Whoever said moving was hell is a liar...it's far worse. After more screw ups than I care to remember, I am finally back up and running with the infamous Rogers @Home service. For anyone wanting to go the high speed route, I will soon be able to tell you the differences between the two leading kinds: cable and ADSL. In the meantime, if you have access to either of the two, DO IT as you will never regret it. My cable service is $35 a month, and as this site moves toward more and more video, in a year (or less) a high speed connection will make all the difference in the world as to what you will be able to enjoy here. You 56k people will not be left out in the cold, you'll just spend a lot more time here...but that's all down the road.

So what's been happening since I was offline? Lots. As I gradually get to my email for all the juicy details I'll leave you with the biggest item to come across this desk in a long time. Seattle International Raceway will soon close, therefore loosing the NW Nationals to Pomona, who will in turn give up the World Finals to Vegas. I can hear the stuff falling out of your mouths now as your chins hit the floor. It is said to be a one year only plan as S.I.R. receives a total rebuild for the 'Post Rock' era. Event locations will go back to normal the following season...then again where would YOU rather go to the finals, beautiful downtown east LA or Rock Vegas???? More when I can confirm all this.

A massive amount of stuff in the planning stages as I ready for Boise in two weeks. I am not sure just how much I can do here before that, but like always will do my best. It's good to be back...but I wish I was heading to Vegas...LP
