05.30.00 Billy Evans continues his web resurgence with a breaking story on the Grapevine.

05.29.00 FIREBIRD PRO MOD UPDATE: Once again the West Coast Pro Mod Association put on some kind of show last evening in Boise. Danny Rowe took his 1938 Chevy to a final round victory over Pat Stoken's '69 Camaro. Earlier, in the final qualifying session, Rowe smashed the Firebird Pro Mod record with an amazing 6.49, while Kirk Kuhns captured the track speed record for the breed with a fine 214.96. Unfortunately Kuhns may not make the Mission date this coming weekend as Scott New describes his wild second round race with Trevor Lowe:

"It was like David vs. Goliath in the opening match. It was Canada vs. USA, two former Fox Hunt champs-Lowe and Kuhns. Out of the gate, Lowe drilled Kuhns .460 to a .548 and never looked back carding a stout 6.78-203.71. Little did Trevor know in the lane next to him Kuhns dropped a valve at the 500', detonating the engine, and oiled his tires. The car went sideways twice, up on two wheels at the 1200' mark (just about going over on its roof), when Kirk pulled the chute. The car then careened into the concrete wall just past the finish line, extensively damaging the whole right side of the car. Kirk was dejected, but ok, with plenty of work to do to the bodywork on the right hand and the engine before his next trip out. To say the least, it was one wild, no-make that WILD ride by the defending Fox Hunt champ. "

For complete details on the race please goto the Firebird Online website, and remember this weekend...MRP...Lowe ran three tenths quicker here than he did at Boise...weather will be cool and quick...oh baby!

And Les Jantzen has an idea for all those old nitro burners just sitting around:

Amateur TF 1975 lbs min 500 cu in max(internal combustion engine) 300" max- 98 min wheelbase any type fe, re, fc, alt, etc 10% blower od 14:71 max(14.2 restraint) wheels&tires 17x36 max 40 gallon pump max no clutch management,4 disc max, trans optional The object is more affordable racing back off some of the later safety requirements also some of the later frame requirements. The way to equalize the cars performance is through the use of different rear axle ratio's. This is the cheapest to change and affects the performance instantly.Seems to be many more cars and stop the blower wars and the uncertainity in the Federal Mogual class, but could also stand alone. 32 car field 2 rds qualifying $500. non qualifiers $800. per rd $2000. ru additional $3000. win additional $1000. low qualifier  Just one idea and would love to see someone work with this and see if the Assoc. and racers were receptive.  might be a way to involved both older and newer teams in cost effective nitro racing.
Les   2rd to qualify

05.28.00 CONGRATULATIONS to Pat Austin on Win Number 70! MORE HERE

ASHCROFT UPDATE: Since Larry couldn't make it this weekend, I thought I'd give a quick update. As you may have guessed, the weather played a major role in this weekend's event. It rained on and off all day Saturday, and Sunday was even worse. The weather gods gave us a couple hours of rain, then a couple hours to dry. By 4:00pm, first round eliminations still hadn't started. Saturday's racing came to an abrupt end after a nasty top end mishap.

Jason Mercer, driving dad's yellow Super Gas Datsun threw a rod through the oil pan, got a little out of shape, then got right out of shape.  After a flip, and a half dozen barrel rolls, Jason finally came to a stop on top of the left guard rail. Seconds later, Jason was out, unharmed.  The car wasn't quite as lucky The entire body, right front wheel, battery and radiator were removed by the crash, and although the chassis held together, the car was pretty much a write off. Jason said that he'll be ready to get back behind the wheel of his Super Gas Vega at Mission. Saturday's show included all the normal classes, but a couple cool test vehicles showed up.

First was Glen Braid in his fancy street legal hotrod. I didn't get too see all of his runs, but he did make a couple cool half passes. Also making a visit to Eagle Motorplex was Keith Koreki's PRO MOD mustang. Keith spent the weekend sorting out problem after problem.  His weekend ended Sunday morning after he dropped oil during his burnout. Hopefully he gets things sorted out in the next couple weeks.  I've even heard rumors about a TOP COMP appearance. That's it for now. We'll see you in a couple weeks. - Chad Barclay

Larry.....Just a note to say that Dave Boyd was released from hospital today and on his way to a full recovery. He is feeling great considering all that happened and should be back to his normal self within a few weeks. Julie is doing great also, she is so thankful to those doctors who saved his life. Dave and Julie will be back at the track with their Top Fuel Bike in a couple weeks or so. Jim Sibley is now home and has another week before he is allowed to do to much. He starts therapy soon there after. We hope to see Sibley at the track as everyone's crew chief for the next couple months or else we may see his Dragster sooner than later? Time will tell! Now the healing starts for these two, it may be a while but They Will Be Back!! -Vicki Strell

Rich Carlson just called to say he was nearly home at 9pm from Medford. This means the car count was rather small, as they began elims at 8am and were done before 2pm today. I'm sure the results, etc will be up at the Southern Oregon Dragstrip website but Rich mentioned today's winners were: Mike Barty on Super Pro (Bill Heard runner-up), Bill Baker won in Pro, while Sportsman was claimed by Robert Classen and Scott Pollechek took the Motorcycle win.

Thank you both very much for the reports! Come back tomorrow as Chad is sending in a few pics from Ashcroft.LP

WEST COAST PRO MODIFIEDS THUNDER AT 24TH FOX HUNT

The opening day of the 24th Annual Roundtree Chevrolet Fox Hunt at Firebird Raceway in Boise Idaho watched Californian Kirk Kuhns tear off a sizzlin 6.69 at 209.88 under the lights in front of a near capacity crowd at Firebird to claim the #1 spot in Pro Mod qualifying after two runs on Saturday Night.

Presented by Stinker Stations and Cactus Petes, the Fox Hunt started off under partly cloudy skies, which took a turn for the worse Saturday afternoon. Rain showers delayed racing for better than an hour and a half during five different cloud bursts, including one blast that stopped racing for about 50 minutes. A little moisture didn't stop the Blown and Nitrous fraternity from putting on a dynamite show as an even dozen cars lined-up for two shots at qualifying (with the final heat set for 2:30 pm on Sunday and eliminations to begin at 6:45 pm). Under very humid, low pressure and cloudy conditions (temp-78) and the altitude corrected to around 5,000 ft, the first pair right out of the box put down two outstanding runs. Danny Rowe drilled the best 60 ft of qualifying at 1.02 and stormed to a 6.79-205.24 along side the Corvette of Kirk Kuhns who took the early pole at 6.78-208.23 in a dog fight between the two most recent finalists in Tucson at the Pro Mod Opener a few weeks ago.

Richard Cross then carded a stout 6.84-207.51 against Glen Kerunsky, who was off the mark at 7.03-190.88. Canadian Trevor Lowe then blasted out a straight-as-an-arrow 6.86-207.85 beside a crossed up Andy Neyer who ran 7.55-199.60. The race of the round followed as John Scialpi and Pat Stoken duked it out. In a super close match, the nitrous lovers watched the Montana logger rip off low e.t. of session at 6.74-204.17 right beside Mr. " Wappado" who ran 6.76-205.24. Local Street Machine racer Paul Brown and Vern Mills 55 Chevy had problems on their first run at both cars ran 8.96 and 14.95, respectively as Mills went right towards the retaining wall at the strike of the throttle. In the final pair, reigning Nightfire champ Wayne Torkelson Jr. and Dennis Radford endured similar problems. Torkelson, who ran the World Ford Nationals in St. Louis last weekend (carding a couple of 6.4s) could only muster a 8.11, while Radford likewise got crossed up at the 150 ftmark and slowed to a 7.94. Session number two rolled into the lanes at 10:01 pm.

All twelve cars returned with the bump at 7.55. In the first pair, Torkelson, who was running last year's motor combination (since they cracked their good heads at Gateway) still encountered troubles in his first pairing with Andy Neyer. Torkelson ran 7.65 compared to the Corvette's 7.48, both not qualified with one session to go. In the second pair Kirk Kuhns really served notice to the rest of the class. Straight down the groove, Kuhns tore off the aforementioned 6.69-209.88 (a rather soft 1.09 60 ft, 4.37-168.98 660 ft) to take the pole after two heats. Dennis Radford ran 7.94 with more troubles and some oil at the very top end of the track with his new 706 inched nitrous-fed Chrysler powerplant. Calgary's Glen Kerunsky stepped right up to the plate with his S-10 Pickup recording a fine 6.75-200.57, while Richard Cross had difficulties in his lane. Up next, it was Danny Rowe and Vern Mills, who was returning to Firebird with his zoomy '55 Chevy.

Many thought, if anyone was going to knock off Kuhns off it would be Rowe who owns the track record at 6.52-212 (set in near perfect atmospheric conditions at Nightfire `99). As both were pulling to the starting lines, Rowe's '37 Chevy went silent following his strong burnout (shutting off by itself on the line) and Mills cruised to an impressive 6.90-199.68 to grab the eighth spot in an all 6-second field. To say Rowe was dejected would be an understatement, as he actually hoped to run at the end of the session after a quick fix, but officials waved off the opportunity considering his spot in the qualifying order had passed. Pat Stoken and John Scialpi put on another clinic in the next pair as two more impressive runs were laid down by two of the leading bow-tie teams. Scialpi carded a quicker (by .013) 6.75-205.94 to move into the number 2 spot behind Kuhns alongside of Stoken's 6.81-206.81. In the final pair Trevor Lowe nailed his second 6.86-203.89, while local racer Brown could only muster a ftnumbers by the majority of the top qualifiers.

No word from Ashcroft, or Medford.

05.26.00 I heard from Scott New at Firebird and they have some very interesting ideas for running the Pro Mods. We will pass along any info we get regarding their unique plans as we get them...Meanwhile down in Medford Oregon, track manager Wayne Seldon is gearing up for this weekend's big race number two of the new NHRA Northwest E.T Circuit of Champions, be sure to check out the Southern Oregon Dragstrip website as Don Ewald continues to maintain a great site complete with recent results and fotos. Meanwhile up here in beautiful (wet) BC, the Eagle Motorplex is ready for a big weekend of their own featuring Super Gas and Super Street Assc races along with a CPSA show and the Super Shifters all in addition to the regular bracket show. Unfortunately the weather report is not great, and after a low turnout at Eagle a cpl of weeks ago, they could use a good number of racers on hand. The possibility of a rainout and other reasons mean that I will not be there. Among other things I only had a very few people decide they would like videos at this race. While I would LOVE to try and support the Plex by being there, my bottom line simply does not allow it.

My work on racer videos continues to take up the majority of my waking hours, but I'll pass along any info that come my way as I can...such as this for instance:

Question of the week: My brother lives in Vernon, and every time I'm up there, I keep hearing vague rumors about a new track being built in the Mabel Lake area. Anyone know anything concrete one way or the other?

Larry- Just checkin in to say hi and answer your question of the week.
The track that was to be out at the Mabel Lake area is not going to happen and it was a roundy round anyway. The track they are building is on highway 97 towards just past O'Keefe Ranch on the way to Kamloops and it too is a roundy round. Sure would be a sweet spot for a straight liner though. The track is a 3/8 mile (I think) paved oval and is scheduled to be open this summer. Maybe see you at the plex this weekend Larry.

05.25.00 Hi Larry. I went to St. Joseph's hospital in Bellingham today to visit our buddy Jim Sibley. As soon as I surprised Sib with my arrival he told me about Dave Boyd. Dave drove himself to hospital today after complaining of pain in his arm, which had been bothering him for a couple days. Early this morning he admitted himself and then had a heart attack while in hospital, his heart stopped a few times, the doctors brought him back to life. They immediately took him into surgery and performed angioplasti ?spelling? which cleared his blocked artery. He is now recovering in intensive care and at last word, around 2:00pm, he will be ok! That is great news! I saw his wife Julie at the hospital, she is holding up great through all this. I asked Julie if it was all right to tell you this to put on HH, she said great, do it! I don't know their email or address, or where to send cards, but I do have the hospital address.....St. Joseph's Hospital 2901 Squalicum Parkway, Bellingham, Wa (no Zip.) Sibley is doing great considering his condition, he has walked around the halls on crutches and can't wait to get home. Sib has a long haul of therapy ahead of him! He is out of hospital tomorrow (Friday)! I will let you know if I hear any new news.

Many thanks to Vicki for sending this in, it's about as 'official' as you can get for both of these guys. It's when unfortunate stuff like this comes down, we see how well drag racing people can come together. It really is like a family. And with people in our family like Elvon Kaufman, Darlene Evans, and Vicki Strell who all whave such total dedication, it makes the Div. 6 part of this family the best there is.

Hey, in case you dudes didn't realize it, this Saturday marks day 1 of the West Coast Pro Mod INVASION 2000 Tour (my name, not theirs). That's right, all the big west coast doorslingers will be at Firebird THIS weekend, for the only one left in the NW...a Fox Hunt! Few know Lowe 'eased' his way to a best ever 6.43 219.19! on Saturday, April 22 at MRP (actually his best ever combo of et and speed, he has gone faster...a bit, but never quicker.) Have not heard if Glen May is going, but Kuhns, Torkelson, and everybody else will be! The WCPMA show at the Nightfires in '99 was the greatest door car race the division has ever seen. This weekend could match it or even top it.

THEN

Just one week later...they come to Mission. There may not be as many cars as at Firebird, but you can be about 90% sure there will be a record set. I don't know what the track record is for these guys, but whatever it is, be prepared for it to be not just broken...but possibly destroyed!. so if you're ANYWHERE near Boise this weekend or Mission next (June 3/4) you know where the best door car races on the left coast in 2000 are there...until later in the summer when they come back to BOTH!

ok, i feel a bit better now

8:30pm The bad news keeps on coming with word that Bellingham, Wa. motorcycle racer Dave Boyd had a heart attack today. I understand he drove himself to the hospital where he is tonite. More when I get it. LP

05.24.00 "I was the first guy to complain they shouldn't be with the bikes and I'm the first guy to get run over by one" -Jim Sibley on snowmobiles...With lines like that it's obvious he's back to normal. Unfortunately his knee won't be for months, as yesterday he underwent a few hours of surgery. Due to be released Friday, you can send him a get well message via Vicki Strell at STRELLRACING@telus.net

Congratulations to Jay in the MOPAC twin turbo Nova whom I hear ran a 7.65 in a private test session this past Monday at Mission.

11:30am In an effort to keep you up with what is happening on the web video front, I urge you to check out this link regarding the newest development in the Real camp. Until I view it on my own computer, I will take a "I'll believe it when I see it attitude". If true however, full screen, VHS tape quality video for high-speed equipped systems is nearly a reality. You forward thinkers can see where this is going eh? HH will most certainly implement this technology as soon as it is widely available and mostly bug free. New releases usually take a few weeks to get to that state, so give me some time on this. In regards to Microsoft's similar efforts, I figure that will be bug free sometime after the third generation Real software is a year or two old...

A great job by Billy Evans on the all new PACIFIC NORTHWEST SUPERCOMP ASSOCIATION site now up HERE.

I have recieved good response on the Edmonton trip and how I can afford to go there...Ashcroft this weekend on the other hand...nothing.

Speaking of Ashcroft we understand our friends Mahesh and Linda at the Cache Creek Motor Inn (toll free 1-800-694-8819) still have a few rooms this weekend. They are almost full for the Loafers Oldtime weekend June 9/10/11, but check anyway just in case. Please make sure you tell them where you heard this as they are the biggest Ashcroft supporters HH has in that area. LP

05.23.00 8:30am It's a definite that Mr. Sibley is nowhere near as 'perfect' as we all knew he once was. I understand his knee is in rough shape and he is currently in a Bellingham hospital. I will attempt to contact him by phone today and pass along further info, but if you know the old fart, you'll understand if he's a little...uh testy.

As I continue to produce customer videos, the updates here continue at a snail's pace, but fear not as there is lots of fun local stuff online to read if you haven't already. Simply goto the links (below left) for Grapevine and Bob Wilson's 'new' page for all kinds of interesting info.

It's looking as if I 'might' go to Ashcroft this weekend for the big Canadian Pro Street/ Super Street/Bracket bash. The weather is looking ok, and if everyone shows it will be a great race. Glen Braid will be there for the first time since his Top Comp win last Fall. I also understand Roy Moznik may be on hand with his all new former Bigfoot Pro Street 55 Chevy. The HUGE horsepower car will certainly be a contender in the 'baddest' street car wars, though as this would be first time out, expect 'anything'. Ad to that a bunch of the other Vancouver street cars along with a few from the interior we seldom see and, like I say, this could be a killer weekend of drag racing at 'da Plex'.

Speaking of bad azz street cars, congratulations to Del Sangha on breaking into the eight second zone this past weekend at MRP. The little 5oh Stang went 8.98/151 (I think) on slicks.

Attention Alberta Racers: I am on tap to 'possibly' be at the NHRA National Open in Edmonton June 10/11. It will be the first ever Alberta appearance of Glen Braid's Mighty Mouse Canso and he has graciously offered me both transportation and accommodation. What I need to confirm this trip is a dozen or so Alberta types to have me video their cars for the weekend. I don't know what it is, but past experience has proven to me that only a very few Alberta racers have ever shown interest in what I do, so I would love to be able make this trip one that would get me out there more often in the future.

I still have much to do with the Mission FM videos, so I must get to those, but in the meantime here's a few links people have sent in for you to check out, along with a bit o info and questions some of you may be able to answer:

Hey every one. Just a short note to tell every one that we have finally finished our 7 month long project. So many people were involved in this project, that it would take an extra email just to name them all. Our sincere thanks goes out to all of them. As the new funny car got closer and closer to being finished, it seemed to take longer and longer the get things done, but yesterday we fired the car car the first time, and made two runs at Edmonton's Budweiser Motorsports Park, to shake her out. Did I mention how grateful we were to everyone involved? Man am I pleased! Even our wonderful home track went over board for us. Tell me how many times you have heard of a race track staying open one hour after the regular race was over, holding all of the staff and ambulance, so that two funny cars could make a second pass! The race ended at 4.00, but because our first run didn't come until 3:45, they held her open for us. Unbelievable! Our new Ken Sitko built Artic Chassis funny car is a '57 Chev, but she drives like a Caddy. Our first run, was pretty bad, major driver errors. All of the controls in the new car are different, notably the brake, which in the old car was a foot brake, and is now a hand brake. I was kind of freaked when I reached my foot out to stop after the first burnout, and found no brake pedal. I reached for it several time backing up, staging and shutting down in the top end too. I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks very easily. The enclosed body thing took a bit of getting used to as well. A dragster friend of mine calls funnys rolling coffins, and I was thinking about that as they lowered the body for the first time. My dad, who rushed home from a family function in Calgary, did his usual incredible job on the motor, and she fired right up the first time, with that beautiful sounding loap that only an alky motor can make. He had the car set up really fat and lazy, and after an on again- off again mild pass, we knew the new girl was ready for a full pass. Darrell Webb, also of Edmonton, was testing as well, and at 4:45, ran a 8.04 @ 176 mph run. We were next at 4:50. After a nice burn out, (which I actually found the brake), we backed up and staged. We left off idle, and went straight as an arrow to a 8.06 @ 172mph run. Considering the car has a pully the size of a bike wheel on the blower, and was so fat that the thing looked like it had a P.S.I. on it when it was staging, and the fact the the dumb driver forgot to shift when the light came on, we are really pleased. It is notable that under these conditions, our old car would have been like a wild bucking bronco. Not this new car. Ken Sitko should think about building more of these things. Also notable are our new dual top fuel style chutes, that just about flung me out the windshield when they hit. Over kill for sure, but reassuring none the less. One thing I really don't miss about the altered, is the oil bath I would have taken with the leaks that we had. Stayed nice and comfy in the coffin. In closing, I would like to thank everyone involved in this build up AGAIN. I am so proud of the work that every one put into the car, and would hope that they in turn will be proud of what they have helped to create. I will post pictures as soon as I get them! _later-Jay Jay Mageau, Mageau Family Racing 1957 chev Pro Alcohol Funny Car Edmonton, Alberta, Canada CHECK OUT THE MAGEAU FAMILY RACING WEB PAGE ON THE LINK BELOW................... http://msnhomepages.talkcity.com/RallyRd/girltroubleracing/

While at Powerama in Edmonton April 30, we met an old guy with a beutifull '57 Bel Air, with fender skirts. It looked pretty close to the color on our car. After the show, while we were cleaning up, he drove over and parked right beside us. Amazing how close the colors are. Made for an interesting photo.

Question of the week: My brother lives in Vernon, and every time I'm up there, I keep hearing vague rumors about a new track being built in the Mabel Lake area. Anyone know anything concrete one way or the other?

Hey Larry could you please put the North Central schedule up on your site.....much appreciated, see you in Mission.  http://www.fnamerica.com/ncmp/schedule.htm

05.20.00 UPDATE: 5:40 Jim Sibley is back from the hospital with his leg in a wrap, so it appears nothing is broken. He must be ok, as he is cruising the pits in a golf cart in search of frosty brown liquid...Race report is that they got thru a couple of rounds amid a few rain delays until the wet stuff struck for good about 4pm., so better luck tomorrow. No, I won't be there... Besides the report is for more rain...

5:30pm. Word from MRP is that Jim Sibley suffered a possible broken leg as the result of a staging lane accident today. Reports are that a snowmobile was firing up behind him and somehow went out of control crashing into his stationary motorcycle. More when I get it.

05.19.00 8:30pm. More bad news as I sit here just completed logging all the video tapes from past two races. No way I'll make it out to MRP this weekend as how can I go out and do more as I'm two races behind on deliveries? Too bad, as I probably won't see most of my customers for about a month due to the schedule. Sorry folks I busted my ass, but fell short...again.

7:00 am A sad message to pass along this morning as we learn of the passing of Northwest drag racing legend Sam Fitz at 4:10 pm May 17 in Bremerton. Sam suffered from a rare form of nerve and muscle deterioration. He was a member of the Peterson and Fitz Top Fuel team of Bremerton, a good friend to many and in the words of Wayne King "A hell of a good cook". Our thoughts are with family and friends, especially Herm Peterson. Services will be held in Silverdale, Wa. Saturday May 20 at 1:00 pm at the Silverdale Lutheran Church.

05.17.00 7:00 pm Well I suppose it's time for me to check in again and explain the lack of updates. Since the last one, a major client came 'back' out of the woodwork with what was promised to be a one day job. Four days later it was done after dealing with people from here to Chicago. Man, it's amazing how simple stuff can be made so complicated...That takes us to about Friday when I simply burned out and took two days off. Didn't even turn the computer on for 48 hours, then when I did on Monday it crashed so I decided to finally bite the bullet, buy a new operating system and perform all the wonderfully fun things that kind of operation takes. So yesterday I'm up and running ready to get back into it, and I am in full video mode. Which is where I am now (and will be for awhile)...finishing off the last minute Boise video orders (even though two more have come in since) and ready to get into the Mission stuff. This between the foto requests, 'other' video orders, etc. For the past 48 hours I have actually been getting things done without a single system failure (Oh man I don't like to say things like that...).

I'm way behind on EVERYTHING, but know that if I can get a full week in with nothing screwing up (and no more "I need it yesterday" new requests for stuff) I should be ok. You are all waiting for the MRP FM 'hilight' video, as well as (dare I even mention it) HH99, and your personal vid stuff. That means few updates here, but unfortunately posting your great emails and contributions doesn't pay my bills, though I will make the attempt to do that stuff asap.

Speaking of videos, a number of you have mentioned that setting up your browser to stream the RealVideo files is not working for you. If so, please go to this page for that info. (and remember this is for the FREE 'basic' version of RealPlayer NOT the $29.95 version) I had to myself today to figure out Explorer 5 (GAWD, Pfister's actually got a Microsoft product on his Mac!!), then I read of a major security bug and I'm back to Communicator 4.7.3.

It'll all work out very soon, so for the 457th time; "please bear with me for a few more days". LP

05.11.00 11:00 am An important posting regarding Top Comp at the Alberta National Opens is now posted on our Div 6 page. LP

05.09.00 11:30 Amazing. You people just continue to amaze me. In just over two hours the hi-speed video page from the Mission FM is the third most hit page on the site, just short of the low-speed version. We are currently averaging over 1000 hits per hour with a max of 3300! I guess this video stuff is kinda popular...

Just curious, but I got a report from one racer who said a few people are wondering if the left lane at MRP gave out a few 'weird' numbers this weekend. If anyone else has noticed this, I would like to hear about it. LP

9:00am Mission Federal Mogul Finals HIGH SPEED video is now posted HERE.

05.08.00 9:00pm Mission Federal Mogul Finals video is now posted HERE.

6:00pm The video capture from the Mission FMDRS is nearly complete, so hope to have both 56k and hi-speed versions up later this evening.

05.07.00 10:00pm I have been rather overwhelmed with email 'inquiring' (One guy SCREAMED "The world wants to know") about Joe(s) Aluise. All I know is that he/they didn't get the record and if you hear anything from this, it will officially come from NHRA. As I learned of it after the Metro rig had left the property, I have nothing else to go on. So don't ask me, as I don't know. GOTO our event homepage for our exclusive Joe Aluise Sr. RealVideo interview from earlier this past weekend.

On a personal note, I got to know these guys a bit this weekend and I quickly came to like 'em, and I'm sad that it didn't work out. I spent a few minutes in their trailer going over that 10.01 run again and again. I was surrounded by a bunch of people I had never met before who were just so damn happy. That's what I'll remember about Joe, Joe and the other guys from this weekend.

Ya, so it was announced on the PA today. www.nhradiv6.com is actually up. Has been for weeks and nobody found it. You guyz are weak. Then again we can't talk as it hasn't been updated in weeks either. New project number four.

There were some awfully cool records set here however.

The ageless Jimmy Warter setting yet another Super Modified mark, this time a B at 8.771/153.79. Then we saw the little 2000cc Veedub G/Dragster level hammered again by Hyerstay to 9.723/137.23. Include as well number one qualifier and event runner-up and the tiny machine from Eugene once again proves itself...he missed the stated goal of the first 11 second C/TSA pickup, but Bruce Flodin settled for a 12.023...Transplanted Californian, now living in that Mecca of the Competition Eliminator dragster- Eugene, Oregon, Craig Schuck claims Div. 7. His wicked C/ED flew to a new mark of 7.376/182.14...and the absolutely gorgeous '95 Firebird (& my pick as one of the finest looking Trans Am door cars ever) of Acton California's Phil Cocuzza. He captured the impressive B/EA mark with a 7.874/170.16...

HH will be bringing you RealVideo of all these records later in the week, so make sure you check back here often.

Sponsor wanted for RealVideo 'Records'. You could have the rest of the year with your name on every RealVideo 'record' run segment we stream.
You'll have the only one period.

Everybody will be coming here very soon. Just like you did.

MRP notes: World champ trailered in round one. "Ya, it's been doing that most of the time lately" said Don Little, who would do just another ridiculous huge powerstand out past the tree in the opening stanza. Video avail if ya want it...Now hum the Twilight Zone song and read on. Steve Wong reminds us of some Super Gas voodoo:

BOISE: Best appearing Car-a '63 Corvette. Winner-that '63 Corvette. Was the cars first race.

MISSION: ditto

9:00pm 'Official' results from the Mission FM are HERE. As I am working off of two computers here, excuse any duplication or other junk...Saturday was a long, drawn-out day that burned me up, so I got out to the track bright and chipper before 7am ready to rock...THUD the sound of my enthusiasm hitting rock bottom as the ISP I was 'borrowing' refused to hold a line so we could not update. We are now home in familiar surroundings and ready to sit up for a few hours and get you guys the scoop on what happened at MRP today. Stay tuned as there will be 'something' cool here in a couple of hours...LP

05.05.00 6:00pm The rains finally came to Mission Raceway Park approx. 4pm today ending a short day of drag racing. Please goto our event homepage HERE for links to another RealVideo file and use the links atop the page for all the results.

8:15am Online. Mission Raceway Park. It's raining, but hey, we're hooked up. Updates to follow.

6:15am Well, four hours ago I was doing the last update, so all you cable and DSL people click here for the hi-speed, hi-quality version of our Thursday report, or click above for the Mission FM homepage. The weather has taken a bit of a turn for the better, so keep your fingers crossed. Hopefully we'll have a chance to update during the day, but with so many video customers we're not sure if that will happen. If not, be back late tonight as we continue in the attempt to 'webcast' a major drag race like no other site in history has ever done.

Done deal. CLICK HERE FOR MRP VIDEO Friday May5, 2000 See ya tomorrow with more!

05.04.00Another 'First' for HH...well almost It's 11:50pm May 4th 2000. Our same day RealVideo coverage of today's happenings at Mission will miss our coveted 'same day' goal. For Media Cleaner EZ 4.0.2 to compress our video will take another 19 minutes. Then we can upload it. Neat eh? It's in small form so everyone should be able to see it. We'll be off to bed and see if it'll chug along for an hour or so for the hi-rez version then upload it in the morning.

So here it comes. Aluise Sr. on going for the NINES...the non-record a few weeks ago...and more in an exclusive Horsepower Heaven interview. Glen Braid. We see his amazing new rig. Hear about changes to the car in 2000...and all da BOYZ be in thu town...it's drag racing like the Internet was born for...NOWHERE else...nowhere but heaven...horsepower heaven LP

05.03.00 FLASH MRP BREAKING NEWS Got a call tonite from Ron Houneit who said he and another Harley fueler will be out there this weekend. Houneit wants so much to run on a track this good. When the D6 Cert Crew is in town together with George and his team at MRP magic often happens. They left him in the lanes at the '99 rain race. Now he gets to come back. We could well see one of THE baddest drag bike passes ever...the potential is definitely there.

Orders for Mission videos are pouring in. I don't want to say I'm full but...

Weather reports are still rather strange. Be prepared for sun, clouds, rain, showers, hail and anything else Mother Nature can throw at us (on an hourly basis). Hopefully it'll get done, but I fear long delays could play havoc with our planned updates, but with the hopes of on-site web access we may be ok.

Good looking ads in the local paper feature Pat Austin, and look for surprise entrant Joe Aluise of Laurel Maryland who was seen passing through the border at mid day.

Our friend Bob Wilson is planning some major reporting this weekend. Check out his stuff HERE.

05.02.00 If you haven't let me know you want a video from this weekend's FM at Mission, please do it now. If you are a member of the Super Comp Assc. or the Super Street Assc. Also be aware that I have entered into agreements with each group to give you a discount. I will not have the details to your reps (The Peck family & Craig Bickle or Rick Stewart) until Thursday. If interested please sign up with those people and I will be able to start on you in the first session. You should recieve a video order form when you enter the track which will include all details.

For this event I will be based out of Glen Braid's trailer which I understand will be just to the tower side of the pit food trailer. There will be a number of exciting happenings this weekend as we welcome a number of out-of-town guests. More on that later.

Depending on how late the race goes, we will be attempting to get same day video up each day. If we have delays and end up getting out of the place too late, it may not happen, as we are still in test mode with this. The current weather report does not look all that good at this point, in fact it appears very similar to the pattern we suffered through last year, as it changes at will.

Regardless, our homepage for the event is now posted HERE. It includes the schedule.

Thanks to Stu Wotypka of Intelligent Development for this 'sneak peek' rendering of Dave Brown's FMD.

It looks as if the new drag school is up and running.
