LOTSA cool Fotos tomorrow.Watch for the Test&Tune Specials! No I will not be at the track. Cars you WON'T see ...till next weekend: Those darn Pecks. Is it pink or is it purple? You decide...It was a show of speed in Junior from the FAR cars with Brandon Yoder's semifinal 71.11mph single a shade behind Corey's 71.86 win in round one. Number one qualifier in T/C was Richard Vaughn who ran high fifties thru to the semis against Seekins...who had an AWESOME final beside Barling. Howard Johnson made sure he thanked his wife when he picked up the BIG Super Comp cash today..Don't know if anybody got the big Moss wheelie in S/G this morning....Edmonton's Eddie Plazier was here alone and took the T/C digger one round his (sans wheelie bars!) Anglia to a semi final finish in S/G....Sharkman has gone to the semis the last three S/G races here. "We just freshened it up over the Winter" he told us...The two old cars in the S/ST final was very cool...a great debut for the new NORTHWEST STOCK SUPER STOCK ASSOCIATION...no I hadn't heard about it either, but it's here and with acting president Rick Johnstone smiling as McKinney took bragging rights forever as the first group winner... These guys have some cool stickers and shirts too. I don't have an e-mail for anybody in it...sorry. Get this too, one of their sponsors is John Heida's all new Dyno Room over in Richmond. He's handing out sessions on what is the slickest dyno setup we've yet seen in a local shop. But of course I've lost his e-mail address...help Johnny... Heard there were SIX nitro hogs here to test Friday.
How about that Densham kid eh? Now you know what Force was doing...a genius move.
The hoopla surrounding next weekend's Federal Mogul at MRP revolves around rumor of which Stockers and SSs will be here to put some numbers "on the board"... The Federal Mogul cars will be amazing here as many of the best cars on the planet will be on hand: Hentges, Santos, Bernstein, Hough, Henkelman (hopefully), not to mention the new chargers from Edgecomb and Lawrence. The Austin WAR is at its all-time height! Bucky will storm into this place, but you KNOW Pat LOVES MRP!....oh ya....This will be one of the best FMD races of the year.
I learned today from MRP Race Director Wally Duperon that an open test session will begin this Thursday at noon. call the track for more details (604) 826-6315.
Congratulations to Glenn Miller (quarter finals!!) ) on his first official Super Comp outing in the new SuperWebHost.com dragster!
Because of the news regarding our DD, I am now considering leaving this site up in a very basic form until things are sorted out. Lord knows we will need some communication through the transition and unless there's a better venue, I will make HH available. I will discuss this with the powers-that-be and if it will help I will put off the complete and total shutdown for a couple of months unless something else comes my way...ie: a JOB.
MAJOR BREAKING NEWS HH exclusive:
LVMS TAPS BLAIR TO HEAD DRAG RACING AND DIRT TRACK PROGRAMS
LAS VEGAS, April 25 Chris Blair will join the staff of Las Vegas Motor Speedway as Director of Drag Racing and Dirt Racing operations, LVMS Executive Vice President and General Manager Chris Powell announced Wednesday. Blair has spent the past four years as the director of the Northwest Division for the National Hot Rod Association.
Blair, 31, a 1993 graduate of the University of Kentucky, will begin his new duties in July.
"Chris brings a wealth of promotional and operational experience to Las Vegas Motor Speedway," Powell said. "His presence will help us expand our drag racing and dirt racing programs to new levels." Blair has been responsible for the sanctioning of 19 NHRA tracks in four western states and three Canadian provinces. The Kentucky native came to NHRA after a stint as director of business development for Chicago-based Pace Motorsports (now SFX Motorsports). While at Pace, Blair was involved in the production and expansion of AMA Supercross, USHRA Monster truck and stadium off-road events. Blair began his motorsport career promoting sprint car and late model dirt races at a variety of facilities in the Southeast.
"My goal when I began my motorsports career was to be involved with a multipurpose motorsports and entertainment venue." Blair said. "To have this opportunity at the greatest racing facility ever built is beyond my wildest dreams. Both the dirt track and The Strip host premiere motorsports events. Our focus will be on developing other major events for these venues and making our existing programs more exciting for participants, spectators and sponsors."
Obviously everyone and their dog from Edmonton to Medford will be now asking "who will the new DD be". Let's just be calm, as this is only April. HH will make an attempt to contact Blair asap so we can interview him and get some personal thoughts. Let me be the first to wish my friend all the best in his new position and thank him not only for his work as DD, but his considerable support of this website. LP
My goodness, the online drag racing forum wars have gotten completely, and totally out-of-hand!! I have a call in to see if HH can sort out some of this, but once again it has been proven beyond a doubt that any venue that allows someone to post a message (moderated or not) without having to identify themselves is doomed to complete and utter failure. That situation simply gives all the drunks, stoners and assholes sitting in front of their screens in the middle of the night the opportunity to go absolutely gaga. It has nearly destroyed the best drag forum and is rapidly doing the same thing to the others. Even the most demented among us get tired of this 'entertainment' soon or later. It's unfortunate that so few of us learn from our mistakes and have the balls to make sure it doesn't happen twice. It's also a shame when the only way some 'professionals' can create a popular website is through a gonzo forum. When creativity and talent take a back seat to rants and raves it's a sad day for the sport. Now...about the new HH Jackass section...what can YOU do stupid in a race car on film...only kidding. LP
Larry, You mentioned another accident at a Division 6 track. I
do not have
many details, but I did visit with the parents of Don Wood at OHSU Hospital
today. He was taken there (Portland, OR) on Saturday, April 21 after a
mishap while testing at Woodburn Dragstrip. He is currently in a medically
induced coma while the body heals. Some of his injuries include broken ribs,
a collapsed lung (which by Tuesday has been corrected), and perhaps swelling
and/or slight bleeding at the base of the brain. Regarding the accident, I
did not witness it, but I was told that his black ' 34 Ford moved from the
right lane in an arching pattern across the left lane and contacted the left
wall at about a 75 degree angle. The car came to rest on its top.
Paramedics at Woodburn Dragstrip did an excellent job in his extracation and
immediate care. Unfortunately, Don has no medical insurance. Friends who
would like to donate toward his care may contact any branch of US National
Bank for an account in his name. Cards and letters can be sent to Don at the
following address: Don Wood; 6935 Lakeside Drive NE; Salem, OR 97305.
Interested parties may contact Elvon Kauffman further if they have questions.
His email address is :

It's been brought to my attention that Cole Coonce has (hopefully temporarily) shut down Header Flames to new postings. I'm getting to the point where it's scary to open my email....which reminds me, I'm sorry for not answering much of it. Just one of those things when times get tough.
Check out the Mission Raceway forum for some vital changes to the dragbike program this season. It's what all the bikers wanted to have happen. .4 pro tree and no sleds in the class. Can you believe it? Now we need the support.
There is also a posting at the MRP site regarding this weekend's Super Series event Friday T&T, last weekend's results and some other stuff.
Today was a rainout but on Friday and Saturday we managed to get
some
chassis tuning done with 60' launches and now have the tires both planting
and holding. Next time out we are going to use less launch rpm as we've seen
1.13s 60's with more tire spin than we'd like. We're pretty sure we'll get
under 1.10s under ideal conditions with fresh tires. We were also using C05
soft compound tires and will be trying D07 hard compound tires as we know
that we're hitting them with a lot of power and they may not be standing up
to it (something we saw with the high powered Chevelle on narrow tires). We
did run 2 full passes and saw a consistent 7.63s @ 182.7mph timeslip which
is up 6mph from the previous testing session so we know we are doing
something right. We also now have our data logger installed and we can see
what's happening with the engine, transmission and acceleration. There's
lots left in this combination - probably 7.40s with our automatic
transmission which means 6.90s with a manual trans (which is our ultimate
goal).

From Sunday: I am ok pretty stiff this morning .I am at a lose for words. I would like to thank all the Mission Raceway safety crew and every body who helped in this incident. Thanks - Peter Dalgleish Dalgleish Racing 6804 S/G
Yesterday at Mission the Maddaloni family's 'Flyin' Low' Falcon Super Shifter car made heavy contact with the left guardrail about half track. Word we have at this time is that the driver Danny is ok, and the car may be repairable.
Then today in a mid-afternoon Super Gas test session, Donny Krickimeyer's Vega wagon went out of control about half track, and from the right lane contacted the right rear quarter panel of Peter Dalgleish's Capri. The Ford flipped onto it's roof and skidded well past the finish line. Donnie's Vega made hard contact with the left guardrail that caused many (mostly fiberglass) pieces to go flying, including some pieces over the fence into the pit area. The best word we have at this time is Peter walked away, and Donnie was talking with emergency personnel as he was taken to the hospital. HH did not receive any reports of anyone injured by the flying debris.
We also learned of a possible "serious crash at another Div. 6 track". That's all we have at this time. If anyone can send us any further info please do.
CONGRATULATIONS to Team Airtime Aviation on their HUGE win in Gainsville today. That's one and counting for the Hentges crew!!!
From Lezlee... YIPPEEEEEE!!!!

Below are some neat links that just came in...can you say 'Rock International Raceway'....oohhhh.
Worst rumor of the day is that of FOX purchasing Speedvision then changing it to NASCARTV.

Mark Hentges: Federal-Mogul Dragster's Hottest Driver
Hi all, just dropping a line to let you know we have a major web update at www.awesomeburnouts.com
. We have two new members pages up and running, including the Montana Dodge
of Jamie and Lori Kemp, and the Joey's Place Racing, 1969 Corvette of
Joey Steckler.
The IBAA is gearing up for an exciting season of side by side funny car action,
and has at least 14 bookings for the upcoming 2001 race season. Our group of
7.50 funny cars, with the inclusion of Joey's new car, is taking on a decidedly
nostalgic flavor, with 6 of our cars older then 1970. The remainder of our 14
plus cars, are favorite body styles of the 70's, and 80's.
Drop by our site and check us out!

One of the things that will be talked about forever is that Firebird Raceway in Boise Idaho is an altitude factored drag strip, and how any records can be really recognized. Thanks to Scott New we have that answer. He has put together a few words regarding this and other 'moment's of this past weekend's Federal Mogul. It's one of the coolest pieces I have read in a very long time. Now sit back, take a moment and head over to Firebirdonline for a great read.
Have only done a bit of checking, but would kill for a video of anything from the super sessions early last Friday from Boise. Local shooter Chuck McDonald did not make it to the track until Saturday, so if anybody out there has video of the 'big' record runs, please send them in as we can convert to web-ready formats for the world to see....and if yur thinking this stuff is worth a fortune, it is to a few....a VERY few, and that does not include this website...sorry.
Over in ADRAville, most reports from the first race are...well...really good to ok. It seems from everything I have read everyone involved has a "if it ain't nitro, it ain't shit' position. Hey, don't get me wrong, I thrive on the stuff. Unfortunately sanctioning bodies do not.
Amid all the good must come some bad, but lately much of the news coming in here has been just flat ugly. From rule 'interpretations' to trailering incidents to on-track accidents, the past few weeks have not been kind to many, many local motorsport people. Sorry, but I really don't much feel like passing any of it on here. It won't do anyone any good. The people who should know about this stuff already do. Nothing can be done to change any of it, so that's all I have to say.
As we pass mid-month the coming demise of this site has not changed. A few things have come up to possibly assist, but nothing more than talk at this point. It still comes down to two things, either a major sponsorship (ala Summitracing.com) or a full/part time job for yours truly. I am thinking of leaving it up, just not updating it, but I have tried that in the past and the temptation of 'playing' with it always beats down my promise to do real work. That knowledge will force my hand to fold it.
I must say however, despite the recent lack of regular updates, our daily count has hardly gone down at all. You're as hooked as me on this huh...see whuuta mean?
Proving it's still the best motorsport site on the web, Speedvision.com/Racer Mag correspondent Jon Asher rips into the just released NHRA 50th anniversary publication HERE. While you are there check out all the other commentaries. Wonderful stuff.
The Mission webcam is proving to be a big hit, especially on those 'ify' cloudy days. Last Friday night the multi-camera system was a little slow mainly due to so many of us weenies who stayed home and watched it.
A big howdy to Jim Sibley, now home from his most recent hospital visit. The old fart was very lucky he landed on his head, as I doubt the hit was any harder than what he's received from track officials, other racers...and probably a woman or two, over his storied career. Only kidding Sibby!
For those wondering why the CMDRA changed it's September date from Mission to Ashcroft, repeat after me: three rainouts in the last three years.
Up at the ole' Plex in 'Croft, Plexatola Iatola Willie Kraus called to tell me of all the cool stuff now in place up the canyon. An updated sound system guaranteed to blow your ear drums out, along with an upcoming remote mic system (Webber's gonna love that), and the road in should be paved very, very soon.
And I just know all Northwest racers will get a lot out of THIS.
Finally, have a look at the new John Evans site. Sorta used it to test a few new things, and we'll have some more updates on his new cars as soon as we can. LP

FIREBIRD RACEWAY, BOISE, IDAHO
SUNDAY, APRIL 15, 2001
HENTGES AND AUSTIN TAKE WINS AT IGNITOR OPENER
BOISE, Idaho - Mark Hentges and Bucky Austin both took home their
third win of the season at this weekends 31st Annual Ignitor Opener
presented by Lithia Ford Chrysler and NAPA Auto Parts. Hentges took out
Greg Lawrence in the final round with a 5.522 second pass at 252.38 mph to
Lawrence's 5.601, 258.62. Hentges badly damaged a motor in Friday's
qualifying then came back to take the number one qualifying position and
the win.
"What a great Easter!" said Hentges after the win. "Boise
is good
to me. The semi-final against Mike (Johnson) and Brian (Hough) was a big
one this weekend. Those two are going to be around a lot this year."
This is Hentges sixth final round this year and his third win at
Firebird dating back to 1991 when in won in Super Comp.
In the upset of the day, and possibly the year, Gregg Lawrence
of
Salem, Ore. took out Federal-Mogul Dragster National Champion Rick Santos
in round one. Lawrence's .491 second reaction was the difference as his
5.480 second, 262.77 mph run took out Santos who ran quicker at 5.464,
259.29.
Austin took out veteran racer and team owner Larry Minor in the
final of Federal-Mogul Funny Car with a pass of 5.975 seconds, 240.25 mph
to Minor's 6.165 at 237.46 mph. The win should move Austin into the point's
lead for the national championship.
With back to back 5-second passes, Mac McCord had the fans on
their
feet as he took the overall win in the Nittro class beating out Ron Fassl
with a pass of 5.940 at 231.71 mph. Fassl, however, did not go away empty
handed, as he set a new track and personal record on Saturday with a run of
272.64 mph. The old AA Fuel Altered record, held by Fassl, was set in
August of last year.
Eighteen national records were set this weekend between
the Comp., Super
Stock, and Stock categories along with numerous track records. The most
notable record was in the Stock category when Robert Pond drove his '67
Fairlane to the first ever nine second run. NHRA times and records are
adjusted for the air and altitude and with Pond's run of 10.229 seconds,
Pond becomes the first driver to break the 10-second barrier in the A/Stock
category.
Moments after Pond's run, Joe Aluise Jr. ran a 10.266 in his
A/Stock Automatic '63 Belvedere. NHRA requires a driver to back up a run,
with a second run within one percent of the first. Aluise beat pond to the
"9-second" record by backing up his run first, hence, setting the
first
9-second NHRA National Record in Stock.
The following are and final results from the NHRA Federal-Mogul Drag

9:00 a.m. Happy Easter to all those on the charity cruise at the Old Car Centre in Langley, and drag racers in Boise and Fallon Nevada. Weather in all three sites is near perfect. Best place to get Boise results quickly is Summit Drag Race Central courtesy our old pal (and still the best guy in the biz) Mike Jex, as well as end-of-day reports from NHRA and the track site Firebirdonline.com.
The record assault at Firebird (including Hentges and Bucky's FM marks along with just the fastest run in AA/FA history from Fassl) are matched only by the carnage in Nevada. Although the ADRA site has a posting from yesterday, Header Flames is easily the best place to get the real scoop on this inaugural nostalgia event.
From the 'I told you so' dept. comes more word out of Boise of the simply unbelievable 'Day of Record's'. With a number of sites filling us in with all the details, it makes those of us not there weep into our morning cup of coffee. It all began at 9:50 a.m. when Robert Pond's Ford Eh Stocker became the first in the nines followed at 10:00 a.m. sharp by Joe Aluise in the EhAuto Mopar. About all that's left is to see who the first Chevy will be.
In an early morning call today from Rich Carlson he mentioned that since Aluise backed up the run later in the day (and possibly hurt the motor) and Pond has not yet, Joe is 'technically' the first in the nines. Oh, but doesn't this sport breed controversy! He did confirm that it's quite possible nearly all of the Eh and EhEh cars, including Ogborn, may be at Mission for the first race in a few weeks.
For more goto:
Out in the Fraser Valley last night they had to have set some kind of record for track drying as it took from about 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to get the water off the surface. After that almost everyone got one run. A big turnout of revelous spectators (who apparently love burnouts...in more ways than one) caused most to dream of sunny summer nights with no rain. Don Murray sends us these photos. One simply has to wonder if this many streeters come out on a rainy night in April, how it will effect the future of bracket racing at the facility...and how 'bout that webcam? Neat eh? While not perfect, it shows enough to at least give you an idea if it's too wet to go out there. Definately the shape of things to come.
Down in Fallon Nevada, decent news of the inaugural ADRA race is very hard to come by, but it appears the 32 car Top Fuel field will be more like 16. The debut of nitro nostalgia Funny Cars and Fuel Altereds have slim, although enthusiastic, fields. Hopefully we'll get more info today.

Ever wondered where NOT to eat while visiting MRP or on your way up to the Plex? Go HERE, click on restaurants, and have some fun reading about how your favorite eatery stacks up. Langley area is coming soon, while we always check out the Wednesday editions of the Las Vegas Review Journal for their weekly reports.
Mark down this day as one that will almost certainly go down in
drag racing history. Over in Boise Idaho, everyone is expecting the first nine
second pass by a Stock Eliminator automobile. A few months ago, I predicted
this would be the place and here we are just hours away from the first session.
With cool temperatures and the new surface, still not tested by Federal Mogul
cars, I predict either Joe Aluise or Robert Pond will do it first. Then, depending
on the air, the backup could come later today or in tomorrow's session. The
next question will be, since this is a factored, altitude track, will they come
to Mission to try and better it? That's getting a bit ahead of the game, but
here's a big HH 'good luck' to all the competitors out there for a quick, fast
and safe weekend of racing. Wish we were there! For more check out the Firebirdonline.com

A couple hundred miles to the south the ADRA prepares for their first event at Topgun Raceway in Fallon Nevada, a few miles south of Reno. The ADRA states they will have daily updates at there site http://www.adraracing.com. If you can believe the pre-race hype they are expecting 37 Top Fuelers to try and qualify for the 32 car field. If this actually happens, it will be shocking! About the only good thing about us being home is that we can regularly check on what happens here.
It must be a street legal day for Mission...as it's currently pouring outside this early morning. Latest reports say it should clear by race time. Heck...run 'em in the rain! They street race in it don't they?

I visited Sibley in the hospital today, for about four hours, and is doing some
better.
He had his lungs drained of fluid yesterday, and that has relieved the pain
to his broken ribs (two broken & two cracked). They did many tests on him
yesterday and today, and was about to go for a MRI (nothing found in other tests)
when I left this afternoon.
The whiplash he got, when hit by the snowmobile last year, is pinching a nerve
in his neck when he turns his head, which is causing his dizziness. They are
hoping the MRI will pinpoint the soft tissue which may be causing this. Jim
said he will call me tonight to let me know how it went, and hopefully what
they found.
All in all, he is still in pain but in good hands at St.Joseph's hospital in
Bellingham with wonderful medical staff, and they say he may be in there a few
more days.
Get Well Sib!!
HH can't say enuf for maybe the most mis-understood, hard-luck guy in the entire division. To know him is to love him, and I personally hope he's back on track as soon as possible.
There is also a MRP Newsletter update on the MRP site.
From the 'stuff that's come in' dept.-
Larry,
Just a short note to bring everyone up to date on Thunder Mountain Raceway in
Kelowna. It looks like the paving of another 200 feet of shut down area is going
to be going ahead as well as paving of the return road. We hope to have this
all done before the first race of the season. Also Jim Graham has been working
diligently on our new web page. It should be up and running in the next couple
of weeks. Address is www.thundermountainraceway.com
We invite everyone to check out the site as well as coming to Kelowna to check
out the new work that will be done at our track.
No traction on a cold track, but nothing broke, it went straight,
and we
came away knowing that when the weather improves, we'll be ready. 7.70s at
close to 180mph with the tires spinning most of the way, thru the mufflers.
Check out the photos and videos on the web site at www.bsdragracing.com
Our new , Mageau Family Racing's "Prospector" web page
is finally up and running. You can access it by clicking www.dragracing.ca.
I would like to here any comments you may have.
You will find all kinds of interesting features, a photo album, updated race
results for the team, links to all of our sponsors, live National racing news
and so on.
The kids even have a section near the end of the page. ( they have there own
guest book, so leave them a message if you like!)
The page is not done, and probably will never be, as we plan to update it frequently.
Be sure to check back often to find out what's happening with your favorite
'57 Chevy funny car!
Please update your bookmarks, as the old page will be closed soon.

Lemme know if I missed anything LP
While it may seem I have ended this prematurely, fear not. This is actually the first time I've been in front of the computer in quite a few days. I have actually been 'working'. Some of you may know my last employer was an environmental consulting firm. For much of the last week I've been in the bush getting rid of some winter fat with a few of my old friends...gawd, am I outta shape...tromping around a swamp assisting in some very trick one-of-a-kind 'watershed resources' work. It's actually pretty neat, as being a city boy, a few days away from everything is very good for me...not to mention the money is wonderful. What began as a one day outing last week has grown into more, as if it's offered I'll take it. I have one more day to go, then will get back and do some work here. Obviously this has put me back on other projects and will force me to miss Boise this coming weekend. I thank the few of of you who wanted me to do some stuff for you there, but I simply cannot screw around people who never got last year's stuff, who would see me there doing 'new' video for other people. I hope to have all that cleared up by the Mission FM in early May. LP
BREAKING NEWS - HH EXCLUSIVE: Our man at LVMS, Rich Carlson, this evening passed along news of Terry Sherrill crashing today during Super Stock class runoffs. Running in the left lane, the '57 Corvette got out of the groove and went left contacting the guardwall. In what was described as a 'sudden stop' kind of incident, the Klameth Falls Oregon driver suffered undetermined 'chest pains' and was said to have been transported to a local hospital. To the best of our knowledge his condition is not serious, and the vehicle, though damaged extensively, may not be a total loss. With little more to go on, we wish all the best to Terry and hope to have an update as soon as we are able.
It's been a couple of days since I decided to go in another direction, and despite some wonderful offers that have come to me, my decision to end HH3 at then end of this month still holds. While a number of potential advertisers have sent me e-mail, I have simply lost the drive it takes to produce a site like this. To quell any rumors, the main problem here is money. The site has not generated enough to allow me to expand it to the point where major advertisers (or multiple smaller ones) get a decent bang for their buck. It's a magic equation that every business person must deal with. Some make it, some don't. I'll never loose any sleep thinking that I didn't give it my all.
As for my video production plans, HH 2000 will be ready by the Mission Federal Mogul May 4. I know I can sell enough of those to get back into the black. Racer videos? I hope to be able to shoot some of you that weekend....beyond that I cannot say at this time. So if you do want video shot at that race please e-mail me now, as I can only fit in a few. The price is $50 (Canadian) per weekend, per vehicle. All payments in advance at the track Thursday or Friday.
Also, if I can secure ten racers (before next Monday) for the Boise FM next weekend I will attend. This event will be an absolute GIANT. The New Crew is pulling out all stops for what could well be a history-making drag race. Look for every A Stocker on the planet to be on hand at Firebird as the entire drag racing world awaits the first nine second stocker. Favorites going in include Joe Aluise (Mopar), Bobby DeArmond (Chevy) and the high-flying Fomoco of Robert Pond (The only stick car in this war). That first session Friday morning will be unbelievable in terms of anticipation. Go to Firebirdonline.com for more.
With the local weather looking very wet for the next few days, it appears at this time the much anticipated Street Legal race at Mission may not happen. Current five day forecast states that Sunday may be dry, but with the way weather can change around here these days, the best one can do is look out the window each morning.
A number of folks are yearning on how our local bikers did at last weekend's AHDRA race in Phoenix. Unfortunately the web coverage of this event was not the best...especially when today we learned that Jim Gauthier (of Alien fame) emerged runner-up in Top Fuel! The Contractor racing Team (on a former Ron Houneit machine) marched through the stout field on their way to a very close final round. For complete results go HERE. Yes Jim's last name is spelled wrong (Goshay), but you can figure it out.
In a Saturday morning incident, Ron Houneit's new bike suffered a major engine explosion. Just past the tree, the Fast Lane Fueler experienced a situation that resulted in a big engine explosion. Houneit was unhurt, but the frame was heavily damaged. "It spun the tire, and I'm not sure, but I think it grabbed again, then hydrauliced" said a stoic Houneit in a telephone interview today with HH. "Ya, it was a big boom, but the safety equipment I have is the best, and this proved it." Ron had a new Ballistic Bike Wear restraint system on the bike that held the carnage to a minimum. "Thanks to the design of the PRP engine the force was released in a sideways motion. The heads and block are fine, we'll only have to replace the rods, cylinders and a couple of valves." Houneit had nothing but good things to say about the BBW system. "They went above and beyond what SFI requires for this stuff" he told us. He also mentioned that they have offered to update their equipment to the new specs at no charge (but for shipping). As a dealer, Ron had said he had told his customers this, but few had taken advantage of it. "I think they will now". We are all very relieved to hear Ron is fine, and hopes to be back as soon as the team can. The frame is down at Weekend Frame in California for repair. HH will keep you posted as long as we can.
A very nice email from Joe Delehay has been among our recent arrivals. Now living in Calgary, he says watch out boyz....for a June return to MRP of the his Pro Mod truck!

PRESS RELEASE....FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CADILLAC ART AT CHEVROLET PRICES!
Artist 12 Midnite presents the amazing $49.99 Art Sale
April, 05, 2001
Hot rod artist, graffiti pioneer, and low brow legend,12 MIDNITE opens up his
east end hot rod shop/studio for a three hour glimpse into his nightmarish realm
April 28 from 3-6pm..... to bring you an amazing $49.99 art sale.
One of the west coasts most visible art personalities, Vancouver artist/musician
12 Midnite has evolved into a strange mixture of James Dean and Andy Warhol,
leading a shadowy double existence. Wearing his hot rod lifestyle like a badge,
he juggles time spent cruising in any one of a small fleet of ground- scraping
custom cars with turning out the cartoon inspired paintings that he is famous
for, emerging from his Clark drive lair to help lead the current pop art\ low
brow revolution that has got collectors from far and wide scrambling.
At the same time, over the past decade, while helping create the current trend,
he has built a reputation as the premiere hot rod flame painter among the new
breed of style-savvy hot rodders.
Wisely, before completely succumbing to the debilitating effects of toxic automotive
paints, 12 Midnite decided to pare back his vehicular output, turning away all
but a very few vehicles that had awaited his master touch with the spray gun.
Instead of flaming hot rods, 12 Midnite has spent the winter months producing
a prodigious series of smallish pop paintings designed to sell at this one time
only price of $49.99. These pieces represent a milestone for Midnite, as many
mark a return to much of the graffiti imagery that first brought him notoriety,
including the gun-toting lady liberty.
The scary world depicted in 12 Midnites paintings is one of sinister cartoons,
fiery hot rods and flashing neon, a world where carrots chase rabbits and drag
racing aliens accost angry tikis, where death or romance may be lurking around
any shadow-draped corner, all decided by a roll of the dice ....and for one
afternoon at least, all this can be yours for only $49.99.
Remember: owning art is cool.

NOTE: I know I missed a few of what you all sent me this past week or so. I'm sorry as the site problems really screwed things up here for a few days. LP
Despite that some successful people have told me I shouldn't post information like this, I find in all honesty, I must.
At the beginning of 2001 I committed myself to this website as my main source of income. I gave it until the first major Div. 6 drag race of the year to reach a certain point in ad revenue. Today, less than two weeks before that Federal Mogul race in Boise, that goal has not been met...not even close.
Due to this I have been forced to rethink my future plans, both immediate and long-term. Despite the fact visitors to this site are going up every month, and we are currently at an all-time high, the major advertisers I had hoped would see HH as a good venue have not. Another disappointing part of this was that no American advertisers came forward. Since this site attracts more Americans than Canadians, and our dollar is so low, I had anticipated that American companies would be a major portion of the HH advertising team. Obviously not.
Because we have some current advertisers paid up for another month we will honor that by continuing the site until the end of April.
It's a situation we have been through here before, hence the reason why our title banner includes the number 3. There's still the chance something will come up in the next couple of weeks, but to be honest, I will be actively looking for work outside of drag racing from this point forward.
Not the best news to start the week. I would have posted this a few days earlier, but didn't want anyone to think it was some kind of April Fool joke. Regular postings will continue here soon.
Advertising Information:
Due to our current situation HH cannot accept advertising for anything less than six months ($500 Canadian), and without a good number of those, I will not consider taking anyone's money.
HH needs to have enough resources on hand to take a few weeks to completely update the site, then 2-3 months to put in a major effort to attract some significant long term advertising partners. With the site in it's current state, a few short term advertisers will not be enough.
Marketing plans such as those for Div. 6 Federal-Mogul races, specialty events (i.e.: Motorcycle Drags, Super Class races, Street Legal, Nostalgia Drags, etc.) are all still possible...AT ANY VENUE ANYWHERE. If interested, please let me know what you may be interested in and I will put something together for you. The yearlong MRP package has been discontinued.
PLEASE NOTE: The entire site is also open to one single advertiser/partner. Considering what some major companies are spending on a website, HH would be a bargain. Your site would have the instant credibility that only our years of building up the site could offer.
The above goals may be a dream to be able to accomplish in just one month, but at this point there is no other choice. I'll keep picking up the occasional lotto ticket too...
Thanks for you Interest: LP
The HH April Fool is over...if you missed it, you missed it. The NHRA site had another well done deal, but it was more-or-less a duplicate of what they did a couple of years ago when their original online AF classic took the drag racing world by STORM.
