Ya, I know it's only 10:30. Consider it an early one for all you online shoppers out tonite Oh look...two presents with your name on em. The D6 banquet music video we'll only have up until Jan. 1 and an image I'm all but certain many of you will enjoy making a poster of, using as a screen saver, or if you're not a fan maybe makin' a dart board out of it! Whatever personal, noncommercial use you desire, have at it folks. Dial-uppers beware, it's a BIG Xmas present! I've been in family mode the past week or so as this Christmas is a very special one for our families. I needed a bit of a break from here anyway. I hope to get to all my e-mail asap. It was awesome that so many of you sent in messages of all kinds the past few weeks, thank you all so very, very much. So here's to yawl with warmest wishes from my family to yours! MRP 2007 schedule coming soon Blair gets early Christmas surprise HH Exclusive The operations staff of Marston Maddox and Mike Stafford will join The Strip and Dirt Track staff of Mark Dawson and Blair's Administrative Assistant Ellen Wonnacott to form the new Racing Operations division. Blair and the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Racing Operations staff will oversee the production, promotion and sales of more than 180 event days per year at the 1,500 acre, multi-track facility. "I told you when we went for coffee last week that there were going to be some changes for 2007," said Blair in a Horsepowerheaven.com exclusive. "I knew at that time that we were going to have some staff changes and that all of the various tracks would be reporting to me but I had no idea about the promotion to Vice President. I had spent the whole night just trying to get back to Vegas from Seattle during the storms and walked into the office about 5 minutes before the announcement. When Chris Powell said "Congratulations Mr. Vice President" I was completely caught off guard. It really changed my mood as I was still mad about sitting through a driving rainstorm watching the Seahawks blow the game the night before! "I've felt extremely fortunate the last five years to be a part of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Speedway Motorsports, Incorporated family. This opens up a lot of new challenges for me and I'm excited about this next step in my career. I really feel blessed this holiday season and thank all of my family, friends, track crew and the racers who have been so supportive for so long." P.S. - Be on the lookout for more quarter-midget racing at LVMS in the near future. Evans Bros. have dinner of a lifetime at PRI "When we went to dinner on Saturday at Vittorios Chop House in Orlando
we noticed Chris Economaki having dinner by himself, so I went and introduced
myself and after a few minutes asked if he would like to join us for dinner
he replied "I would really like that". What then ensued was almost two hours of him telling us stories starting
from the thirties all the way to now. He was so well spoken on each recollection
on every story it just blew us away. At 86 he is undoubtedly the best
racing journalist who ever and still does live. We even drove him two
blocks back to his hotel. Congrats to Grandma and Grandpa Wiebe!
I'm sorry, but photo sales are not going to happen anytime soon, the payment and delivery methods did not work out. I'll see if I can put something together in the new year, but for now I am not planning on selling any photos, so please don't ask.
Say hello to the new twins of proud parents Glenn and Lee Miller! That's Gavin Lamont on the left who came in at 3lbs 10oz and his brother Riley George who arrived at a 'big' 3lbs 13oz. The little dudes were born November 3, a little earlier than planned (six weeks!) , but they're doing great and if they aren't home yet, should be soon.
HHTV presents highlights of the 2006 NHRA Division Six Banquet December 9 from Seattle. The D6 music video is coming soon. The photo thing is plodding along very slowly, and because of the upcoming storm tonight that will almost surely cause more lengthy power disruptions, we are delaying the start of sales yet again. Have decided we can only offer single images at this time (Xmas an all) but will have package deals for multiple pics that'll save ya a ton in a few weeks...or so.

D6 Bash Weekend We'll have an HHTV feature video of the D6 banquet up tomorrow! All the major winners can be embarrassed all over again. LP will be on an HH video for the first time ever, and we'll also post a separate clip of the music video that we played there. Though it will only be up for a short time so watch it whilst you can. How bout that MRP eh? Track of the Year back to-back! Only thing we missed out on was that darn National Dragster Contributor plaque. Scott New was there to represent the New Crew from Boise, and just like I did here last year told him I'm gunnin' for 'em "next year" wanting the award that Firebird and Woodburn have had a lock on for what seems like forever. Madras on a roll, the little track from Oregon once again making HH dream of going there some day. Steve Federlin. NHRA Division Six Top Alcohol dragster champion for an unprecedented third time running. Afterwards the champ told HH he may not drive again. His health is still an issue, but he did express interest in continuing in a non-driving capacity. "We're probably gonna look for a driver" he said rather solemnly. If we have seen the last of Federlin behind the wheel it would mark the end of a legendary driving career. Somebody could make a hell of a movie outta the Federlin story. Great to see both Lezlee and Mark Hentges here to watch their kids awarded some serious hardware. Dustin taking three championships, two in Top Comp Lucas and Natl Open, one in National Open Super Pro and Alston in Summit Junior Thunder. Alan Falcone was awesome! His wonderful tale of youth and old age finished with a joyful "Well wadda ya thinka this kids!" as he hoisted his big National Open Stock/Super Stock Combo Wally into the air. Wonder Woman goes Haywire at Skagit. Anita Cunningham and her entourage nail nice win Sunday afternoon on a quarter Haywire machine...mere minutes after she blessed the HH poker machine that paid off handsomely as well. DD Adams making no secret of what it takes to get on his good side. "I've got it on ice up in the room" he told HH of our gift of gourmet chocolate milk after the ceremony. We hear he shared but one glass of the brown creamy brew from Linden Washington, then emptied the BIG container in a tower suite during the wee hours of Saturday. Speaking of hours, this thing was done in record time, as we were treated to a 60 lbs lighter Johnny Moto doing a fine job as MC. Will we ever not see you at one of these? was the question we posed to Mike Rice. "I doubt it" he smiled. How cool was it to see the two DDs up there sharing the podium yet again? That's pretty neat and shows not just the friendship Adams and Rice share, but the impressive solidarity of west coast NHRA sportsman drag racing. Michael Peck Jr. hangin with Howe Jr. and that Warter kid....Cannot remember last time we didn't see an Austin here...Whatever happened to that bracket hall of fame?? Anyway, we missed seeing Gary Faul here to watch his kid Mark take home a fine Super Stock championship. D6 Hall-of-Fame was passed on this year. Just as it was in 1997. "There were some people who just HAD to be here, who could not make it" said DD Adams of the originally planned recipient. It appears they may well announce the name before the 2007 banquet. A good move imo. Fun to watch Sib getting Wally number four...and can somebody give Jimmy Behnke a hand... Thanks to Johnny Gross for having the sense to grab my camcorder when that Ernie Hall thing came up, then doing a great job with our Panasonic! A number of people coming up later and talked to me about Ernie. Judy Bergstrom telling of how she and Gene introduced Halls name to it. Didn't take long for me to realize what memorial awards like this are all about. I continue to stand in awe of what happened to me, and can barely begin to thank all my friends. It was something I'll remember the all my life. Mike Rice awarded it, I'm gonna have to buy my first Rich Carlson trophy picture, and I still have a smile on my face. Lucas announcing here that their motor oil will soon be available in both Pep Boys and the NAPA distributions. What a night in Seattle. These things are great every year, but this year for me it is surreal. An oh ya...when you hear who's goin inta the D6HoF 365 days from now, best reserve your tickets quick, cause that baby's gonna be SRO. Got to visit with Chris Blair over coffee this morning . The LVMS honcho up here to visit a bunch of friends and attend some sporting events. Lots of neat new stuff happening at THE STRIP in 2007, I know HH'll be back at some point, and don't forget our printable schedule for them here.

PHOTO SALES TO START TUESDAY DECEMBER 12 Once home from that we'll finalize all the details on how you'll be able to order high resolution digital photos so you can all blow them up, make a zillion copies, put 'em on shirts, mugs, calendars whatever you want. All images will be e-mailed only, and there will be NO refunds. Once you've paid and it's sent, it's a done deal. Yes I can send samples first and all images will be cropped, color corrected, sharpened and put through noise reduction software - at NO extra charge. More details to follow. You will be able to order online for (in most cases) next day delivery (at U.S prices) and the more you buy the cheaper each image gets. You will also be able to purchase via mail order though images will not be e-mailed until the check clears. Money orders will be quicker delivery than checks. We're trying to do this in an all new way. The details we've been struggling with are almost all taken care of. There are so many details and possible scenarios to deal with here it's unbelievable. Hopefully we'll have them all sorted out once ordering begins. Beyond photos we still have a ton of video work to deal with including a number of HHTV productions, and plans for 2007. Thank you! Doug Marx, age 53, passed away suddenly at Burnaby General Hospital on November 27, 2006. A memmber of the Northwest Stock Super Stock Association Marx drove a read & white Q Stock Automatic 1966 Caprice 4 door. Survived by his loving mother Jean and his two brothers Brian and Bruce. Service of Remembrance will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Chapel, 3789 Royal Oak Ave. on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at 2:00 pm.
December? Already? This week we managed to post almost all of our 2006 photos with the Vegas Lucas still awaiting attention. HH photo sales have not yet started because we simply know it will be crazy and we want to have all of our 'must do' work in the can before we ad what will surely be a lot of new work. What we can tell you right now is that this will not be photo sales the way most other shooters do it. We will not sell proofs or enlargements of any kind. All sales will be digital and done online. The one main thing holding up photos sales is the final major event of 2006, the NHRA Champions Banquet in Seattle next Saturday Night. It is here where we show three separate videos of the Lucas champs, those from the National Open Series as well as a grand finale video showcasing just how cool drag racing was in 2006 in the Land of the Leaders. Hopefully you can make it as we've got the inside scoop on a few of the special awards and we guarantee you once it's done you'll wish you hadda been there. Wicked HH at the PRI Show HHTV has taken a bit of a hit here in the late season but we will extend our coverage into the new year for a couple of months to try and make up for it. Beyond that the future of HHTV is uncertain. We have a number of ideas, we just have to decide which direction to take this in.
