Message to LVMS racers from Mel Roth, PSCA This
weekend at The Strip: the PSCA is ready to start its ninth racing season! The
PSCA features nine exciting heads-up (first-to-the-finish-line- wins) classes
from Pro Street (220 mph/6-sec. insane rides) to Limited Street (small blocks
on a small tire). We also offer three Bracket (Open Comp, Bracket-1 and Trophy)
and two Index (9.60 and 10.60) classes. Everybody can either race or watch, so
come on down, pick out a class and have the time of your life!
Lotsa cool Winternats pics 'n stuff at Zone and NitroPhoto...Congrats to big Anthony Castillo on his big win in Super Comp at Pomona yesterday...and speaking of Super Comp (and the Drzayich family) we've learned daughter Jamie is getting one of the dragsters, that cool Caddy is still in the clan, Mike has a new job and lives in Texas while Adam is with the WJ operation where he could well have a big future! Mr Tamez has the Grand Am, Scott Schue the Firebird...and speaking of Doorslammers look for the Canada West Assc. to travel south for the first time, on Sept. 16/17 as they run at Pacific Raceways...speaking of which they actually ran a TestnTune yesterday. 510 spectators, 282 cars, including over 30 of the NHRDA trucks, over 20 bikes, 8 Juniors, some fast street Stangs and a bunch more. Track Manager Russell Stevenson would like HH to pass along his personal thanks to everyone who made it out despite the fact they did no advertising and added the date to the schedule late. That schedule is now basically complete and they'll try it again Feb. 19th and 26th...buncha locals goin' south to LVMS this weekend as the PSCA opens their new season. Wish we could be there but video work continues daily on both features and an upcoming online service that we intend to blow everybody away with. Stay tuned eh. Post Pomona testing at LVMS
This weekend at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway: Pacific Street Car Association (PSCA) Winter Nationals and Super E Association LAS VEGAS - The exciting, always-entertaining Pacific Street Car Association (PSCA) returns to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend for the first PSCA Las Vegas meet of 2006. The PSCA Winter Nationals will be joined by the Super E Association dragsters. Racers from both sanctioning bodies will participate in a Test 'n' Tune session on Friday, with time trials on Saturday and eliminations on Sunday. The PSCA is famous for its 220+ mph "doorslammers," featuring perennial favorite Ed Thornton of Chino Hills, Calif., and his wild, record-setting 1957 Chevrolet (photo above). PSCA racing is "heads-up," first-man-to-the-finish-line wins. Spectator gates will open Saturday and Sunday at 7 a.m. with on-track activity beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, February 17 Saturday, February 18

stuff You knew it had to happen Dept. DRO does a story on Pomona and the passing of the American drag racer Jack Williams, and proceeds to pull a pic from their archives...of the Canadian Jack Williams. It's a great shot of the Syndicate dragster at the Winters, but I'm sure a few of you have already sent them e-mail... Anybody catch the bike show on SPEED this past Tuesday that included a piece on some dude who set a 300 ft. world record bike jump at Pacific Raceways last year. Considering how many camcorders were on hand this had to be a teaser for something more as the coverage was...ok. Once a hotbed for such stunts the Kent facility has hosted a major Kenevel wreck and a dude named Terry Star who set a world snowmobile mark. As well, names like Rex Davis & Gary Blackwell (The guys who came at each other from opposite directions...with all the cars over to the side.) and Bob Corel on his insane hang-glider-equipped piece that splattered more often than it landed. We've got a wild wreck sequence from a Portland flopper show that we'll have to pull out one day. Good time at last weekend's Ashcroft party...until the (false) fire alarm went off. Nobody seemed to care the star host came up lame and didn't show, speeches were at an all-time low (thank Gawd!) with the majority of the evening was taken up by what turned out to be a giant auction of donated cool items. Lotsa talk about the big buck bracket race, that will have some fine-tuning done before all the rules are finalized and even DD Jonathan Adams was on hand. Every year we never quite seem ready to take this thing in, and every year we leave wishing the next one would come sooner. We'll complete all work on the 2005 CMDRA video by getting all the media releases sent out today and delivering the second order to the CMDRA office in Surrey after they sold out the first batch in record time. It's now elephant time here at HH as we go back to the half done Hemi Heaven 2005 video featuring Super Stock Hemi Shoot-outs from Mission, Seattle and Vegas...along with a bunch of bonus footage from Mopars at The Strip...which goes March 24, 25, 26 this year. We are currently still in negotiations with BCCCA as to what we can do to help out this year. There is no doubt our web work with the MRP site will decrease for 2006, but just how much remains to be seen. And before anybody gets any stupid ideas, this is our choice as we continue to move more into feature videos, and away from web 'work'. An all new website has just debuted. 1320tv.com is an ambitious effort that has some serious backing, good people involved and should be huge once it really gets going. Not simply a drag racing web-based video site, but an actual 'network' according to owner Susan Wade of Snohomish WA who has already offered HH space. "Bring along a sponsor and we'll do something" she told HH at LVMS last month as we shot some interviews for her. This is just one of three (other people's) web video projects we are looking into, most of which involve sponsors so if anybody out there is serious we have the ability to move in a number of different directions right now, so please contact us if you have some interest. Regardless what happens HH video is working towards moving to the next level. We will not rush into this, but by this time next year you may wish you had picked up on us before your competition did. For all you camera nuts it's almost Xmas as we approach the biggest Photo show of the year when many new models are either released or announced. Our search for a new digital still camera is awaiting a new Canon DSLR and hopefully something big from Panasonic. Have also noticed for the third year running, that most all electronics get really cheap right about now as tons of new stuff is coming out all quarter long. proves once again the longer you want the better deal you'll get...and never buy in December. Our new online video order form is working great, but bogus new Canada Post rules will very soon effect our Canadian orders. It costs us more than double to ship a single DVD to Florida than to Alberta (don't ask about anything east of that) as even though a single disc easily fits the 'letter' size and weight numbers, the dudez who make the rulez have said "paper only" forcing us to pay almost TEN TIMES as much as we used to. Gotta copy of the new 2006 BudPark Schedule. Nice piece!

out OCC... There's no need for HH to write this up as it's everywhere online in the truck world. All we can say is these guys got it happening, they deserve everything they get outta this, and we expect that to be nothing short of total stardom! The show debuts this Friday on CMT...US only, Canada gets it up the poop shoot yet again, so if anybody tapes it please send me a copy. Our new online video order system is back up. Being based in Canada and using an American online vendor is not an easy system to deal with. We went through literally dozens of different pricing plans and ended up with what you see. From here on we can take orders from and ship to anywhere on Earth and you can use any major credit card and PayPal. Our vendor, CCNOW, is still the best solution we can find and because everything is priced in U.S. funds we have dropped some prices considerably in an effort to not only get more in-line with our competition but to make it better for my fellow countrymen (and women) to purchase our products as simply and quickly as possible. We have even included the option for Canadians to pay in Canadian funds by mail order if they don't mind waiting longer to get their HH stuff. After the experience of the 2005 CMDRA video which turned into a two disc set we expect this trend to continue. Next up will be the single DVD Hemi Heaven by the end of this month followed soon after by Wicked Street of the West which we now expect will be a two DVD package. There are many other things on the video front including our continuing look into webcasting. We've been in contact with a number of U.S. sites which will be into this, all of whom have expressed interest in our work. It remains to be seen if we will go with somebody else or try our own deal. Stay tuned as this will be major league regardless what we do. As for the many who constantly remind us we don't post all the news type stuff we used to...We again request your patience as we are in a very volatile position right now with a number of major contracts, ideas and plans at critical stages. I need time to get my own act together before HH can go back to doing what we can for all of you. This site will be back bigger and better than ever just as soon as possible. |
