Happy New Years Eve Everybody! We gotta tradition round here come this particular night. Hard to believe the first HH 'Spectacular' was 1999. As we move more into video than ever before, it was obvious if this was to continue we had to try and take it to the next level. So here you have it...surprise, surprise. A bunch of never-before-seen video! And we begin with a couple of clips we know'll get hit on. Potential 'Wicked' sponsors take note. That's right, here are the first ever clips from Wicked: A 'first attempt' intro you'll never see on the final project....Some actual edited pieces, and a few shots I know won't get to the final cut...but you'll get the idea. The first hour or so will be pre 2000. The portion from which these scenes all come from. Note the video will cover through 2006. December 24, 2007 The schedule around here is as crazy today as any day last August. A good thing in so many ways that makes me so thankful of what I have. An awesome family. So many good friends. And a job that's a dream come true. We're going into 2008 strong. A good sign after a basically rotten 2007. Our season begins in mere weeks when HH will be at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the PSCA Season Opener Jan 25, 26, 27. There was once a plan to try and have Wicked done for that weekend, but I doubt it'll happen. I'm not really taking any time off. The work I have is too cool. A hand out for Shawn Cowie...promo video for John Evanchuck...Stick Super Stock and Top Sportsman guys wanting videos...a couple of posters...some other print work. ...A surprise D7 Bracket Finals video that'll be for sale real soon. A surprise cause it turned out a lot cooler than I thought it would. Bit of a redo on the MRP site, and maybe this one too...Ya right, when I got nuthin' more important ta do! Wicked? Ya I know. Workin on it. But for right now I sincerely wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. I've got some ideas for a New Years Eve posting, but not sure there's time to pull it off. Take it easy the next few days, drive safe and drive sober eh! Bingle Jells!

Updated schedule and Sportsman category information for seventh annual Nitro Blastoff Preseason Test Session Jan. 18-20 at The Strip at LVMS LAS VEGAS Officials for The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway today released a final run schedule and Sportsman racer information for the seventh annual Nitro Blast-Off Preseason Test Session which will take place Jan. 18-20, 2008, at Americas Greatest Drag Strip. "The biggest change for 2008 is that the event will now be a three-day test session instead of four days" said Chris Blair, LVMS Vice President of Racing Operations. "In addition, the event will now start one hour earlier and conclude one hour later each day. This was done to accommodate racers and crew chiefs who enjoy Las Vegas Motor Speedway's superior racing surface and excellent atmospheric conditions on the best prepared track in the industry." Through the years, the Las Vegas test has been the proving ground for technical and safety developments, the debut of new teams and the opportunity for drivers to obtain professional competition licenses. never heard before. A story that many more Northwest drag racers will
hear for the very first time. A story some will hear for the first time
in a long time. The story of Krohn, Parmenter and Rue.
A word of thanks Braid is back "I've got no desire to ever go drag racing again" he told us. "Maybe pick up a cool ride down the road, but right now it's all business". I told him work on 'Wicked' is still ongoing and HH was gonna "make him famous all over again" to which he just laughed. So if yur out lookin' for some cool jeweler "I can make anything" he said, drop by or give him a call. D6 Awards Banquet Held in a new room for this ceremony at the Double Tree Inn SeaTac, the evening began with the National Open portion that saw all the champions here to accept their big gold Wallys, all but Pro champion Curtis Munson. At the end of that, an HH video of the series was shown just before dinner was served. After the meal we went into the Summit ET awards where Mike Shannon, who was not here, was named winner of the Mel Bresaw Memorial ET Racer of the Year. Shannon also won Super Gas and Super Pro in the National Open Series. Winner of the 2007 O'Reilly Auto Parts JDRL Western Conference Finals in Denver this past July 31, Rochelle Pappel, was here to accept the Don Rhyne Memorial Junior Dragster Driver of the Year. Then as the Pomona ET finalists were announced we learned a few interesting tidbits. Super Pro ROC champ Tim Schroedl of Bremerton drives his car to the track, bolts on slicks, races, then takes them off to drive home...Pro winner Ken Stevens from Springfield, Ore had an unfortunate accident in the lanes at the finals when a competitor rear-ended him. He brushed it off and continued in competition...but perhaps the toughest deal of them all was Bike winner Mark Cant. Racing the season without electronics, and facing the prospect of running against a field who do at Pomona, Canty tested them at Woodburn's final race of the year. It was there he had an accident that resulted in 13 broken bones, but despite all that he showed up to compete at Pomona a week or so later! Woodburn Track Manager Gene Bergstrom accepted the National Dragster 'Be a Winner Be a Member' award for the division, then went on to proudly announce that his facility not only had the most winners in the Division, but the nation as well. He also accepted the track's 13th Team Championship in the 30 year history of the ET event, then added the fact they had been runner up eight other times! Bergstrom also told a brief history of the event back when Frank Hall was the DD. To end that portion current DD Adams 'mentioned' that he was a year old when the series began. Finally the Team Spirit Award went to a group of folks who have come to epitomize this award, the people from Madras Oregon. The ET awards ended with a wonderful video courtesy of George and Karen Adams on nwdragracing.com. Before we got into the Lucas Series Champions a number of special awards were announced. Sportsman Driver of the Year went to Jody Lang, who was not here. National Dragster Contributor of the Year went to perennial winners the New Crew of Firebird Raceway in Boise Idaho. Scott New accepted and took the opportunity to tell of the major work going on at Firebird that will see paved pit parking for over 600 cars come the Lucas Series opener April 25, 26, 27, 2008. The Track awards were next with Bremerton winning Summit Track of the Year, the Eagle Motorplex in Ashcroft capturing Most Improved and Mission Raceway Park repeating their 2007 win as the Lucas Series Track of the Year. Into the crew chief awards, Stan Leerkamp won for Sportsman Crew Chief and Steve & Patty Federlin claimed the Alcohol award. Alky Dragster driver Shawn Cowie, from Richmond BC, won the Rod Hoerner Memorial Rookie of the Year, Lucas Oil took Sponsor of the Year, while the Gracious Lady Award went to a shocked Val Manfred - who most of you know as the lady who literally bounces on the starting line watching her husband Tom compete in Super Street. Just before the Lucas awards yet another video was played, a Lucas champions piece by Ryan Warter. The Lucas champions were up next, TAD champ Thomas Bayer bringing the entire Toyo Tire team up onto the podium to accept his championship trophy. Repeat champion Brian Hough was brief in his acceptance of the Funny Car Wally, as was Comp winner Jeff Lane. Gracious was the only way to describe Super Stock champion Alan Falcone, who made reference to the junior champions, while Stock winner Brad Plourd had the crowd in stitches with some 'comments' even HH won't put in print. Super Comp champ Anthony Castillo, who also won in 2003, was his quiet self thanking his parents among others. He also finished three in the world, his third time in the top ten nationally. Super Gas winner Mike Coltrin and Super Street winner Gord Boven were both here to accept as was repeat bike champ Jeff Havens. New for 2008 was a well-deserved Wally for Top Sportsman champ Randy Johnson, who as usual was here with the entire family. The first ever D6 Top Dragster champion Tom Malicki was not present. Final award of the night was the Ernie Hall Memorial Person of the Year, which proved to be a popular one, when D6 starter Mark Lyle was very surprised when his name was read out by Rice. The night ended with the grand finale video by Warter featuring many wild moments of 2008. But wait there was more...DD Adams had brought in a practice tree for the first ever D6 Practice Tree Nationals. A $20 entry fee (that went to RFC) saw a big field of 'racers' that came down to an excellent final. In the right lane veteran Ed Hauter went up against 'the kid' Brad Plourd with Hauter coming out victorious .402 to a .413. All-in-all a great night for some great champions. Also of note was an informative speech by Graham Light and news that the Acton Lucas was back on as was the Seattle race. The now complete D6 Lucas schedule is here.
