Bayer, Hough win in Medford

EAGLE POINT, Ore. – In the final results from Champion Raceway and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Northwest Championship it was Thomas Bayer taking his second win of his rookie season in Top Alcohol Dragster. The California racer took the win when Joey Severance broke on the burnout giving Bayer a single run in the final. The win extended Bayer’s Northwest Division points lead over Severance to nearly 100 points.

Klamath Falls resident Clint Thompson came into this weekend’s event with a 22-point lead over Hank Coolidge and 32-points ahead of defending division champion Brian Hough in Top Alcohol Funny Car. Thompson fell to Coolidge in a semi-final match up, then Coolidge, the No. 1 qualifier this weekend, lost in the final to Hough who ran a 5.942 second, 245.40 mph pass to Coolidge’s quicker 5.835 at 244.07. The win moves Hough into the point’s lead.

In Comp Eliminator it was one vs.. two with the No. 2 qualifier Doug Lambeck taking the win over J.D. Zink with a 9.434 second pass. Zink gave away the win when he left early with a red-light.

Alan Falcone beat out Mike Blackstone in the final of Super Stock with a lap of 9.755 seconds at 135.16 mph and Tommy Gaynor won in Stock Eliminator over Mark Faul with an 11.466, 116.60 mph run. Dave Morgan narrowly won in Top Dragster over Stan Leerkamp with a 7.245 second lap to Leerkamp’s 7.295.

Randy Johnson held off No. 1 qualifier Kurtis Tamez in the Top Sportsman class running 7.679 seconds at 177.39 mph while Carl Hagen won over former division champion Jeff Jackson in Super Street. Hagen, last year’s event runner-up, ran 10.909 seconds at 148.79 mph over Jackson.

Other winner’s this weekend included Michael Dalrymple beating Mike Henderson in Super Comp; Mike Coltrin won over Greg Zucco in Super Gas; and Leeland King took the trophy in the Sportsman Motorcycle class presented by Harley Davidson with an 8.734 second pass at 152.02 mph.

Northwest Division racers head to Woodburn Dragstrip for the next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, July 6-8.

The summer drag racing season is here with a number of events on tap for this weekend
At Mission the West Coast Pro Mods come to town for a big 16 car qualified show. Toss in the Canada West Doorslammers, street cars (I guess...cause I haven't heard anything on who, what or how this part of the program's gonna happen) and a bracket race...after weeks of rain outs, and it should be a great race...if the weather holds. Down in Medford Oregon The NHRA Division Six Lucas race is on followed by another next weekend at Woodburn.

Alberta has a couple of big races including a Top Alcohol Shoot-out at Medicine Hat, while the CMDRA is in Edmonton.

New RealPlayer allows downloads from streaming sites
Wanna download all those HHTV vids, those on the Mission site, YouTube, and Streetfire clips? Install the BETA of RealPlayer here and download yer ass off. This is gonna drive lots of big companies totally nuts, but as far as the streaming HH videos I've posted the last year or so, go for it. I tried it today and it works fine on most of the sites I tried it on. A couple still have some kind of protection that blocks it, but it works on most of the main sites you all know and love. It is BETA though so be prepared for any issues.

Bremerton NHRA National Open this weekend
Bremerton Raceway will be the place where the best racers in NHRA Division 6 will meet to compete this weekend. It all starts Friday, June 22nd with a Test & Tune at 11 am and the Gambler's Race, broken in Electronics and Non-Electronics, starting at 2 pm.

Saturday is the NHRA National Open Series #4. Junior Dragsters Thunder and Lightning (kids 8-17), brackets (Sportsman, High School, Pro, Motorcycle and Super Pro) and classes (Stock/Super Stock, Super Street (10.90 Index), Super Gas (9.90 Index), Super Comp (8.90 Index) and Top Comp (8.19 & quicker) will compete for the coveted Wally award.

Sunday is the NHRA National Open Series #5 which is the same format as Saturday except we will add High School to the brackets. The brackets will be racing for the Team Bremerton Points with a guaranteed $3,500.00 purse. A Wally will be awarded to the winner of each bracket and class.

Don't miss it! The gates open Friday at 8 am, Saturday at 8 am and Sunday at 7 am. Gate admission is $10.00 for adults, $8.00 for active duty military and senior citizens.

AHDRA and July 4th party at Pacific Raceways
Drag Bike fans and racers will be out in force this weekend as the All Harley Drag Racing Association brings some of the baddest bikes on the planet to Pacific Raceways in Kent WA. For more info check the page here.

Then Wednesday night July 4th PR rips it up with a first ever holiday race that is certain to be a blast! NitroMoose Motorsports Doubles In Size

That newest drag racing phenomenon from Canada, NitroMoose Motorsports, has doubled in size.

First established during the mid 2006, after associations were formed with Pro Modified owner Kirk Silbermann, his driver Scott Wildgust, and with NHRA Division 1 TAD Champion Daniel Mercier, NitroMoose Motorsports has added two more teams for 2007. The company which produces a unique line of branded apparel and promotes its products as "Cool from Canada", is pleased to announce its first Western Canadian entry and also it's first U.S.-based team.

NitroMoose will be represented in Western Canada by a fast-rising Top Alcohol Dragster team, based from Alberta, EDW Racing, which is owned by driver Ed Douglas, (Sexsmith, AB) and tuned by Paul Julien (Mission BC), proudly began displaying the NitroMoose brand on their potent supercharged machine effective with the recent LODRS Division 6 event held at Mission Raceway. The team will continue to help showcase and promote NitroMoose products at select events in both Western Canada and the U.S. Pacific Northwest the remainder of this season.

The EDW/NitroMoose team runs a state-of-the-art Brad Hadman-built dragster featuring a 450 CID BAE motor and a PSI supercharger.

More recently, a second agreement was reached between NitroMoose and New Jersey-based DeAngelis Motorsports, another top-running TAD team based from NHRA Division One. Effective with this weekend's upcoming NHRA ProCare RX SuperNationals at Englishtown, the new NitroMoose/DeAngelis Motorsports dragster will debut officially.

Driver Dave DeAngelis is widely regarded as one of the most undiscovered talented drivers in the TAD category. Driving his 451 CID BAE-powered Precision-built dragster, he already has a NHRA LODRS circuit victory to his credit this season.

Hey All:
I am very pleased to inform you that the track Re-Surfacing (milling) has just been completed in time for the third Top Alcohol Shootout June 29/30/July 1. I am including a couple of pics of the work that was being done.
If I can help to inform you of the changes or help with accommodations please let me know. I would appreciate it if you or your team representative could let me know if you will attend. This way we can allow the proper pit allocations in the new pro-pit area on the northside of the return road.
Also as you may have read in previous correspondence from Club President Clint Rabb, Sonic Oilfield Supply is giving two drums of methanol to each team in attendance, so please don't forget you must bring your own drums.

Rain wrecks Seattle Lucas
It was a looooong weekend at Pacific Raceways, and thanks to way too much rain and the infamous curfew, this Lucas race could not be completed. Thus the event will be split up three ways.

The scheduled time to complete this event is August 25th. (Same as the Night of Fire at MRP) Gates will open at 4:00 PM, and all remaining competitors will have at least one time trial before eliminations continue.

The Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car Final Rounds will be held during the NHRA National Event weekend here in Seattle July 20-22, 2007. The Sportsman Motorcycle class will finish their class at the LODRS Event in Woodburn Oregon July 5th.

Sad only begins to describe it
In light of this weekend's incident in Selmer Tennessee, I feel we should all watch carefully how the mainstream media handles it. Though there have been roughly similar incidents occur in the past, there has been nothing on this scale. The mainstream media putting the two words 'drag racing' on the world stage in this information age because of a non-sanctioned street event disaster is rather disconcerting. Father's Day 2007 will have ramifications far beyond a small town in the southern U.S. that will take time to play out. After perhaps the worst happening in the history of our sport, the racing masses are utterly powerless to do anything about it. Well maybe not completely.

One of the first things I thought about were the many, many small town 'drag/street/airport races' that are popping up everywhere. Often on 'tracks' with questionable safety procedures. If nothing else, anyone involved with such an event should take some extra time to honestly and seriously review all safety matters for their event. What may have seemed safe last week, may not be today. Fast machines are dangerous in any situation, and one can NEVER BE TOO SAFE. Never.

With cars like the one involved in this incident coming to my home strip in just two weeks it makes promotion something that must be well thought out. I do believe it's time to put to bed the long running ad headline "Pro Mod Madness". It just strikes too close too home right now and could give the mainstream media and public the wrong impression. Then again such promo may well pack the place. Such is the dilemma of how best to deal with all this.

The world outside of we enthusiasts now looks at the term 'drag racing' a lot different than it did a week ago. The pros should be ok, so it could be the little events that may well bear the burden of this. Big event or small, safety has always been our number one concern. From this day forward we all must make that extra effort to ensure it is and always will be.

Happy Father's day to all the big daddies out there, especially mine!

Unfortunately most of the 'drag racing' news today is of the tragedy in Memphis. I don't feel I need to go into it here.

There is however other news to report. It's still wet in Seattle, I do not know if tomorrow is a rain date or some other day. Hopefully they can get er done...but there's a lot to get done and the forecast is for wet until the afternoon when it may clear...a bit. Check the Covington traffic cam for about the closest up-to-the-minute conditions you can get.

Pretty wet here too as MRP has rained out yet again. Better luck for next Friday's street legal then the big Pro Mod show June 29-July 1. We'll have a video promo up this week so check it out.

BCHRA Friday pics

Mission has rained out today, will try again tomorrow...it's raining again in Seattle...Cowie did not only not qualify, but did not get a full hit in. Doubt too many 'journalists' will venture close to that pit and ask questions.

Ugly weather almost all around this morning as we bring you some photos of the Seattle Lucas courtesy Rich Carlson. As of 9:30 this morning they're racin in Kent. News in TAD is that the Cowie/Austin team is struggling and not yet in the show. Though a third session is scheduled, if the weather does not hold...well let's not even think about that right now.

Seattle results Note: Congratulations to Gary Howe for taking his GT/L Super Stocker to a fabulous 10.93 thus making it the first time in history a 1955 Chevy has run a ten in SS trim.

HH took in Dirt Cup Thursday thanks to Chris Blair who was in town for a brief visit. We're still picking the dust out of our ears, but did manage to have the Las Vegan experience the 'true' Dirt Cup experience and take in the legendary Alger Bar & Grill before the race along with Franky Nelson Jr. and ya, the fried chicken's as good as it ever was. And ya, the BS was flying...

Last night we attended the first of two days of celebration for the British Columbia Hot Rod Association's 50th anniversary bash. The 'park-at-the-park' in the late afternoon was blessed by perfect weather so we shot a bunch of high def video. Highlights was seeing former Arlington Drag Strip manager Herb McNut seated beside Jack Williams who had brought out both the Syndicate dragster and an old hot rod that nobody has seen in eons. Very, very cool! Then later everybody cruised a couple of blocks south to downtown Cloverdale for a park-n-cruise the quickly overwhelmed the main street and ended up a couple of blocks deep in every direction. A great turnout that concludes tonight, though we won't be able to make it. We've posted some pics that we took in Cloverdale.

So as we sit here watching the Mission webcam wondering if we'll be sent home drying a second weekend in-a -row...

So much happening, or not happening...
This weekend's big rig show n race at MRP has been canceled. Seems the truckers were a bit over anxious as the reason given by the event organizers was 'threat of a flood'. They have actually moved it to another location. The Junior Dragster Nats are still on for Saturday, and there's a Street Legal race Sunday. Also both days will feature the NHRDA and BC Super Shifters. More coming later today on the MRP site.

Seattle Lucas
The big one this weekend is at Pacific Raceways for race number three of the NHRA Division Six Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. All local eyes and ears will be on on Shawn Cowie as the team is in Buckyland and Hitter knows how to tune for this place. Action starts Thursday with a Test n Tune followed by the usual drill Friday to Sunday and don't fret as they can run until 11:00 p.m.both Friday and Sat. Few features coming in and we hear the Supercharged gassers will run off Saturday night. More at the track site.

Also check out info there regarding the all new July 4th event at PR which will include a big bracket bash, jet floppers, a wheelstander, a burnout contest and more all ending with a GIANT fireworks display to end the evening. Again, more on their site.

Carl "Big Dog" Spiering - Ontario, Canada
Carl Spiering has become one of Canada's favorite drag race teams in recent years. Kenny Lang Racing - Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
Kenny Lang is definitely one of the up and comers in Pro Mod racing. Kenny's '53 Blown Corvette has proven right from the start to be a serious contender in the tough IHRA Pro Mod category, including a runner-up position at the Edmonton Rocky Mountain Nationals in 2006 and one of the first National events in 2007. The team will be racing at all IHRA National events, including the three races in Canada as well as the West Coast Pro Mod event in Mission, B.C.

Rush Hour Racing - Edmonton, Alta., Canada
John Evanchuck is the owner and driver of the Red Wolf/Big Eagle Hydro-Vac Alcohol Funny Car out of Edmonton. The car has one of the most beautiful and outstanding paint schemes and has been featured in numerous papers and magazines. John has won several major races in the West and holds at least one track record as well. They will be stepping up their race operations in 2007 in an attempt to visit the winners circle more often. John has been a long time drag racer, having piloted Top Fuel Dragsters and Funny Cars in the '70s and Alcohol Funny Cars in the '90s and beyond.

Paul Julien Motorsports - Mission, B.C., Canada
Paul Julien has owned and driven his Top Alcohol Dragster since the beginning of the new millennium. During that time, he has quickly established himself as a serious Canadian contender in the NHRA Division 6 Pacific Northwest. Until recently, the team held the distinction of being Western Canada's quickest TAD at 5.43 seconds. He has also won such races as the prestigious NHRA National Open at Mission Raceway Park.

The year 2007 will see some changes to the team. Ken Douglas has stepped up as the primary owner and will be in the drivers seat this year. Paul and his able crew will remain working on the car and performing the tuning duties at all events.

Lowe Down Racing - Agassiz, B.C., Canada
Dave and Trevor Lowe's '57 Chevy has been a fixture on the West Coast for many years. They have previously won the West Coast Pro Mod Association championship and are always a threat at every event they attend. In 2006, they partnered with RH Race Cars out of Kelowna, B.C. in fielding a beautiful new 1968 Camaro Pro Mod race car powered by an Atchison built blown Chevy engine. In their first outing at the 2006 Super Chevy show in Pomona, California, they team took home the trophy! They continued to be a threat at all of the events they attended last year

The team plans to contend for the WCPM title in 2006 and will be attending all of the West Coast Pro Mod events including the big Eaton's Cutler Hammer Pro Mod event at Mission in June. They will also attend the IHRA National Event in Edmonton, Alberta.

Friesen Motorsports - Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
This team made its Top Alcohol Funny Car debut in 2006. Sponsored by Nobel Smile (suppliers of a new teeth whitening process), they have assembled a group of veteran racers including former NHRA Division 6 Champion driver Roger Bateman and tuner Ken Murray, both of Calgary, Alberta. As a result, the team made an immediate impact on the sport, clinching 9th spot overall in the very competitive NHRA National circuit in 2006. They have traveled extensively, racing National events from Florida to Las Vegas and have been a threat at every event.

This year the team is on the road again, sporting a new paint job and flying the Nobel Smile.Com banner in an attempt to improve on their 2006 season. They have the funding, determination and talent to achieve another successful campaign in 2007.


Tim Nemeth Racing - Chilliwack, B.C., Canada
Since entering the fast paced world of Top Alcohol Funny Car racing in 2000, Tim Nemeth arrived as a true contender in 2006. Each year, Tim has made constant improvements and upgrades to his self funded funny car team, hiring the likes of Steve Boggs and Jimmy Rector for tuning advice and adding better equipment to his arsenal. In 2006, the team achieved a solid 7rd place finish in the very tough NHRA Division 6 Top Alcohol category.

Tim continues to make improvements to his race operations in 2007. He has recently acquired a new hauler for the car along with other upgrades to the car itself. In addition, Tim plans to debut a nostalgia AA/FC to race at nostalgia events in the Pacific Northwest.

Canada West Door Slammers Association
For several years, JET has been a proud series sponsor of the exciting Canada West Door Slammer Association. This independent series was developed to provide a competitive venue for the growing number of very fast "door" cars in the Pacific Northwest. Since its inception, the number of participating cars has continued to rise and the times and speeds just get faster and faster! There are a number of 6 second contenders on the circuit today with more on the way. Known for their wild burnouts, these cars, like their Pro Mod big brothers, have become crowd favorites wherever they appear.

Loafers in Ashcroft went off Sunday without a hitch...well Ted McCallum had the misfortune of puttin his beautiful Willys onto it's side at half track and slid almost to the finish line. No word on exactly what happened, but was told it was flipped back onto it's wheels and rolled back to the pit, so hopefully just some body work. Dave Magee showed up with his totally redone huffed Valiant and made some test spurts. Ray Kirton won Doorslammer over Terry Langdon-Davies. More on Zone and the door site soon.

Mission rained all weekend cept for Friday. Pics are here. Houneit was testing and ran 6.63/209.83...an we'll have more for ya soon as I can get to it.

The Loafers bring their 50th Anniversary digs to the Plex this weekend along with the Canada West Doorslammers, while MRP hosts a Bracket/Super Shifter event beside...not under, the river. And don't forget an MRP test n tune and street legal tomorrow.

Gary & Jerry Mallicoat Accident
After a drag race in Boise, ID on Sunday, Gary and Jerry were involved in a serious accident with their dually and race car trailer about 80 miles outside of Boise. Both are alive and have sustained compound stress fractures to their backs and will be in back braces for a couple months, but both have full feeling and movement in their extremities. I spoke to Gary this morning and he says they should be released from the hospital in a couple days. As to what happened, he is not sure, but while running 60 mph on cruise, the trailer began moving around a little and he suspected a low tire and was going to stop at a truck stop to check it out. The truck suddenly moved towards the guard rail, taking out several hundred feet of the rail and went off an embankment at an overpass, dropping 20 or more feet to the road below (only about 1/4 mile from the planned truck stop). From the description, both are lucky to be alive. The truck and trailer are both totaled and they are not sure of the extent of the damage to their prized AA/GS 68 'Cuda, but it appears to be repairable. News link

Green Dragon almost ready
Don Murray is almost ready to unleash his Turbo Stingray on the west coast street legal world. It's been a long time coming for the former kingpin of Northwest street car racing, and he want's nothing more than to re-claim the crown now being worn by Rash Dhaliwal.

With the trucker boys down in Tacoma coming along, and Dal Sangha ready to rock...as well as a number of others who may well step up, it's gonna get hot n heavy around here come Summer. Murray says he would love to have it ready for the big Pro Mod Street Car race at MRP Jun 3/July 1, but isn't sure he can make it.

They've all got a ways to go to claim the all time title that a now retired black Firebird set at 6.58, and with some real interest being shown by some southwest runners to maybe come here some day, one can almost safely state that the northwest fast street car scene is about to be reborn very soon.

Down in the southwest the fledgling West Coast Hot Rods will be in Phoenix this weekend and the PSCA don't run again until August 3 in Fontana.

West Coast Pro Mods...on the road to MRP
Less than two weeks from now the “West Coast Pro Mod Association” will return to compete as one of the main feature attractions at the annual Rocky Mountain Raceway “Fuel and Fire” Drag Race Show in Salt Lake City.

This event to be held on Saturday June 16 opens with the first of three rounds of qualifying Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm with eliminations for the eight-car field set for 6:00 pm Saturday night. This event is presented by “B&J Racing Transmissions” and the WCPMA has confirmed that 14 of the best Teams on the West Coast have already confirmed their attendance with more to come as teams entered this event try to qualify for the quickest eight spots.

The “WCPMA” drivers will be available through out this event to sign autographs between qualifying sessions up to elimination time. Ever year we get to race in front of standing room only grandstands when we come to Salt Lake City and the teams want to ensure all of the fans have access to the drivers so they can get as many autographs from as many drivers as possible. “WCPMA” events feature an eight car qualified field set prior to eliminations, and this year with the addition of several new teams and brand new cars this event (the first on the circuit) opens up what will be one of the toughest Professional Series to compete in on the West Coast. Last year both speed (last year set by Joe Delehay) and E.T. (Last year set by Ross Hogansen) records were re set due in part to the track having a history of being prepared to National Event like standards . With the calibre of teams and fast cars competing this year, expect to see track records reset once again. Vern Mills claims, “Salt Lake is a drivers race track and we intend on throwing everything we have at this track to stay on top Saturday night”. Last years Salt Lake City Champion was “Lee Smith” from Salem Oregon. Top drivers will be focused on defeating Smith this year as Smith has been a tough competitor in years past.

Wassa Matter...
From rather humble beginnings a friend of HH is fast becoming one of the most mentioned names in drag racing. We met Nancy Matter at the 2001 Bakersfield March Meet as a lady getting back into drag racing after a long hiatus. Today the Texas resident is driving one the biggest sponsored alky floppers in the nation and is rumored to be just a step away from a nitro announcement. We here at HH make no secret that it was Matter who has provided us with some awesome music links that have helped make past HH videos so very popular, so any chance we get to promo what she's doing it's a done deal.

Pacific Raceways to announce 4th of July Wednesday Night Spectacular soon
Just got a call from Pacific Raceways and got the inside scoop on what should be a fantastic midweek night of action at the Kent strip. This will be a major gig with tons of awesome stuff currently being planned. Look for an official announcement Friday or Monday on the Pacific Raceways site. 11:00 p.m. Got a major thunder n lightening storm happening here. Tryin my best to get this posted before the power dies, so please excuse the spellin errors, etc...

It could be considered bad taste to file away last Sunday's big written report on the Mission Lucas in favor of tonight's written report on the Ashcroft Open, but since the two tracks get along so well, and all u webaholics need info now, now, now...

The MRP report is coming this week...fer shur. Tonight however, we do Eagle.

After a late Friday night at the MRP Mopacs (which, like always was cool), we got up kinda early and arrived at Eagle about 1:00 p.m. Saturday for race number two of the NHRA National Open Series. Little did we know we'd get to bed oh...bout midnight.

This being HH's first 'ERA' event we come home happy to announce that, despite a few glitches, Eagle is alive and well. Very well. Thanks to a lot of people we were on hand to shoot for ESPN2's NHRA Raceday...though I do admit that there may be some camera and format 'issues' once I send off the clips, but hopefully everything will go well and the 'Eagle show' will air sometime later this month. We'll let all you pirate satellite Canucks, and legal Americans know exactly when.

Actually, between the fabulous MRP Lucas, the Eagle Open, and some little NHRA sales thing that happened the middle of last week, the 'N' word has been totally ga ga...freekin EVERYWHERE. Though I shared a room with D6D Jonathan Adams last night, my lips are sealed as to all the 'scoop'...well almost. I managed to wrangle a bit out of him as he was trying to go to sleep. Bottom line is, details of the sale are not out there. Anything you hear at this time must be taken with a lot of doubt. Nothing negative however. From a strictly HH seat-of-the-pants feeling on this deal...nothing...I repeat, NOTHING will surprise me, as I've had way too many 'insider' conversations the past couple of years that include everything from...nope can't go there...yet.

Getting back to Ashcroft. It was hot. How hot? Try 138 track temp this afternoon...before the rains came. Ya, we got kinda rained an blown out, but all-in-all it was a good thing. Why? Read on, class-by-class. Though, be aware we don't have anything more than final round sheets to go by, so no dial-ins, no qualifying, no who-lost-in-the-semis info.

Top Comp
What the heck is that you ask? Top what? Ok, no problem, it's still kinda cool to watch diggers n doors goin at it. Saturday we saw the defending Open champ Dustin Hentges win over Greg Carlslile. Today we saw a WILD wind and rains storm blow in about 4ish just as finalists Carslile and Jon Riedle were pulling into the lanes. Look for that final to be run at the Seattle Lucas in a couple of weeks.

Super Pro
Another reason why they rain-delayed this final as well was cause Riedel was in it too! "Ya it was quite a day" he told us as we were leaving the track. His opponent will be Mike Shannon at Seattle. On Saturday we got to see Demon Chick Vicki Strell take home Wally number five in a win over 'Drinks' Champ Jason Gibson. Husband David celebrated, and yes, proved that winning a Wally can somehow produce a head ache the next day.

Pro
There were so many people running two classes here, it was hard to keep up, but if nothing else is fer shur, the Combo guys kicked Pro butt. Brad Plourd brought the Bob Lambeck-owned A/SA Yenko clone to Eagle and not only pleased all the shooters in the stands with giant wheelies on every hit, but the Maple Valley WA hitter won Saturday over Dave Rastad (who is looking real good already in the Kvaas Firebird). On Sunday it was...who else?? Cory Thompson taking the family Firebird to a win over Marty 'the human party' Parsons who manages to have as much fun if he looses in round one or the final. No further comment.

So wut the hell is next...lemme go thru all this paperwork...

Sportsman...ya Sportsman.
Saturday saw the smilin guy in the C-cab pickup, Marvin Dykstra, win over Nathan Wieler in his 'two tons o fun' Chrysler. Sunday found Gerald Patzer, in his front drive '03 Poncho Grand Am defeat Federal Way's Brian Thompson. The Platzenator also won Sports Compact over Geno Reda's Kamloops-based '95 Civic. Not sure on the S/C thing, but I believe it's only run on the Open schedule here.

Can I go sleep now? oooookay.

BIKE
James Sibley wins Saturday over Al Omond, then Sunday Omond claims the Wallace defeating Kevin Brennan. Not many bikes here, but we did have over 200 entries on hand. And ya they did run Quads, but we got no info on them...sorry. Got some cool quad wheelie photos that we'll post later though.

Ok, I'm dun...whew...deep breath. No I'm not.

JUNIORRRRRRRR
One word...well two. Forest Schiffman of Vancouver WA. Won Lightening BOTH days, and considering this was easily the biggest class here, that was some kind of accomplishment!!! He took out Britini Lane on Saturday and Tanner Ellingsen today. Thunder had Daiton Ward win Saturday over Natasha Parkinson and Michale Karr the Sunday champ over Parkinson again. Tough break, but a great performance from the Merrit BC driver.

Super Comp
Looking like the 'Money Man' of old, Mike Seekins wins Saturday over Glen Kerunski crew dude, Mike Pople, then The Burien WA shoe runners' up to Zack Craig Sunday. Seekins was runner-up last weekend at the MRP Lucas and, like I say, is looking AWESOME right now.

Super Gas
...or should I say 'Senior' Gas?? as 71 year young Rod Horsley wins on Sunday over Daryl Baker from Dewington Alberta. For me personally this was a great weekend of SG. A really, really good friend, Glen Iggulden won Saturday to claim his first 'race' Wally ever defeating Dean Peterson from the Island.. The 'kid' in the Vette has been so close so many times, I was truly thrilled to be there to see it happen. Especially coming over a 'hitter' like Dean, who is one of the best out there. Later that night over a Barclay family steak I got to see Glen sit there with a huge smile you could not have hammered off his face. Moments like that are what's it's all about. Then Horsley wins Sunday. He too was at the 'Corvette' gathering Saturday night, as cool a dude as there ever was.Thanks to the Barclays for a great time.

Super Street
After a HEATED deal on a previous round 'error' Steve Lowe won not only the re-run but the whole damn race Saturday getting by Ray Carlson in the final.. I know so many of these guys, and ya, Steve has won a bunch....but not lately. A good win for a neat guy. Then Sunday, the former mayor and current Re-Max dude Carlson (another 71 year old) runnered up yet again, this time to first time Walliest Beck Lindsey of Puyallup. It's always wonderful to see a first time winner. Lindsey could hardly hold back the tears. Pretty neat stuff.

COMBO...how could I forget?
Saturday saw Ploud wheelie his way to victory over Joe Graves of Edmonton in his wicked fast Camaro, then Sunday it was....ready? Brad Potter runner up to...Worm. That's right, Don Elgin shook off his early season blues to win over Potter who will get a win one day soon in the former Brad Plourd Chevy. Hey, I like Don, he's...well he's...uh...a winner. Wut can ya say? Everybody knows the one they call Worm, and here's one writer who is not afraid to say he loves watchin everything he does...zany or not.

High School
Again not a big field, but Emily MacDonald won Saturday over Amelia Mackay-Smith then on Sunday it was Mackay-Smith victorious over MacDonald.

So I do believe that covers it folks. Other than to give a MASSIVE thank you to the pit-hosts-with-the-mosts Ellingsens, Howes ' n Pecks..wut a super, super time at Eagle. Thanks too to da ERA...all uv em, and too many more.

Not to mention all the track staff who hung in there through very, very hot conditions - WELL DONE you guys...and girls!!

About an hour before the wind and rains came today it was 138 degrees on the line. Hot don't begin to describe it! It was like Vegas in July at Ashcroft in early June. And yes the river is UP...but no major worries yet.
