No music, no voice overs, no on-screen names or graphics. Some interviews, bit of slow motion, lots of pit shots, majority of feature cars runs. For hard core HH video junkies only. To be honest the picture is not quite up to our usual standards, but I gotta give it a go. All discs come in an envelope only, no plastic cases, no disc art etc. Again, this is simply bare bones raw video that will help make the winter go by a bit faster, and keep HH up and running for a couple of months. These are not our full production videos. Basically, the new hi def camera this year was a bitch, so I had to alter my shooting style a lot. The videos get better as the year goes by, and funny how the stuff looks fine on one screen, over saturated and very contrasty on another. So don't be afraid to play with those many picture settings on that new LCD or plasma. In some cases it can make a lousy looking picture look quite good. In fact, to me, they look awesome on my ancient 13 inch RCA tube TV, and unless I tweak the settings, quite harsh on the new Sony 32 inch LCD. The other matter is of 'shimmer' in long straight lines such as guardrails and grandstands. This is caused by my editing software down-sampling the hi def to standard def. Finally, I learned the meaning of the term 'overscan'. You will notice that if you play the DVD on a TV screen, the sides can be cut off as much as about 5%, while on a computer screen it's all there. It's just what today's sets do, even the mega buck plasmas. This is also my first journey into the wide screen 16:9 format as opposed to the old and more square 4:3 size. Like some of the stuff I see on television, the wide screen image on these new discs may not fill up the entire screen. This is another problem of down-sampling from HD - which does fill the screen. Fortunately most new sets come with settings to make the image larger. It's your choice. As you can tell, this has gotten way too complicated, but the bottom line is the original footage is killer HD quality, so one day soon I very much hope to be able to deliver to you the kind of quality that will knock your socks off. It won't be cheap and it won't be easy, but I'm committed, so by purchasing these new HH DVDs, you will help that come to pass. Ya, I'm pretty picky and what I see many of you may not at all. I just strive for quality and like to give you all the best product I can. To be safe until I get some out there and people either like' em or not, I won't do the online order deal. So far, only one man has repeated his voyage to victory lane: Utah's Scott
Parsons. Parsons defeated Phil Landram in the Sportsman finale to take
home his second winner's check of the four-day meet. Joseph Landavazo of Peoria, Ariz., defeated Bryan Dowling of Glendale,
Ariz., to win the $5,000 Super Pro check. The final race of the night
was a strange one: Dowling fouled on the starting line, handing the win
to Landavazo. Landavazo's car left the starting line, then broke, and
coasted to a stop at half-track. He never crossed the finish line, but
won. Tibor Kadar of Peoria, Ariz., defeated Bob Moudree of Las Vegas for Pro
honors. Saturday's meet features the winner-take-all Ultimate Gambler - and free
admission for spectators after 3 p.m. New Yorker Pete Biondo won the Madcap
Ultimate Engine Giveaway Presented By Mike's Transmissions. Biondo defeated
Chuck Hawk in the final round, 4.909 sec./133.38 mph to 6.418 sec./104.25
mph (1/8-mile). To reach the final round, Biondo defeated "Fast Jack"
Beckman and Hawk beat Brandon Lundeen. The Nelson Family Racing Team of Peyton, Idaho, kicked off the Thanksgiving non-perishable food drive with a $100 cash donation. Donations of non-perishable food and cash may be made at the announcer's booth in the officials' tower throughout the event. Donations will be distributed to local charities. SUPER PRO PRO SPORTSMAN
Hi Larry - Just to let you know long timer chassis builder and all
round curmudgeon Jerry Hill of Newberg Oregon passed away. There are a
great many chassis, mostly front engined running around that were built
by Hill. He had been sick for awhile. His shop was a sight to see with
all kinds of chassis and parts hanging from the rafters.
Priddy, DenBoer, Parsons score Thanksgiving Day Bracket Nationals wins at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway LAS VEGAS - Ryan Priddy, Willie DenBoer and Scott Parsons scored final-round
wins on the first day of the sixth annual Las Vegas Bracket Nationals
at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Priddy, of Chino, Calif., defeated Paul Snell of Sandy, Utah, to win
the $5,000 prize in the Super Pro class. Priddy also won a $300 gift certificate
from Jeg's. DenBoer, of Lincoln, Mont., defeated Kent Wilson of Boise, Idaho, to
claim Pro honors. Both racers drove 1963 Chevrolet Novas. Scott Parsons
of Monroe, Utah, defeated John Irving of Boulder City to win the Sportsman
class. Gambler event - a winner-take-all race with a $1,000 entry fee. (Last year's winner scored $64,000.) In every racing season there are many individuals that stand
out for a number of reasons. The year end special awards are voted on
by the racers, crew, track personnel, and NHRA Certification Team. Basically
anyone can vote, so please make your voice heard. The award categories
listed represent the many factions of the Pacific Division, from the Lucas
Oil Drag Racing Series, Summit Racing Equipment Racing Series, and the
O'Reilly Jr Drag Racing League. Voting will be open until December 15th.

Voting is now open - but only until noon Thursday Nov. 22. He has some pretty stout competition, but with your help he'll hopefully come out on top and become a Pet Superstar! Video Update Yes, the much delayed street car saga is on the back burner yet again with the latest date for completion being sometime next year. It was the time period of January/February 2007 when I got so much of it done before coming to a screeching halt due to some personal matters. By the time those were cleared up the season was upon us, and the project basically went into limbo for a full year. With what we have to produce right now, that Jan/Feb time period again looks to be the time when we can spend most every waking moment on the video that we so very much want to see finished. In the meantime, there will be some new video products that should tide you over for the winter. Available in just two weeks at the MRP awards banquet will be a big highlight package of the 2007 Mission Raceway Park season. All the big races, all the major moments on not one, but two...maybe even three DVDs! Plus one more for the Canada West Doorslammers and there will be something for damn near everybody. More info on all these coming soon. Oh ya, one more thing. Every video we put out from here on will be edited in HD, but for the moment will be sold in the regular standard definition (SD). We spent hours on research and testing an HD disc, but found out it's simply not yet ready for prime time. The players are there, the software is there, sadly the burners, and discs are still not quite perfected not to mention being priced at an ridiculously high level. What this means is that down the road, probably next year sometime, we will be able to begin sales of high definition drag racing discs, and baby...we can't wait! I lied... First round of Top Fuel qualifying from yesterday is here. Staying at Vegas One of them may well be Vicki Strell as she and hubby Dave go south to play in this big show. Good luck to them, and a reminder to any other Canucks goin down that the entire crew there can easily be taken advantage of with something known simply as 'Kokanee'...and not the import U.S. version you can get on the Murican side of the border. of Super Pro eliminations. A message from DA MOZ Anyway the new motor I purchased was not intended to go in for Vegas and was supposed to go in over the winter. I actually picked it up on Monday afternoon Oct 22 in Washington, and brought it back to the shop. After a few measurements by Roy and confirmation from the rest of our crew that we could thrash and get the job done in time to go down and test in Vegas on Monday Oct 29, we started to yank the the old mill out and give the ole El Camino a new heart! By Wednesday evening Rob Guazzaroni, from Diversified Metal Works who joined our crew this year, started on our new headers. By Saturday morning we fired up the new beast and after a few checks loaded up and left for the big city. We tested Monday at LVMS but still had some gremlins with the new motor when running the NOS and actually Roy and the rest of the crew fought until Saturday midnight before we thought we figured the problem out. Going into first round our luck started to change as Rod Oxford, who I had 1st round, came to our pits early in the a.m. and told us he had broke on his last pass Friday and was unable to fix it. This gave me a single and another clean test pass @7.29 Second round I had Rich Zehring which was a little sweet when I beat him 7.16@194 as I purchased the new motor off of him.Third round I had Mary Bartzell, who I was a little worried about as she had ran a 7.06 earlier, but I caught a good light and went 7.22 @194. Seth Hunter broke which gave me a spot into the finals with Pappas, but the problem that we had with that was Roy could not put a big tune up in it to go into the sixes as on our last run the vacuum pump was not pulling enough vacuum out to handle any more nitrous, so we went with what we had and hoped I could catch him on the tree. We both left at the same time. I got out in front to about half track then saw him come up beside me before falling back! I knew he must have hurt something and cruised through the finish yelling and screaming like I had just won the lottery. I tell you Larry this was one of the best thrills of my life! I can't thank my brother Roy and the rest of the crew Vinnie,
Dwayne Doel, Rob Guazzaroni, Brian Hillman and Peter Valjesic for all
their hard work and never giving up. I would all so like to thank Jay
Styverson who put in a lot of time and effort helping figure out our gremlins

next year to represent the west coast. Shane's World Emirates Motorplex in Sharjah, Dubai, United Arab Emirates
played host to two of America's top race cars on November 10, 2007.
The father and son team were on hand as well as Shane Tecklenburg
tuning the MoTeC Engine Management system. They were excited about the
runs. "Man this car comes over here and it ran better than I ran
with it in the states. I almost wish I could have it back to get my record
back," explained Stevens Jr who built the entire car and engine and
also formerly drove it to a 6.87 in the USA. After the burnouts were completed Alil, who was receiving
assistance from Joe Lepone Jr. staged immediately and then sat idle on
the starting line with a broken throttle cable as Castellana launched
toward victory. At the 60 foot mark though Castellana began shaking the
tires and made a serious left turn for the centerline. Castellana struggled
to keep from crossing over and eventually manhandled the car back into
his lane for the win. Upon inspection after the run it was determined
that the left rear brake caliper had come off the car and dripped brake
fluid as the car launched causing it to go out of control.
Official LVMS photos of SCSN (click on date) After the excitement of the weekend, today dawns with the realization that, other than the big Las Vegas Bracket Nationals Nov. 21-25, the drag racing season is over. Yes, they race way down south almost all year round, but for the Northwest crew the fat chick has dun sung. Unfortunately I still don't know for certain who the Div. 6 Lucas champs are, the complicated points gig remains something I just can't figure out. Surely somebody will clue me in so HH can post some congrats. As for professional drag racing...the Countdown in NHRA just didn't work very well and the IHRA...well, other than what happens in Edmonton, who around here really cares that much? Despite the awesome show they put on in Alberta every year, IHRA remains Glendora's little brother. The fact that living in Canada forces me to break the law if I want to see same day NHRA television coverage doesn't help my interest much either. That the same few drivers basically keep on winning everything, another yawn inducing problem of professional NHRA drag racing...hell, pro motorsports in general I guess. The time I spent web surfing the past two weeks at DRC and nhra.com was mostly spent on trying to find out how the locals were doing in the various classes. Sadly I didn't have all that much to surf for, and on top of it not knowing how it effected Divisional or National points...well you can better understand my enthusiasm towards this past weekend's SCSN in Las Vegas.
